  1. I once took my old IS200 for a full service to a small indie garage. Never used them before but stupidly decided it was a good idea. I specifically asked them to change the spark plugs which they said they did. Some time after the work was done I noticed a very slight misfire. Eventually took it to someone who knew what they were doing and upon investigation discovered a crack in one of the plugs. Also looked like these were the old plugs. We reckoned the guys who did the service probably took the plugs out and put the old ones back in, but didn't get the angle right when replacing or over-tightened. As a result they cracked the ceramic on one of the plugs. Thats why I could only feel the misfire under certain 'torquey' conditions. Full plug replacement later and the car was back to its usual perfect self! Lesson learned
  2. I'm sorry, what? Did you say 36 MPG!!!?
  3. Thanks guys I thought as much. I'll push the issue with Lexus and hopefully they will supply one. They say that the Workshop Controller reckons there should only be the two outside ones. Cheers
  4. Hi Everyone, I recently bought a 2010 F-Sport IS250 and noticed the rear middle headrest is 'missing'. I contacted Lexus and they say there shouldn't be a middle headrest. The fixings for one are there though Can someone confirm how many you have? Thanks
  5. I used these guys in the past and were great for a very cheap deal. Ok won't last forever but still, for light usage they were ideal https://www.valuecarmats.com/p/525/lexus-is250-car-mats Think if you put IWANTADEAL as a promo code you get another 10% off or something like that
  6. Yeah I'm not too worried about it especially with the warranty, was just curious to see if this rang any bells with anyone. In their defence the car only arrived as a part exchange on Saturday and I was round to see it Sunday! There were a few other issues but they are sorting them out for me
  7. Just about to buy this car from Lexus Edinburgh and looks like its a private reg. Did it belong to anyone here I wonder? Believe it was purchased from there originally
  8. Hi everyone, I'm returning to the club after a long time out - I used to own an 03 plate is200SE with the Styling Kit and now Im about to buy a 60 plate IS250 F Sport. During the test drive I noticed the engine management light was on as well as what looks like the traction control light on the right hand side of the dash. Didnt seem to effect the drive and the sales woman assured me this would be taken care of by Lexus Edinburgh. Question is - is this something thats common in the IS250? Anyone heard of anything like this? On a side note I have to say Lexus Edinburgh have been great to deal with, they made a cracking offer to me for the car that included a 3yr warranty and road side assistance! Ive paid my deposit and will hopefully pick the car up this week so Ill get some pics up asap :)
  9. Ive just sold my lex and my only advice is dont not under any circumstances go with a trade in or webuyanycar.com. Sell it private, and to someone who cares! In my opionion you should be looking at around minimum 2K. Good luck with the sale
  10. Yea its good alright. Ive only really used it for a good read to see where things are etc. Ive never had any bother with my car apart froma mechanic cracking the housing of a spark plug when allegedly replacing them (which they never did!) For less than £5 delivered I think everyone should have one of these
  11. No Haynes manual but I bought this on ebay. Very useful http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p4712.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0&_nkw=Lexus+IS200%2F300+Workshop+Manual%2FTechnical+CD&_sacat=0&_from=R40
  12. Thanks for all the replies guys, much appreciated. I just tried to PM a member here called Ormi who I hear works in Edinburgh but my message never got through for some reason. I was hoping he would be interested in pricing up some investigation work as he works for Toyota. If there's anyone else around the Edinburgh area or further afield and you're interested in this then please contact me. Ive got a big road trip coming up so want to get this sorted by next week. Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and go to Toyota in Newbridge, Edinburgh. Thanks all
  13. Thanks for the reply Chris, I tried changing the petrol station I usually fill up at and I also gave the car a tank of Shell V power to see if that had an impact but sadly no. To my great shame I dont know enough about these things to diagnose the problem and fix it myself - even if I did I dont have the tools to check some of the basic parts! Ive looked for a decent independent around Edinburgh but couldnt find any. Guess I will have to go to Lexus Edinburgh and get charged a fortune for someone to investigate. I suppose it will be worth it if they find the problem but I just dont know if they will - dont want to be out of pocket with no result! Thanks again for the reply
  14. Hi All, Im sweating over this.... The car sometimes judders, almost feels like a misfire but no engine management light comes on. Seems to happen when the car is ‘under load’, ie low speed, uphill, and in 2nd for example. If the revs are kept high then the judder feeling doesn’t occur and the car is its usual smooth self. Its definitely not trying to stall; it feels different to that, although I must admit the conditions are very similar. The problem started after I got a full service done by a random independent garage (never again!). The car almost feels reluctant sometimes now, but maybe thats just me being paranoid, and maybe the cold weather has an effect. Either way I know there’s something not quite right with the car and frankly Im really worried! Because its very intermittent and difficult to replicate I cant think of what could be causing it - if it was a spark plug issue surely it would happen under normal driving conditions, same goes for coil packs (I guess). I would actually feel better about it if the engine management light came on, least then I could get the code form it and diagnose a misfire in theory. Anyone ever experienced something like this? Any thoughts or suggestions are more than welcome Thanks guys Shane
