  1. Mine's just about to turn 80k, the only problem that I've had to pay for was a leaking water pump at 66k, other than that alloy corrision and stereo replaced under warranty. The engine is still sweet as a nut. I love this car in fact I'm looking at trading it in for another IS200 or maybe a 300. If you get if for a good price your laughing mate.
  2. They do bugger all in the minor service, change oil that anybody can do and charge £200 for the privilege! Oh and they do a VSR which anybody with half a brain can workout.
  3. I too have this problem! My old stereo was replaced 3 weeks ago with a brand new one from Japan (took the dealer 6 weeks to order!) and low and behold yesterday error 3, I took out the power supply to see if it would rectify itself and it seems to be even worse now, the stereo doens't even show that I have 4 disks inserted! Phoned the dealer and they have ordered a new one, good job there's a 5 year warranty! It's only been in the car 3 weeks what a joke !
  4. The servicing schedule doesn't make any difference to the age of the car, basically your being ripped off mate. It'll be cheaper for you to drive to Lexus Chester for about £150 and spend the difference on petrol, pressies and lunch for you and your misses (or a mate ;-) ) !! Ask them if they are price matching, if they don't - walk.
  5. That's mint mate - is that going to be a production car? It looks different to the Maybach that I saw last year (The one that Simon Cowell bought).
  6. I had the same problem at the weekend I couldn't get out of my drive (I share a track with neighbours and we had about 6" snow on Sunday morning). There's a couple of problems here, your probably running on summer tyres like me - Dunlop SP9000 which don't help, rear wheel drive certainly doesn't help at all and that snow button just reduces power so it ain't going to make a big difference with those summer tyres on). The main thing is traction, as soon as you get some traction and gain some speed you should be able to drive on the snow - this is what I found anyway, I ended up digging out the drive so I could get going!
  7. I have also been unfortunate enough to experince this as well. A long long time ago when I first past my test in my mk2 escort. I was overtaken on a bend by some nutter, I flashed him and we came to some traffic lights, the passenger (like you) spat on my windscreen - it just begs belief the type of people out there, you just don't want anything to do with these people, they're probably nutters. Did you get the taxi's numberplate or company name? At least no harm was done mate, it'll all be forgotten it in a couple of weeks.
  8. Great maybe we can get a clan going! GRAW rocks, what a fantastic game - love those fly by's in the helicopter!
  9. Just got GRAW (Ghost recon advanced warfighter) in the post, will get some practise in today and play online tonight!
  10. Cool, how did you get GRAW yesterday? Waiting for Postie to deliver mine today (got it off Play for £40) I'll send you an invite later mate!
  11. Finally bought a 360 last week and am chuffed to bits with it so far, bought the premium pack and have the wireless kit talking to my home wifi network - I am such a geek!!! Anyway, if you've got a 360 and want to play on-line (especially GRAW if you get it today :D ) my handle is VirtualM :) Cheers!
  12. Good topic mate, I always wandered about mine too! Now I know!
  13. Lexus Chester told me they would be bring out the IS350 and a coupe to the UK - I reckon he's bulling it!
  14. There is a 5 year warranty period on the stereo I've just had mine replaced and my car is 4 years old. Not sure if Lexus / Toyota have a dealership in the guys location (Caribbean) though.
  15. How much do you think the stealer will knock off an IS300 04 plate for £18k? Bearing in mind my trade in - do you think I can negotiate their price or am I better off asking for a couple of free services? Cheers for the great feedback!
  16. Says mines worth between 8 - 9.5k, 02 plate with 74k on it.
  17. Great feedback guys - I guess it's time to test drive one (never driven a 300), after driving the IS250 auto I loved the box so hopefully the Is300's auto will be similar. Watch this space, seen a nice 04 IS300 in Black. Anybody interested in an IS200 in S/Blue ??!? If not then it's the Stealers who get a nice car....
  18. If you visit the Vauxhall website like I have just been browsing, they have a free offer for you to value 3 cars FOC on the glasses website. Click on the vauxhall link and then move onto the Owners Tab and then follow the link for Value your Car! Great freebie if like me your looking to value your car. http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vx/home.do
  19. Hi All, Just wanted to really find out from you IS300 owners what the main benefits of the 300 over the 200 are. I know about the spec's so no probs there. I was really interested in finding out the average no of miles per tank you get, how comfortable those full leather seats are vs the 200's half leather and how the auto box performs? If anybody has any idea how the 300 compares to the IS250's performance that would also be great. All comments appreciated! I think this is my next move, I don't really like the look of the new IS250 even after driving the auto and manual versions is still doesn't make me want one. I love the IS200 / 300 shape and think the IS300 is for me. Cheers Mark.
  20. Surely this will void the warranty on your nice sat nav / levinson system? Your braver than me anyway! There's no way on this earth I would attempt this on a new £27k+ car! Maybe if it was out of warranty! Are the benefits worth it?
  21. This makes interesting reading! I too am in this dilemma as my IS200 is due for a replacement. I test drove the IS250SE auto last week and was smitten by the auto box. If the 220d is manual then I too will probably go for the auto is250. The new 3 series looks too clinical for me, the interior is just boring and reminds me of the old 3 series, not much progress there then! The new IS interior is just amazing! It's inviting and a joy to be in. And the 3 series is a big favourite on company car lists and you will be a mere number on the motorway, on the otherhand the lexus will still be unique I reckon!
  22. I'm also interested in seeing what the seats look like - if you have the black ones please post! Thanks
  23. I've complained to Lexus GB and await their response. Will let you know!
  24. I had a new IS250 SE for the day whilst my IS was in for a service. Who needs a testdrive, just book your car in and get a curtesey car instead! Good points: I must say it was absolutely gorgeous and you guys who have one must be beaming from ear to ear. It is a million miles apart from the old IS in terms of quality but nonetheless I still think the old IS has character. I loved the optitron lights, how cool are they! Loved the mp3 compatible stereo but and this is a big BUT, I don't think the stereo sounds any better than the old IS so a big welldone to Lexus for a good job in the first place. My biggest plus point was the shape of the car, those windows are much smaller than the old IS but they seem to work. How quiet is this darn motor! I was doing motorway speeds on the M53 and I only had the stereo on low volume and could hear it as if the engine was running idle. The Auto box is a new experience to me and I am a changed man! The way you can put it into sport mode and the way it rev's an orange band at 4k revs and then red at 6k revs is excellent (sorry didn't thrash it), just testing it :winky: At one point I tested the sport mode by selecting 6th gear whilst Idle, then accelerated onto a motorway and it still selected the gear change but used maxium revs, absolutely astounding. Those brakes put my old IS to shame as well. Negative's: Well hard to criticise the car but my misses said it was like a tank compared to the old IS and I think I agree but I like the new tank! Loved the comfort of the seats but thought they were a bit slippy slidey when cornering. I guess it's more of a comfort cruiser than a sports saloon, will be interesting to see what the seats are like in the sport. I don't really like the alloys, I would like to see something more like the GS430 style. I've got some pics (it was in dark blue by the way, not sure I liked the colour that much, it didn't sparkle that much even in the sun). I couldn't get to grips with the keyless entry, the key was in my jacket pocket and the doors wouldn't open. I opened the door with the remote and put the key back in my jacket and the display errored "Key not recognised", perhaps it was me. Not cheap though are they, but the spec is fantastic and I reckon it's a bmw beater. I'll still probably buy one (sooner than I thought I rekon)..... Sorry if there's any typo's - in a bit of a rush tonight!
  25. Should I complain to Lexus GB about the oil cost from Chester? Or am I fighting a losing battle? Will supply my own oil next time! Thanks for your advice guys!
