  1. What'ya think of my IPAQ mount (have a look in my gallery). IPAQ mount
  2. Fitted reversing sensors the other week, they're the cheapo JML ones that I have fitted discreetly under the reg plate (you should see it on the pic), wired up to reverse gear feed and they only come on when in reverse! Great I think. I know they're not painted and not discreetly fitted into the bumper but they do the job. I've also recently upgraded to tomtom navigator 5 and decided to mount the pda horizontally inbetween the airvents. I think this gives a better picture of the route as the display seems to be bigger than the vertical setup. Nice that tomtom navigator 5 can let you tilt the screen! As you can see there are no wires on show - the gps device is wired behind the stereo and sits on the ashtray (gets fix through the sunroof). Let me know if you think it looks ok or not - honest opinions are always welcome!
  3. I think one of the problems with the current IS model is that it doesn't appear on many company car lists and that's because there wasn't a diesel available. And that is probably (my thinking) into the reason why... and I quote my dealers words "yes sir we have the model available at the docks - give us 2 weeks), because not a lot of people have bought them. Which in hinesight is good to me! To be honest at £25k for an IS250 it probably will be competitively priced but the guys on this forum are mainly buyers and not company drivers. Even my car allowance wont justify that sort of cash. But I can't wait that long so I'll have to jump ship I think. If company car drivers are offered the new IS220d then they will become common and Mr Mole will be more than happy with his commision, enough spends for Barbados instead of Benidorm I think!
  4. I didn't notice any change after my 60k service and I fitted IK20's as well. I also changed the airfilter to k&n. The only change I did notice was the engine smiling at me saying "thankyou" !!!!!!
  5. Great link Mclean - thanks for that. Shame they didn't test the RE040 or SP9000 - would have been interesting to see how they would have done.
  6. No mate, already checked on there. Have done it now anyway, also posted on pocket gps forum.
  7. I agree! Let's hope so. And lets also hope the parts for the current IS become cheaper as well! I wouldn't mind upgrading to full leather - that'll keep me happy for another year! I wonder what Lexus will do with all them optional alloys they have for sale for the current IS - do you rekon they'll fit on the new IS - I can't see them wanting to do that though - I see a sale coming on - PLEASE!
  8. It's the optional extra list that concerns me. One of the biggest factors of buying my current IS was the standard spec.
  9. Glad your alright mate - I'll keep my eyes peeled in the chester / liverpool area, you never know. I can't believe they drove over your leg, as you've already said they really are not worthy to mankind.
  10. I'll try this today and let you know the outcome!
  11. Yes it is the one that spun off on the M4! No disrespect mate but your car is a V reg isn't it, is the car worth 12k or did you take out gap insurance?
  12. Thanks for your help guys. Ad77 - I never knew there was a section in the knowledgebase - so thanks for that!
  13. Going to clean the engine bay tomorrow. Am I right in saying that if I cover the electrical bits such as the fuse box, battery, oil cap, anything else that has electrical wires connected to them with cling film - I will ensure that the engine is cold. Then apply autoglym engine & machine cleaner and then agitate with a long brush and hose down with a light spray on the hosepipe. Then leave to dry for a couple of hours & remove cling film. Should I be OK or is there anything I should look out for? Thanks a lot.
  14. The only thing that worries me here is running the car idle for 20 - 30 minutes, is it ok for the engine to run idle for such a long time?
  15. :winky: Jiberjaber - you are absolutely correct, I did also use your pinout layout to locate pin 4 - so my apologies and a big thankyou to you as I was convinced I was using the right pinout as pin 5 was empty - so cheers mate I'm not going to bother with the ignition sensor as sometimes I use the carkit before I start the engine - thanks anyway! What about using the car speaker - do I need a relay for that? Yes I know search is my friend :mat: but has anybody succesfully achieved it? Ta!
  16. Did you pay by credit card mate? Doesn't insurance cover this sort of thing? Not really sure about scottish law, but in the UK you only have to give 24 hours notice to cancel hotels, I have stayed in a lot of hotels with my job and I have even cancelled a room in the morning and not had to pay diddly squat. The best example (sorry it doesn't help you but it might add to your complaint - I booked a night out last christmas as a work do for 4 lads in Manchester and 1 cancelled at 5pm when we were driving up there - I checked in and explained the problem and they said ok no issue no charge!!! BTW, it was The Sachas Hotel in Manchester - thumbs up! Hope you get it sorted - it sounds pretty naff to me.
  17. Yellow cable from your carkit to pin4 orange and blue cable at the back of the stereo (just posted this elsewhere).
  18. Well yesterday I finally plucked up the courage to wire up my Nokia Carkit to mute my stereo when receiving and making calls. I would like to say that I s*****d myself when I unplugged the stereo wired the yellow mute cable to pin 4 on the stereo (blue and orange cable) and plugged the connector back into the back of the stereo and the cd player started making a shuffling sound for about 30 seconds. I think this was a hard reset? Anyway it has been great since. Anyhoos, it is working brilliantly, I would like to thank Duncan for providing the pin-out colour (in another forum) and Scarface for his contribution as well (in another search I did). If your thinking of doing this I would advise you to do it, I am no electrician and managed to wire up the mute cable no problems. In hindsight I did cut the cable and use plugs to wire the cables together but I don't think you need to do that as there is sufficient space to plug the yellow mute cable in directly into pin4 (I would recommend you use a hard cable to do this (household electrical type) as it is much firmer to plug in. Anyway, hope that all makes sense - now I will never miss a call! Shame it doesn't pause the CD player though, well can't have everything! Cheers guys!
  19. Sold for 99p - was that real???? How much would a new auto gearbox cost!!!!
  20. That's for the GPS receiver mate! I've mounted my Ipaq on in the airvent horizontally, not sure if the tomtom go mount is the same as the navigator version though.
  21. Quicker than what I thought!!!!!!!!! Great addition I think, especially if your out and about in a strange city and need to get to a Lexus garage! OK so i've done it - who wants it PM me!
