  1. Hi, I can't remember exactly what I did. Could have been the car battery. I remember that we changed the battery at some point. You can have a word with Lexus. They are very helpful. Hope you find your answer soon.
  2. I would appreciate any update on the service plan. Don't have a car yet, but when I do get one, I would like to consider the service plan instead of using a local garage (simply because of the hybrid element). I am thinking of getting RX400H over 5 years old. Thanks
  3. A little update: went to cargiant yesterday with a view to buy an RX400H Limited Edition. Was so excited about this car. Well a bit less after I read about the executive ltd edition. Anyway, we were ready to get the car yesterday. I went straight to the car when we got there. From a distance the car looks "cool". I had a quick look around the car - multiple rusty chips on the bonnet, scuffed marks on the front sides, a small dent on the rear side and a big dent in the middle of the boot door (it looks so ugly), tear on one of the rear seat. That's what I could see, but I am quite sure that there are other marks on the car. I had no feeling whatsoever for the car after I saw all these. Kids were after me ... buy it ... buy it. My daughter was more interested in the badge/logo. I could not be bothered to go to the reception for test drive etc. We just walked away and went to have some proper fish instead (sushi - not everyones' taste, I know). It was RX400h Ltd Edition, 2009, 85k miles, £12,100 plus road tax. Last service due was Feb14, that was not done. Last service done Feb 13. There I am, carless but not careless .... the search goes on....
  4. This one looks good, slightly above budget. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201408196716146/sort/atcustom/postcode/e174pp/radius/1501/make/BMW/model/X5/page/1/usedcars
  5. Personally I don't want to spend more than £5k on a 9/10 year car. If I have to go over this amount, my budget is £9k for a 06/07 car, ideally a Lexus. There are couple of private sellers (X5) with FSH on Autotrader. Mileage around 65 to 85k. X5 is my last resort.
  6. I was expecting the running costs to be similar to the RX350. I have seen couple of good X5s on Autotrader with fsh. The 06/07 Lexus (lexi) seem very expensive compare to the 06/07 X5s.
  7. I am now thinking of getting an X5, 06 or 07 year. Any reason why I shouldn't get one?
  8. I never thought about contacting the previous owner. Good idea.
  9. I have been looking for 10 months now -:). Good things come to those who wait. Could not be bothered to go shopping for a car in the rain today. I made few enquiries from ads on Autotrader during the 10 months, you won't believe it how many fakes are out there. They all happened to be currently out of the country on duty and needed me to send them money. Of course, the shipping costs were very good, something like £150!! I will make few more enquiries during the week and hopefully get my car by the end of the week. Cheers
  10. Thanks. My max annual mileage will be around 7k I think. A bit more if we get good summer like this year -:)
  11. Yep, thanks for reminding me. Will just have to take the hit if I do get the 350. I was going to go for 2006 300,the road tax put me off. So I thought, if I have to pay that much road tax, I might as well go for the 350. The air suspension issue is bothering me now. Need to get a car tomorrow. I have been searching for far too long.
  12. Thanks. RX300 is out of question. So it will be between the 300 and 400h. I will have a good look at both and decide. I will probably go for the 350 as there wil be one year warranty from the Lexus dealer.
  13. Thanks Colin. My maximum annual mileage will be around 7k. I will check if the 350 has air suspension. I am worried about the hybrid overall, just in case anything goes wrong in the future. The wear and tear cost is alright. Also, there are some bad reviews about the breaking system and sudden stop on the motorway (coil problem I think). I am not able to post pics of the three cars from the iPad (version)
  14. Hi, I used to have an RX 300 and now need to buy another Lexus car ASAP. Yes, it has to be Lexus. I have seen a 2004 RX300 for £5k, around 80k miles, a 2006 RX350 for £10k with 42k miles and a 2007 RX400H for just over £10k, with mileage of 89k. The RX350 is from lexus dealer and the other two are from independent dealers. I quite liked my ex RX300 and my initial thought is to get the 2004 RX300 and save myself £5k. The car looks alright. The RX350 seems more appealing and it's coming from the dealer. So, i am a bit more inclined towards this car. The RX400h, I am not sure. It's the hybrid bit which I am not sure about. I don't want to spend a huge amount on repairs etc. Any recommendations please? My preferred one is the LS460 but above my budget for now. Thanks
  15. When I had my rx300, the remote key didn't work on few occasions. I had to manually locked the car, which means that it was left without any alarm on the road, albeit for few hours. Somebody, could have easily broken into the car. I have not read the full post, but did the police take any fingerprints?? You should contact the financial ombudsman or get a firm of solicitors to process your parents claim.
  16. Very reassuring in terms of number of years. My Rx300 was written off recently. I am now looking to buy another RX. Perhaps another 300 or 400h, few years old of course. The LS460 caught my eye, but too expensive for me. I might get a 03 LS430. Still undecided!
  17. Hi, my 2001 RX300 decided to start going off two weeks ago. It happened during the day. I think that I had all three ignition keys with me , valet, master and the other key. Since then the alarm has been going off mainly in the night, 4 times on average. I have tried pressing the lock sensor twice to deactivate the interior sensor but that didn't work. I have also tried opening the driver's side door anticlockwise at 2 o'clock in the morning. That opened all the windows and roof. Set the alarm again but didn't work. I have changed the car battery, still no luck. I don't seem to find the answer so I though I would start a new thread. Please help. Many thanks!
  18. Hi Were you able to solve this? I am having the same problem. Recently my alarm has started going off. Thanks
