  1. Generally, I like it. It could so easily have been a tarted up Avensis (which is a good car on its own)but Lex have done their own thing. The interior is classy but I was one of those who liked the chronograph dials and was a little disappointed to see a 'normal' 2 main dial solution.
  2. Hi and welcome Smiffie runs Smiffies Soarer Sanctuary in London and is heavily involved with all things soarer. He is good with service and advice and sales and bacon sandwiches (or so I'm told). People go from miles around to worship his knowledge, ok may be exaggerating there a little. He is often on the Toyota Imports Forum His website is http://smiffies-soarer-sanctuary.com/ Hope this helps
  3. Strangely enough I was just in Game at Freeport in Castleford today and the manager there said about Christmas, with rumours of it being February 2005 The date has slipped a few times. It is the main reason I got a PS2 in the first place. Rob

    V8 Vs Tt

Wahey, its the TT vs V8 debate again B) . Its personal preference I guess. I suspect if MPG is a concern then I dont think anyone buys a Soarer for its fuel efficiency, but having said that they are a nice practical hi performance luxury coupe. If you expect 22mpg then you'll be around the right figure overall. If its the looks and style and reasonable performance / mpg then there are more and more 10 year old 3.0litre variants. They were made from 1994 onwards and are appearing in the car ads now. V8's have all the luxury kit. Some versions of the TT are "relatively" basic. Not sure about the 3.0 litre. The Americans seemed to like them well enough. Be content that whatever the model you will have something a little different from the norm with an excellent owner support network (here and TIF). Toyota / Lexus reliability and build quality too.

    Spotted

Just got back from Ibiza and I spotted a Black (Dirty ) SC300 while I was there, parked near the Sirenis Coral Playa Hotel in Es Cana. The interior was a little shabby and it was LHD. Local number plate I think. Belong to anyone here?? Have you a holiday home in Ibiza I can borrow for my next holiday, please?? Cheers Rob
  6. I thought that I heard the other day that if the fuel supply problems get worse then a 3 or 4 day week would be imposed. Also a ban on "certain drivers " using their cars. Whatever that means. How can a shorter working week be 'imposed' its not like we all work for British Leyland or a Nationalised industry any more. Has anyone else heard this or is it just more scary bowlocks? There was a news item saying what proportion of the 83.9p / litre goes to the government...... in the UK it said 18p was production and transport costs the rest is TAX :tsktsk: In the US the production costs etc. were similar (about 17p per litre) but they only pay 25p / litre for their "Gas". In France it is the same as us but they pay about 60p / litre. I know these countries have a different tax structure to us (more income Tax in France I think, dont know about the US). It just shows how the motorist keeps Mr Browns coffers full in this country. If we didnt drive our cars then they would have to get the tax revenue elsewhere, so it is not in the governments interest to make it difficult for us to afford to drive. Rob
  7. Here are my pix of the concept. Now those wheels would look great on a Soarer. Lexus concept pix Quite impressed by the SC430 too. White leather n walnut anyone? Almost every manufacturer has a coupe/convertible these days. Cheers Rob
  8. Hello I see you are in London so perhaps the best person to contact is Smiffies Soarer Sanctuary who I am sure would be able to advise you and maybe locate an enthusiast who would buy it. He is an enthusiast who happens to run this Soarer Garage and lots of people find him helpful and reasonable. Smiffies Soarer Sanctuary web address The directions and contacts are here too. Good luck and sympathies for your loss. Regards Rob
  9. Dare I say, I wasn't a member on Steve's August birthday and I just missed his December birthday, can someone tell me when his next one is as he'll be aging quite rapidly and don't want to miss the next one :D Happy birthday (just in case!)
