  1. hi there, excuse my lack of technical / mechanical knowledge but i had a mechanic point out an issue to me some time ago which i never progressed.. apparantly im missing some kind of pin which perhaps holds in the rear brake pad? does this make sense? i thought the rattling noise from the back was a broken exhaust mount but apparantly not... he said it was ok to drive so i kind of switched off as my bill was already huge. sorry if this is too vague but can anyone tell me where to get this pin and how to fit? thanks
  2. Thanks for the reply. There are a few bolts not sure which one. Any chance of a pic perhaps anyone?
  3. hi, im no mechanic but i certainly love to diy when i can.. i have been searching for hours now and cant seem to find a detailed description of how to tighten the power steering belt on my is.... its a 2002 se auto. i did a full atf flush on sunday hoping that the screeching noise and stiff steering issue would go, but whilst doing that i discovered that the belt keeps spinning and the pulley stops. i imagine my belt is loose? any pics / tips / advice on how to tighten the power steering belt please anyone?
  4. hi, thought i would post here instead of a new thread.. however, the link to bahamut is now invalid. can anyone please advise how this can be done, or have an alternate link?
  5. firstly has anyone used castrol transmax dex iii multivehicle in their is200? i have a 2002 is200 se auto. i plan to do a fluid change this weekend (never done one before), fuid gone blue/green and steering very heavy when cold, but seems to get ok after driving for 20mins or so. i was hoping to do fluid change the easy way by sucking fluid out of the resovoir and then entering new fluid, then turning the engine on so it pumps through the system. then suck out that lot and top up each time, turn on the engine each time after topping up, suck out and repeat til it starts going pink. im no mechanic and i saw this on youtube; a guy doing this on his subaru, just thought i would ask the experts on here first. please tell me if the above will work, and if not, the easiest way to do a fluid change diy style. thanks
  6. how long did it take you and was it easy? im not very good with this stuff.. how much do you think a garage would charge for something like that?
  7. regarding my drivers side wheel/s (not sure front or back), i wouldnt say its a grinding noise, but a very subtle scraping noise when the wheel spins... when driving past parked cars on small roads with the window open it can be heard, others from inside it cant... the disc looks fine.. when doing motorway driving i can hear a high pitched noise (not very loud) which i suspect is the scraping... any ideas?
  8. i have had some lowered cars in the past but the ride is always a nightmare! my stock lexus could do with a drop but i dont want that bumpy feel every pebble type ride like i had on my E30. whats the best way to improve looks but keep the smooth ride?
  9. my lex has a unipart air filter in it - its not too clogged but its an easy and cheap job so was gonna replace it. are unipart any good? is it what main delaer would have fitted? seen some unbranded stuff on ebay for £11. should i leave it or change?
