  1. Hi and thanks for all the replies. I have been off-net a couple of days. James
  2. Hi guys after about 30 to 40 mins driving when slowing down my LS revs drop lower and lower on idle then the engine cuts out. This is happening intermittently and the car always restarts ok. Also when the steering is on full left lock there is a clunking sound, bushes or similar is the obvious thing i guess. I am running this car on a budget so costly repairs are unaffordable. I was effectively given this LS 19 months ago (due to employer pay-off),so far it has been ok. Any advice gladly accepted!! James
  3. Thanks for the very interesting replies to my post earlier today. I'll check the cabin filter if the weather ever gets above freezing!! I will have the compressor looked at,having done a quick check online they are over 500 quid new,so may look into a used one or reconditioned if that is possible. Anyone know of an LS400 specialist in the Reading area? I did a fuse check a while back for the seat heaters all seemed ok,worth doing again. The main disappointment on my LS is the poorly applied black paint on the lower bodywork which should of course be grey/gunmetal.And a low quality resprayed section above the rear offside wheel arch. When I bought it the guy said it was a "rare" fully black car! All part of the learning process with these cars. James
  4. Hi all I have noticed that the prices asked for good LS400's seem to be on the increase at the moment. Just wondering what you all think? My air con produces cold air but does rattle intermittently when switched on,and when it does this the engine becomes very slightly hesitant. I works quietly for 1-2 mins or so then is ok. Any thoughts? Its not a major problem to me as I like the windows down and roof open in very hot weather anyway, probably a reminder of my motorcycling days, wind in your hair!! None of the heated seats work either, again not something worth worrying about until its time to sell the car. All the best James
  5. Here's a few more pictures of my car. The rear lights were on it when I bought it,an American aftermarket item I was told,
  6. Hi there everyone this is my second post on this forum. My 95 LS400 is back on the road after a six month financially enforced rest! I got a new battery from Reading Lexus at £88 including which I thought was very reasonable. I couldn't refit the battery securing strap thing so removed the plastic cage to slightly lower the battery, now it's fixed properly. I had a bit of a heart stopper when the dash flickered on and off but it is now perfectly ok again. It happened in Park on startup but not in Neutral or Drive which was odd. I had forgotten what a great car it is,a complete pleasure to drive. Its my first LS,bought 18 months ago. Now that I know more about this model I am looking forward to getting a mint LS in a couple of years. Mine has paintwork issues I did not notice when I bought it,the main one being the lower bodywork has been painted black, which is now beginning to flake off. The car has 220k now, came with a full history up to 209k. All the best James
  7. Thanks very much for the advice, the air-con needs sorting as there is a rattling noise when it is switched on.Only other problem is none of the heated seats work, but this and the air con are not that much of a problem really. All the best James
  8. Hi my LS400 has been off the road for 3 months and looks like it will be for another 3-4 months. I have removed the battery and have left the handbrake off,is there anything else i should do and what precautions should i take when I do drive the car again? Any advice would be very welcome. James
  9. Hi thanks for the advice,I replaced that 120a fuse and have found that the battery was killed as well,so just need a new one, I have had the car running today and all is well. Can't wait to drive it again, have been using a 1.6 Astra which is hardly the same!! James
  10. Thank you so much for the reply,I will check that particular fuse first. Sod's law isn't it,the car has been SORN ed for 2 months,I have successfully started it twice, then come back from the post office with a tax disc in my hot little hand and ***** it up,still now that I have calmed down I suppose that's life!! All the best
  11. Hi everyone new member here. I have a black LS400 with 219k. I jump started the car but got the pos and neg the wrong way on the Lexus battery. The car would then crank but not fire. I checked the fuses and replaced two,the car would then start and run but no dash or instrument lights or indicators but the horn and headlights work. When the car is running there is an audible waning tone in the cabin. I still can't believe I made such a mistake! Any ideas or suggestions would be very welcome,I'm worried I have caused serious damage, and lucky the battery did not explode or anything. Jcwossname
