Hi, just getting a new wheel bearing fitted but the passenger side rear abs sensor is seized and will break, where can I get another from? Prices are like £190 at lexus, for a wheel speed sensor. It must be gold plated, I may have to bite the bullet and buy it unless someone is breaking a 1998/2000 ls400. Thanks

Hey guys, Rockauto have a sale on manufactured and new starter motors and alternator for the ls400. I'm thinking of buying one of each just as a precaution if my ls400 doesnt sell. Everytime I drive it, i get in 2 minds about selling it.

I've checked the mot history, the last one was just tyres wearing unevenly, most of the mot history is clean

Last year I took my car for mot as usual, anyway one of the advisories was play in steering rack joints aswell as rear upper arms, so bought brand new rear arms, mechanic fitted them and said there was nothing wrong with the old ones, but I still got them replaced, he also said theres no play in the steering rack joints so I didnt buy any. Took the car for mot 2 weeks ago at the same place, and not a mention of play in the steering rack joints, but then said, one of the side light bulbs isnt working, so he failed it, went into the car in front of him and switched the lights on and low behold it was working, they were new bulbs I'd put in last year, then he said theres slight play in passenger rear wheel, could be bearing, but it's not making any noise and car drives proper silent.

Theres is no such thing as president model, its just badge the owner has stuck on. Car looks very tatty. I wouldn't bother with that one

I might be selling my ls400 soon.

It could also be sparkplugs or coilpack, and no they won't throw up a check engine light

No matter what lexus say, get the air con bomb and clean it out, and also replace the pollen filter And regarding the gas pump nozzle shutting off, that's normal for some lexus cars, you'll find that you will need to either pull the nozzle out abit, or twist it around,

You can do a hpi check or go onto Autotrader, go to sell my vehicle, put in the reg and mileage etc, and it will tell you if its a cat c or n etc

You got robbed if you bought it. I remember I had a toyota celsior ls400, alternator went on it, I bought a second hand one from breakers yard, had it reconditioned, and then fitted, cost me total of £100

£1000 for alternator? I've got to ask the same question, where do you get your parts from? Rockauto is the place to go, or buy a second hand one for around £60, and spend another £40 or so and get it reconditioned before fitting it

Usually, its the battery light that stays on, that would indicate alternator problem

How much did you want for it? I have a mk4, but I also like shape of the mk1 2 and 3

I've had both, I had a 2004 ls430, but then bought my old mk4 Dhp ls400 back. I bought some rear upper arms from yourself last year and got them fitted, had the cambelt and water pump done last August too, new rear brake cables and pads, discs and shoes. The ls430 is a nice car, the cabin is a very nice place to be in, but I had to get rid of it because I missed the ls400, why? It just feels better, its feels better built too, has road presence, it feels more comfortable, plus, you don't get the expensive issues the ls430 brings up.
