  1. Hi there. like most have said, theres not much need for it unless you are running big BHP,(but then saying that out where you are you could well do with it) , i will say this!! if you do get one get someone that knows what they are doing to fit it and set it up, as its not a DIY job if you know what im saying, if its not setup right, it could well cost you alot of £££ to put right.
  2. :winky: Hi paul hows things mate, will you be at the japshow this year ? be good to see/talk to you mate
  3. :shutit: some people like to modify I would like to see pictures of the V8 turbo, I just want to know how hes managed to get over the front weight ratio. and how much power its creating The front weight ratio, is not that much more than it was with the 1G-FE, as the V8 is an all alloy, the only part thats not is the sump. as for power it should be somewhere in the 400+ easy with the setup i have. Heres a Pic, of it, still alot off work to be done, but im hopeing to have it done for the JapShow at santa pod at the end of june.....
  4. Hi mate, have you seen the work that go's into trying to make 2 turbos work, + all the exter work & items i would have to buy, not only that theres not that much room in the bay, i think you are forgeting this is a 4L V8 not a 2L 4 or 6 pot engine, with this engine and turbo setup, turbo should kick in at around 1800 to 2000RPM, I think i have gone down the right road with this setup, as i know there are 2 v8 setups in the IS in the uk but thats all, they dont have turbo,s or SC on them so my one will be the 1st IS V8 Turbo in UK :winky: ( i think) But thanks all the same for your input :winky: P.S please dont think i was haveing a pop mate, i understand what you saying, but its just so much more work and items to buy.......
  5. hhmmm im hopeing to have it done for the Japshow at santa pod in june, but we will see how thing go over the next 3 to 4 weeks then i will know better.
  6. lol all i know is you paid that for them you dont need to make them fit, is what you do need is a DOC............
  7. Did some more work on the car today, i got the oil return line for the turbo fitted, something i had put of untill now, as i knew it would be a pig to do, and i was right, so as it was a nice day down here in kent, i got the car out and worked on it in the sun :) had to lift the engine up abit to get to the back of the sump. so with that done i could then start to take all the nuts out, and i was hopeing once i had done that the sump would just fall off lol well i did say hope!! but nope it was stuck like S**** so i got the hammer on it, and with a tap here and there off it poped, i then had the job of geting all the old s**** of it, 20mins later that was all done, so i sat that to one side i then had to see where the best place was to put the return line, not easy trying to make a 25mm hole well i did and i have to say it did not take to long do, and here it is all fitted in its place, just have to get the hose and connect it. Thats one more job thats done.......
  8. funny you should come out with that, as i think i was the 1st one to make the kit and dave got all the size,s of my kit and just turned it around, where as my kit i made went over the engine to drivers side and down, :winky: and you are right the cost was only about £30 to £40 and i used all good items for my kit "ie" intercooler tube, and samco hose's, i did not go to BQ lol
  9. Hi mate, like i said im only to happy to help if i can......
  10. dam you beat me 2 it, i was going to say 3 days lol, if you ask me forget the 0-60 times in the IS, unless you have a turbo or enging swap
  11. well i got round to makeing a bracket to hold the atl in place, all most done just have to work out the best way to get tension into the belt at all times. well heres what i made, im not done with it yet still some work to go into it.
  12. my last 2 cars were running over 300bhp and i thought i was over it all , but then tonight when i was out in the Type R it just did that old thing to me you know that thing when you put the foot down and you feel like your eyes are sinking into the back of your head and you think your about to die , i miss that feeling Now selling the Lex isnt even an option i would dream of , but i think power is on the cards .. These are my previous toys ... Thanks for the feedback marcus , im going to write a story and send you a PM if you dont mind explaining a few things to me please mate ! feel free to send me a Pm mate, only to happy to help if i can, from your past cars i can see why you miss the power side of things, nice looking cars you had befor the lex. hhhmmm i have a 2nd V8 just siting here
  13. yea SC is good, but!! once you get use to 200BHP and i can tell you it dont take long befor you want more power, so i would say stay away from SC as theres only so much power you can get from it, if you can and like you have said ( the time to take car of road) then i would say get it turbo'ed, but dont stop there do the pistons & rods at the same time, as the 1G-FE will not take much, or if you can get a better engine, it all comes down to how much you have to put into this, and what power you want at the end of the day, I turbo'ed my IS myself for around £1800, but it did take me 6 months to get the parts at the right prices, but i soon got use to the power, i was asking the Q what to do next, and there was 1 of 2 ways i could go, lay out BIG cash for pistons and rods or go with a engine swap, well i think you know what way i went, if you ask me its the only way to go if you are looking to get more & more power, so swap the 1G-FE for something better like alot have done.
  14. Certanly eye catching, not my cup of tea though.. hhhmmm thats why i picked matt black,
  15. yea it looks like it from the pic,s but when the rad is fixed in place theres about 10 to 15mm room, as for the engine cover theres about 30 to 40mm room, not only that theres a car on the V8 site with the turbo in the same plave "ie" right next to the rad and his is running ok, i will also be covering the turbo with a heat shield to keep most of the heat in, so with that it should all be ok,
  16. I got round to geting my Exhaust of the car today as it needed a good seeing to, as its been siting on the car all this time. Have to say it looks alot better now........... i also got part of the pipework heat wraped today... i also test fitted me strut brace to see if it still fits........
  17. Like i said mate, dont let me put you off from geting them, just ask lots of Q, about them!! have a good look over them befor you buy! for any cracks and so on
  18. they are ok, but i can think of alot nicer wheels out there for the price you are going to pay for them, but a if you like them dont let me put you off, im just saying have a good think about it, if he is leting you have them for a low price then you have to ask your self why?? cos if something sounds to good to be ture , 9 times out of 10 it is,
  19. Hi guys, got some more done on the V8 over the past 3 to 4 days, in the last pic,s you could see i had taken the air/intake of, well i also took the lower part of it off, and tarted it up, i give it a nice paint job, with that done i then refited it along with the ari/intake, and did away with the EGR side of things, as there is not much use for it as the v8 is geting turbo'ed, lots of vac/pipes and so on, if you take alook at a LS400 engine bay you will know what im onabout, any way i did away with it all and here are some pic,s to let you see what it looks like now. next job is moveing the atl, I also had to make a new PS/lines, as the old setup was in the way of the manifold when i came to fit them, heres what i did. its not a very good pic, but the pipe now gos down and under the manifold, and runs long the side of the engine, as you can see in the 2nd pic, In this pic, you can see where i have to try and make the atl fit in its new place...... still trying to get me head round it, has i have to make up some new mounts for it,
  20. looking good mate, nice to see someone else doing a swap, its SAD but its the only way to go i think if you want good power out of your IS, keep the updates comeing, top job you guys at GT have done take my hat of to you lot.....
  21. lets just say alot more than i would have liked, as i have also had to buy some tools that i did not have when i started it, its not the cost so much, its the time!! its starting to get to me know as i want my IS back on the road, to think i was 1 of only 3 IS200 turbo's in the UK when i took my car of the road now look lol, but it will be fun when its done as i will never sell it......
  22. HHHHmmmmm can not wait to get my IS on the Road...
  23. well what can one say, with out Turbo or SC your lex is not going any where fast, sorry to say!! i would not go buying anything for it that just adds 5-7 bhp cos you will not see that its any faster, save your cash, and then one day add SC or turbo......
  24. Hi mate, yea i did think about the SC, but most SC can only run so much PSI i think most will max out about 12 PSI where as turbo will take alot more, + to get a SC that can do more than 12PSI they cost so much, i want to run my setup just under 1bar and it should give me something like 400/430 BHP (not only that i do love the sound of the BOV :) )
