  1. Ill have to read the bottle to see its ingredients but from what I've read so far there should be no issue using the halfords stuff ...... Read this. http://www.bluecol.co.uk/index.cfm?page=75
  2. Disconnect your earth and place a multimeter in series measuring amps, this will give you an ideas if anyything is draining your battery .... if there is a drain you can isolate it by removing fuses one at a time to see what circuits are the issue. To see if your alternator is working run the engine with lights air con heated rear window all on and at idle with a multimeter should get a voltage reading of 13 to 14 volts any less and it won't charge the battery any more and the rectifier is toast and its cooking the cells in the battery.
  3. Its all ethelyne glycol as far as I'm aware so no compatibility. Issues.
  4. Its condensation not helped by the stainless exhaust, my impreza is the same and there is concern on those forums about the exact same issue once, I filled the road completely with dense white smoke on a particularly cold snowy day very embarrassing but perfectly normal....... if its fully up to temp still smoking and your losing either coolant and or oil then is the time to worry about it. My lexus seems to billow smoke sitting in traffic and its noticable in my mirrors, once under way it clears to nothing.
  5. Good to know, specially since I've got a Halfords trade card ;) Me too .
  6. I purchased some pink longlife stuff from Halfords £11 odd for 5 liters, used less than half to fill the expension tank so have some spare in the boot Good shout regarding the poss water leak via the AC, that's a possible source of the water under the car esp as its clear and not pink or red in colour as per antifreeze
  7. My expansion tank was empty but the actual Rad was full up to the cap, so just filled the tank up to the line, no leaks that I can see I just suspect at somepoint someone without knowledge of the built in expension rank on the Rad just filled it in the conventional manner.
  8. When I collected the car, sales guy was at pains to point out that the main cause of failure was people not waiting for the green led to light up before inserting a disc, he reckoned that was the main reason for jammed units ..... he also said, and I've no idea if it's correct or not, but the internals are the same as ford units and can be repaired relatively cheaply because of that and not the normally quoted expensive repair costs.
  9. I've got to say the 8 speaker system in my sport is probably. he best sounding car system I've ever owned, really nice clear sound with plenty of adjustment for bass and treble, whether that's just due to my previous cars being crap I'm not sure, but I certainly like it and have no intention of messing with it. Was there any change to the system over the years production ? Speakers or head unit change
  10. Mine just has the whine in 6th gear, rest are quiet not that bothered as its very minimal.
  11. Been there already, with a scouring pad and some wd40, bit of effort and some solvol and it's shinier than a shiney thing Scooby has to go ,it's not practicle for me to have 3 cars at one time (I have another summer/weekend toy) so the impreza has to go and its a shame as its a well modded cracking car which I've owned for 7 years, longest I've ever owned a car.
  12. Woo hoo .....managed to remove the hands free control box enough to read the serial numbers on the sticker, result is I now have a working system so that's a bonus. Also removed the rusty radiator brackets and repainted and started to replace the shoddy quality rusty bolts that are dotted around the engine bay, washed. And its all sparkling now.
  13. Top result with the sand blasting idea, took them right down to bare metal and repainted them, look tons better .... Could still do with a Rad flow panel to tidy that part up, anyone done a group buy of late?
  14. Think i found the control box tucked up behind the rear fog light switch right below the air vent on the drivers side,no idea how they managed to cram it in there along with its speaker, and its that tight i cant turn it over to see any serial number,so just refitted the panel for another day when i have more time to try to get it out,be a bonus if i can get it to work with my HTC but being bluetooth as long as it will pair up it should do/
  15. You can upload straight to this site ...... look for the attachments options below your message.
  16. They are a little too rusty for that,i might try to sand blast them in a litttle cabinet we have at work whilst im on nights this week though as a after thought
  17. Right had a play today to see if i could make the handsfree kit thats fitted to the car work with my phone, it wont, but only because its asking for a pin to pair,so my phone recognises the carkit 112 ok,so bit of a search on the net reveals that the pin might be the last 4 digits of the serial number on the control box (tried the usual suspects 0000 and 1234) so started a hunt within the confines of the interior, now then i also notice it has a traffic master system fitted with the button on the center console in front of the cigar lighter, thinks to myself i wonder if the box i need is under the panel,so start to lift the panel around the gear lever for a butchers, then all hell lets loose .... first off a voice from nowhere starts saying "contacting support team" i go wtf ! just before i hear a phone ringing sound and then a nice chap asking me what the problem is ? ...... so explained there wasnt one and i was looking for something else, and he bade me farewell lol...... so still no handsfree use, but found another box cable tied to the panel with the bonnet pull on it that stated camera kit ? so what the hell this car has fitted ive no idea ...... search will continue or if anyone has some idea either how i can source a pin or even the likely place this nokia control box may be hidden ( not that i can see above either footwell)
  18. As above need some Rad top rackets in very good condition as mine are a tad rusty, also a Rad flow panel would be nice any colour as ill paint it ..... any one got some.?
  19. Yes Nokia handsfree kit. Might see if my HTC will sync with it The center armrest im not bothered too much about , nice if it had it but there you go.
  20. Cheers. Just gotta sell my scooby and ill be a happy bunny.
  21. Picked the car up today, few stone chips and the odd scratch but overall tidy, drives lovely, comfort motoring for a change, and finally via the build plate worked out its correct colour and not the trader described "pewter metalic" so its blue but officially Antimony or N86
  22. Right colour identification sorted, looking at the build plate it states N86 .... which is Antimony, so thats one mystery solved. Collected the car today and srill impressed with the smoothness and xomfort levels, not so with the standard of finish to bolts and the like in the engine bay. A bit of elbow grease and paint needed to tidy it up but overall. Very pleased so far.
  23. Just had a thought ..... wonder if the owner was in clink lol
  24. Ill get the paint code off the car when i collect to confirm the actual colour.... dealer not a Lexus agent and won't budge on the cambelt change as he's adamant its not due, ill get it done asap anyway as I know someone who works for a Lexus dealer. Not got full history and in fact doing a vosa check revealed the car actually didn't get mot tested for two years and the milage. Didn't change for those two years.not concurrent by the way which is odd, but everything else checks out OK, hpi clear etc, two owners first being Lexus Cardiff, the second a private owner who has had it since jan 2005 not worried though as its in great condition and drives faultless, ill do some digging when I get the v5 and the previous owners details..... here's its mot history Reg date 27/04/2004 1st mot 24/04/2007. 38344 miles Next mot 21/05/2008. 53254 Next mot 23/01/2010. 53388 Next mot 21/02/2012. 55512 Now showing 65890 and getting a fresh mot ready for collection. I presume the car was not used for the years no mot test was carried out, hence the little or no increase in miles recorded at those points in its life, from its condition and the way it drives I have no doubt its genuine though, just a little odd.
  25. Well it was described as pewter metallic by the seller, though that does not seem to be listed on the colour codes in another thread on here.
