  1. Hi Guys, My IS went in today for a 70k service at Chester. A couple of questions for your opinions:- 1) I was charged £62 for 5 litres of oil after 15% discount - is this right? I've checked my previous services from Liverpool & Stoke and was charged £30. I was just wondering if the oil problems have caused a price hike? 2) Was also told my front discs are warped, they were replaced in Feb 2005 under warranty and I am now being told that they are not covered under 12 months warranty as the warranty on the discs was only covered for the warranty of the car (which expired in May 2005). Are they right or are they taking the P***! I've never heard of anything so crazy in my life. What would happen if say for example a water pump was faulty under warranty, replaced FOC and then out of warranty became faulty but was still within a 12 month period, would the same apply? Or anything else come to that matter? All answers much appreciated.
  2. Yes Warped discs that's what they told me £140 to reskim they can FO!
  3. I get the same problem as (2), mine's going in tomorrow so I'll let you know.
  4. All these new IS250 owners! Coming in like a tidal wave! 31k is a massive amount of money, how much you reckon it'll be worth in 3 years when I can buy it then!
  5. Whizzed past me on the A50 then I caught up with you :D Very nice indeed, then you went into the Toyota plant (company car by any chance?)
  6. Just makes you think you can't really put a price on a car can you? Glad your all ok!
  7. Mine's the same! The burning smell is usually more obvious when I've been on a faster journey. The vapour is always visibile on mine on a cold morning and has been the same for the last 3 years!
  8. OK, I've updated my avatar just for you! Here's the link if you wanna pinch it :- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/images...as/xmastree.gif
  9. To be honest I've got PIAA's on mine and I would say they're 25% better than oem, but at £80 a set I still wouldn't say they were fantastic (sorry!) I would opt for HIDS anyday. Oh, I forgot I have hids on order from Dave! silly me! Anyway, I've also tried the blue/white bulbs off ebay from canada and they're pretty good, perhaps a little bit blue though. Don't know about the philips ones though. HIDS are the way forward IMHO.
  10. OK I take your point Mat, as the club chairman I ain't gonna argue with you and in your experience I can only take your word on this. Seriously still amazes me though how this could happen! Will have to keep an eye on the left hand technique then when putting her in reverse. Perhaps some of you have stronger wrists than others, if you catch me drift !! Glad nobody was getting funny with the guy on here. Happy xmas.
  11. I can't see how you can accidentally put the car in 1st gear when selecting reverse. You literally have to push the gear knob left and then upwards, how on earth do you put the car in first instead? And to turn this on it's head, are you also stating that when in a rush you could accidentally put the car in reverse when selecting first gear? Loads of other manufacturers have the same mechanism as the IS200 for reverse (take BMW 3 series for example), and they don't have the reverse gear engaged beep do they. None the less the beep is annoying, especially if you have reversing sensors as I do. So I agree with Tarmac it is annoying, can't see why you guys are getting funny with him, he only asked a simple question!
  12. If it was me I would opt for leather and suffer the extra price hike. It's worth every penny. I don't know why they can't do a half leather version like on the old SE (like mine) and the seats are ace.
  13. I dunno about the expensive tellies but I bought a crown 32" lcd from woolies in September for £599 and it's brilliant! Yes I know it's not HD but wait for it....... it's in my kitchen and it does have 2 scarts, PC connection video & audio (yes!) and SVIDEO. For what I use it for I can't think of anything better, I am also working on the basis that terrestial will still be around up to 5 years anyway. The best bit advice I can give is if you buy a LCD hang it on the wall, channel the walls out and hide those cables you will smile for months, look at mine:- No cables, they're all in the end cupboard, the only advice I will give (as mentioned earlier), make sure you get the right scart or HDMI cables. Oh and a really good plasterer won't go a miss either! Sorry if a little off topic but if it was me going for a top of the range I'd go for a Samsung.
  14. Has anybody else seen the Bosch Aerotwin wiper blades VW are fitting recently? http://www.boschautoparts.co.uk/pcWipe5.asp?c=2&d=1 I was in a new VW Golf last night and was very impressed with the size of them and they seem to be less imposing than the normal wiper blades. And appear to be a much better blade all around. Trouble is are they specific for VW or will they fit the IS200? All help appreciated!
  15. I'm sorry, I can't help you with heating pants on the rear screen of the IS200! Sorry mate, that's not right, mine defrosted an icy window in 30 seconds this morning. Might want to accidentally crack the window and get it replaced on your insurance!
  16. Lexus Chester do participate in discount on servicing - off the top of my head it's 15% on parts (labour is not discounted). Ask Jane on the servicedesk. BTW, Lexus Liverpool & Stockport do offer discount as well. However.......As you are considerably richer than us mear IS200 owners then you'll probably get inflated service costs anyway! :winky: Seriously though, you will get it but you have to show your card. On the other note of discount, yes Chester are difficuly to haggle prices (that's why I ended up buying my IS200 in 2002 from Aberdeen for £2k less) Where in North Wales are you anyway! You'll be the 1st IS250 I see on the road probably!
  17. That's the sort of thing I would do - especially in a forecourt, so people think it's your car!
  18. Looks like I'll just have to do that wont I! I just thought the forum would be a starting point there's usually someone on here with useful information.
  19. Yes, your right mate, mine has the old bulb style high level brake light but I have seen an LED style high level brake light on the later IS models. Just wondering if you can buy 'em.
  20. Sorry I think you misunderstood (or I didn't explain myself). The light was inside the car on the rear parcel shelf. Come on 57 reads and nobody cares to answer except Jiber!!!
  21. On the M56 the other day and a 54 plate IS200 was in front of me, it appeared to have a new style led high level brake light and I want one! Anybody know if it's a Lexus stocked part / or do prolex supply - and any idea of price? Cheers!
  22. The immobiliser bit is an absoultely brilliant idea! Well done those Japanese!
  23. Would that be a bottle of Sorry mate! :P Issie Miyake works for me & Lacoste original (from the 80's) is great for the daytime (and cheap).
