Rx400 Tyre Choice
Woody123 replied to Woody123's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Anyone tried the Pirelli Scorp all season. I like the idea of all season tyres but am concerned about wear. We only do about 6k miles per year and wife won't drive if over 1mm of snow on ground. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC -
Need a set of new boots, got prices from Oponeo.co.uk, supply only. Dunlop SP sport £89 (currently fitted). Pirelli Scorpion Verde ( all season) £103. Michelin Latitude Tour £109. Any recommendations welcome. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC

Headlight Alignment
Woody123 replied to Woody123's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
All sorted, found to be a broken rod which connects sensor to rear suspension. Fortunately covered by warranty Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC -
Headlight Alignment

No AFS or any other warnings showing, I have tried restarting many times but they always settle at the same high position, had prob for about 3 wks now. I am not comfy with manually adjusting as I don't know why it happened. If you speak to your Toyota dealer I would be interested as to what they say. Fortunately I am on a Lexus warranty but it is just a pain getting time to visit dealer, I was hoping there was a simple reset procedure. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC -
Headlight Alignment
Woody123 replied to Woody123's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
The issue is on dipped beam, they seem that high that they light up the inside of any cars approaching or in front and I am constantly been flashed. I can see the hex screws you mean but I don't know how much to turn to adjust correctly. I am also concerned as to how they have gone out of line so much when they should auto level. Could I have a dodgy sensor somewhere??? Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC -

Intermittent Wiper Problem
Woody123 replied to bavodnik's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Correct, remove the cover by pulling out the long clip at the bottom then just disconnect the plug, you are now on simple timed intermittent wipers as we were all used to. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC -
Wing Mirror Not Dipping In Reverse
Woody123 replied to Woody123's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Does anyone know if it possible to get to the sensor to clean it or is it a sealed unit. Been quoted £475 to replace complete wing mirror assy, at that price I can live with the slight problem. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC -
Intermittent Wiper Problem
Woody123 replied to bavodnik's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Probably a faulty or loose rain sensor. If you disconnect it then the intermittent wipers work in a conventional way, ie timed not dependant on rain intensity. I disconnected mine as I prefer the timed settings anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC -
Wing Mirror Not Dipping In Reverse
Woody123 replied to Woody123's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Tried both L and R positions but makes no difference. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC -
For the past year I have had this intermittent problem. When selecting reverse the off side mirror doesn't tilt down properly, just moves fractionally then stops. The near side works fine and dips fully. It can't be the motor as I can adjust it no problem using the switch. I can only presume it is some setting / software issue. Anyone else suffering ???? Worn Rear Shock, Rubber Sleeves
Woody123 replied to Woody123's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Glad to hear its not a problem or a MOT fail, I was shuddering at the thought of the cost of 2 new shockers at a Lexus dealer. I like Steve's idea of butchering a steering rack gator and might give it a go. Anyone got any suggestions as to what size or where to get them? -
Just giving car a good wash last weekend I noticed that on both rear dampers the ridged rubber sleeves, (or whatever they are called) that can be seen through the springs are split to the extent that the steel rod is visible. As I am due an MOT in June I want to know if this is a fail? Can the sleeves be replaced alone or is it a new shock assy and any idea of price?

Regenerative Braking Issue
Woody123 replied to Woody123's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Thanks for the feedback, so it appears that this is norm in all 400h. I can't seem to find anything regarding a software update as described by Boxbrownie. However doing a bit of digging it looks like Lexus have had quite a few complaints on safety grounds on this issue !!!! Take a look at the following website. www.carproblemzoo.com/lexus/rx400h/service-brakes-problems.php Not sure if I am relieved to hear it is not just me that has this issue or having seen the above website should I be worried !!!!!! -
Had my RX400h for 18months now and still love it, however I have one niggle with the braking system and want reassurance it is normal. When braking gently especially going down hill the car will slow (as you would expect) and the needle on the power meter drops into the blue. However after a short time the regenerative braking ceases, power meter needle jumps up out of the blue, the car lunges forward and you have to press the brake pedal harder to slow down again. When I got the car I asked my local Lexus dealer about this and they said it is a normal characteristic of Hybrid cars and I would get used to it, I haven't and it still takes my by surprise sometimes. I have driven a CT200 and IS300h and neither of these had this characteristic. A good example is a hill I go down every day, it is approx 1/4 mile long and at the same place near the bottom every time the regen braking stops and I have to press the brake pedal further. It doesn't make any difference if car is cold or warm or if battery level is in blue or green. Anyone else have this issue or is it just me ????

Just got round to removing shields yesterday and tried in dark tonight. Yes it makes a big improvement, I can actually see what I am reversing into now before I hit it !!! I would recommend removing shields, as Gazm says it is quite easy the hardest bit is removing the tailgate trim, just give it a tug... I would still like to try the LED's if anyone can find them.

Thinking Of Buying An Rx400H
Woody123 replied to bianconero's topic in RX 300 / RX 350 / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h Club
Hi, Had my RX just over a year now and still love it !! I drive mostly city roads around Sheffield with occasional run into country. I find in the summer I get around 32mpg and winter 24mpg. I think for a luxury SUV this is excellent. Go ahead and treat yourself.... -
Just had MOT, Passed OK £25 at Kwik Fit Chesterfield, Excellent service and very helpful technician. Technician advised to have underneath Wax Oiled. Is it worth doing and anyone got an idea of cost ???
