  1. Difficult question to answer that! At the end of the day it is a Toyota and the new IS250 is still a Toyota and people will always say that. Lexus or not the parent company is Toyota. Mine was bought on value for money, spec and being different, I would have definitely bought it even if it was a Toyota, especially as I also looked at the Celica. To answer the question where £22k justifies a Toyota IS200, well what about the Celica ST for £23k and the great Supra for £30k+ ! Funny thing is, Toyota dealers wont touch it with a barge pole as far as servicing goes, well my local ones anyway. Something to do with Insurance purposes. Bet servicing would have been cheaper if it was branded Toyota though!
  2. Spark plugs are the main expensive cost on the 60k service. My advice would be to buy the iridium IK20 plugs off ebay (preferably from the US like I did). Tell the dealer your supplying your own plugs - you should be able to pick them up for about £35 instead of the £90 the dealer will quote you! As well it's a good idea to replace the airfilter yourself - try the K&N for about £40 it's dead easy to fit and as well change the aircon from puravent. Tell your dealer your doing the above and you should save circa £150 off your service cost. BTW, my 60k service with supplying the above cost me £280, which works out as a basic service plus 2 hours labour to fit the plugs. Oh, and don't be a tight wad - join Gold mate! You'll save yourself an extra 10% off the cost of the parts in your service! :winky: Good luck!
  3. Your joking mate - how many renaults were at the bottom!
  4. Just remember that new cars can sometimes be in an airfield for 6 months or more. So I wouldn't worry! If it was me I would leave it on the drive and ask a friend (as already suggested) to drive it for 15 mins a week.
  5. My question is, what happens when the battery runs flat in the keyfob - how do you start the car / open doors? Or doens't it have a battery in the keyfob?
  6. Great news that the IS200/300 came 2nd in the Top Gear survey. I must say I was chuffed to bits to hear this as it must help with resale / depreciation in view of the new IS250 coming out. Adding to that will probably increase sales of the new IS as well! Will drive to work tomorrow with a :D on my face! Oh, it was beaten by the S2000 and the RX came third.
  7. I think the nail has finally sunk. It's not that I or any of us poorer IS owners don't like the new IS250, it's the depreciation from £28k that will hit us hard. For £20k at the moment you can buy e.g. A Mazda RX8 12 months old, A Nissan 350z and even an old shape 330d 18months old, all these cars have depreciated between 6-10k in a year. My point is not many private buyers are likely to buy one of the higher spec IS250's brand new are they? I might even be tempted to sell my IS200 and opt back into the comp car scheme and get the IS220d next year. But then again I might just sell my IS200 and buy a 350z for 20k instead!
  8. I've had invites from both Stockport & Manchester but NOT Chester (take note if your reading Chester boys who take all my money in servicing). I've basically thrown the invites in the bin as I'm not interested in the new IS at the moment. £27k for a decent spec IS250 sport, yeah right! Has the entry level IS220d got cloth seats as well?
  9. Nice response Mr Mole! Looks like it's worth the wait when they prep the car then.
  10. Good idea for the camera but the recording bit probably wont work. My insurance company has a section in the small print that states NEVER to admit liability in an accident even if it is your fault. This day and age who admits liability anyway? Just let the insurance company sort it out, it's usually a 50/50 blame that they go after.
  11. Mate, is what your describing the same as a knocking sounds my pads are making? If so then my oem pads which were fitted 6 months ago make the same noise. The dealer has changed the clips twice but hasn't fixed the problem. Should I try a new set of oem pads? Sorry for hijacking your forum Scarface, to answer your question I bought mintex for my rears and they seem to be ok (from prolex btw).
  12. That mileage is low mate! Best colour as well ;-)
  13. Ah, well if you searched you would have found! :P Seriously though I know what this site is like as it has loads of info. I posted about this a few months ago as I was confused as my IS200 has SP9000's on it. See for yourself ;) The one on the left is the Lexus type with a wider rim protector and the right is the standard. What confused me even more is the Lexus type is made in Japan and the standard made in Germany. Last week I needed a new tyre, ordered the Lexus type (Japan), and guess what it was the standard thinner rimmed tyre but was made in Japan!!! I'm not sure about the future of the SP9000 as I've been told by a couple of garages that it has been superseeded by the Maxx (as Fluff has mentioned). But a number of garages have also said that isn't true - so who knows! Anyway, hope this helps.
  14. Yeah I was thinking that myself, is it more expensive? Anybody know?
  15. Cheers guys helpful as always. Put it like this, it's gone rusty!
  16. Yup, last night under pressure with work, p-ing down, house improvements, finances the list goes on and on. And then I reversed my car into my wall on the drive scraping the off side bumper and arch big style! I know there aren't any pics, but anybody got an idea what the whole bumper replacement cost is? Anybody recommend the bodyshop in Lexus Chester / or anybody else in the area? Not sure if to go thru insurance or not. Cheers.........Mark.
  17. Was it Tom Jones boyo :D
  18. Ditto the above, I've had mine 3 years and do not plan to get rid for at least another year or two - still love it and that says a lot as I usually get bored of cars after a couple of years. Anyway, what's all the fuss about - don't you think the spec on the current IS is fantastic - why sell it? Unless you want power there isn't much that beats it at the moment- that is apart from the new IS. The car is still rare where I live and that'll dink dank do for me !
  19. Geoffers - good to see you back mate, hope your doing well. How's the Roadangel - taken it apart yet and deassembled it yet! Sorry back on topic - I want one of these prolex kits - my carkit speaker is naff when on the motorway!
  20. I'd like one of these - any idea how much they are (tried looking on prolex site but couldn't find the product). Cheers!
  21. So are there any UK suppliers that can source 5 series bimmer lookalike headlights then? sorry, I mean angeleyes !
  22. Altezza Scott had these on this website for £350+, not sure if anybody has fitted them. Come to think of it not sure if ASP is still trading, he's gone very quite indeed....
