  1. Nnoooo. I find drunk and eBay a more deadly combination .......
  2. As said just moisture burning off..... you want to see what my impreza can do if its left for a couple of days in low temps, I can fill the road with dense white smoke it's a touch embarrassing.
  3. After spending so much on my impreza over the years I swore that the Lexus would be left well alone and just driven, well that's failed as I initially fitted a shiney rad panel within days of picking it up cleaned and painted the rad brackets replaced some rusty engine bay bolts with some shiney replacements and purchased some spare alloys off eBay to refurb as new, then one night on eBay I found some more cheap eBay bling, so for the grand sum of £4 purchased and delivered I now have a blue anodised TRD oil filler cap ...... ok obviously a Chinese copy for the money involved, but its nicely made and weighty in the hand so I'm ok with that.
  4. Well yes that was my thought initially, colder the bum the hotter the seat feels, but I'm sure they feel hotter at times after I've been in the car a while and my cheeks have warmed up a tad and I've turned the heating up ..... as you say from my knowledge of heated seats when u was in the trade they are constant temp with a thermo switch to shut them off before they get too hot, but its Lexus here so I wondering
  5. Might be a daft question, but are the heated seats hooked into the climate control in some way? As the hotter I set the car heating the seats seem to correspond, or maybe when its cold enough to need hot air circulating atoms the car I can feel the seats better. ?
  6. As said Bilstein suspension products are very good, they were oe fitment on my Griffith and other sporty and expensive motors, having said that if the fitment is not ideally suited to the car its being fitted to then you might as well not bother, adjustable units are good but you can easily make things worse by being able to fiddle and mess with them too much so I wouldn't discount a non adjustable unit if its of decent quality.
  7. And the beeping is deffinatly from the front of the car, sounds like drivers side dash area to me ..... As for the gate wearing and feeling looser its possible depending on the miles covered .
  8. The way to bleed it would be to run the engine with the cap off the rad, heater on full blast and gently squeeze the rad hoses to eliminate air pockets, refitting the rad cap before it starts boiling over ..... I'm unaware of any specific bleed points on a Lexus. Its strange that both sided have blown hot in the past though
  9. The gate in mine to get it into reverse is so pronounced and stiff, there's no way I can get confused with first or reverse, 1st is effortless to select,, reverse is not and takes some effort to select it.
  10. Gurgling would indicate an air lock in your heater matrix ...... has it ever blown warm and have you ever had to drain/refill the coolant system ?
  11. Well yea i do .....but also have now ordered and fitted some different led sidelights with 5 smd panels each, and some 13 smd panel interior festoon bulbs, ive got bulbs coming out of my ears now and funnily enough they all work and have lots of spares in the boot, still impressed with the xenon gas filled dipped beam bulbs too, great improvment over the standard bulbs.
  12. WelI its solved and all working and I'm a bit of a numpty but I'll confess if its to help others ....... Tested the bulbs at work on some 12v battery cells ....at first when connecting the crockodile clips the lights didnt work then i noticed the metal contacts on the bulbs sat in a thin grove on the plastic body of the bulb, preventing the clip from touching the metal thus making a circuit, the standard glass bulbs are flat at this point so no problems with the bulb holders on the car contacting the bulbs ...... I bent the prongs on the bulbs sideways a bit to clear the groove and now a circuit can be made and they light up fine ... As i said, a numpty moment
  13. Not tested them and the seller stated these replacement ones would be tested before posting to me, my sidelight sockets are fine as my normal bulbs work ok, remove those and fit the led's and nothing refit the normal 501 bulbs and again fine. Ill take them to work and try to rig a test rig up as trains i work on are 24v so ill isolate a few cells to get the desired 12v operating range .
  14. Well an update as the replacement bulbs arrived yesterday ........ and they dont work either !! Im at a loss as to why some led bulbs that have worked in other peoples cars wont work in mine
  15. You need to pull the nozzle out a bit to let some air into the tank, its air locking so thinking its full and shutting off the fuel delivery.
  16. Yup that boxy one I agree is not quite right, and was the one I was thinking of too, the stilo one if I recall was a lot better, I still think the eBay one I linked to is not that bad especially for the money involved, I might get one and see how it goes, never gonna pay the going rate for a Lexus one as its not worth that to me.
  17. I think the aftermarket one that a member fitted was just the box type one and not the type i linked to? Agreed not as astheticly pleasing as the factory one but allowances have to be made considering the price differential ,
  18. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Armrest-Centre-Console-Arm-rest-NEW-BOXED-/160836040291?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2572933663 Now if this fits ok and looks sort of factory for when its installed I'd consider it as an option
  19. Remember when I had my mgzr and the hot thing was to fit a armrest out of a rover tomcat, made a huge difference to the way you drove the car, and in hindsight the car should have come with one from new, but it was a relatively cheap mod at around £40 as a guy on the forums used to break the Turbo car on a regular basis so whilst the normal £130 price seems to many to be acceptable, I feel its too high for what its worth, partially because of the limited number of armrests available, this itself keeps prices high, so unless there are a source of alternative armrests that come on the market, that's the price you have to pay to secure one.
  20. No coolant system is "open " otherwise it wouldnt be able to be pressurized and therefore lower the boiling point of the coolant, system is sealed by the spring in the radiator cap, when the pressure reaches the stated amount the cap opens a port that allows heated and expanded coolant into the expansion tank on the rear of the radiator, when the coolant cools down it contracts back into the radiator, loosing any coolant over time indicates a problem of some sort and is not I'm afraid normal.
  21. I believe only paid up gold members can sell, so if you want to advertise your car then you will have to stump up first.
  22. Right update from the seller, UK based by the way as it was a case of next day delivery which was nice for a change, and although they are suprised to to find there might be an issue with both of the bulbs they sent out, they will be sending a further set out to me and testing those themselves before dispatch, unless I have a freaky car that dislikes led's these replacements should be ok.
