Happy New Year all

my comment was on the lexus. I had it mot'd at a new garage who seemed dodgy on Monday. And yesterday i start to get this problem with the lexus.
While the mot failed on my wifes car i understand that these failures were down to wear and tear so to speak and i agree the pads are gone since they not been replaced since it was bought new 4 years ago. i also agree the tyres need replacing but the cost of the wifes car and my potential costs are worrying.
i think my previous post was not clear in separating the 2 cars.

from what i can tell the smell is under the bonnet. I guess i will find out in the morning. wifes car failed mot 2 new tyres and brake pads and now this.
maybe i am jumping to conclusions but had my lexus mot'd Monday. garage seemed dodgy. since my usual guy was away so could not take there. Yesterday the lights come on. Coincidence.

Hi all
I do hope someone can help me from getting ripped of from my local garage.
I own a lexus is 220d se-l.
The Battery light and engine light remain on when car is started but goes of when on the move.
Does anyine know what the problem may be.
To shed light further the wife had the car yesterday and said she smelt an awful burning smell.
I am not mechanically minded so would not know if garage was giving me right info or not.
But i would like your experience to shed any light on this if you can.
AS always thanks to everyone who replies.

Done as you guys said and they're working now.
Thanks to all.

They just need re initialising. Just go to each individual window go all the way down and hold for a second then all the way up and hold. they should work by the drivers side now :)
Thanks John very much appreciated.

brilliant thanks for that. I will try it tonight when the wife brings the car back,
Excellent forum

Hi
I have noticed that my windows do not wind down via the switches on the driver side. I own a IS220d se-l.
Can anyone guide me as to what the issue may be? i have recently had to replace the Battery.
Two of the windows wind down from the control on drivers side other 2 do not. They all indivdually open via the switch on the individual doors.
Hope i am sounding clear in my explanation!
thanks again for your thoughts.

thanks to all the replies.
Much appreciated. Will see if it happens again. Have replaced Battery now.

Thanks for the reply.
Definitely no infant around.
As for pressing the unlock button for a prolonged time. Not 100 percent as it happened overnight and keys were in landing. Possible that the button was being pressed by the other car keys.
Battery was replaced today after this incident occurred as test indicated cells were faulty or damaged in Battery.

HI I have decided to do my own service since my local dealer has never by the looks of changed any of the filters and always told me he has also I have changed the brake pads and obviously oil filter.
When I go into info and them maintenance on my sat nav it shows all these lights lit up. How do I remove this so it registers that the service and the rest of these tasks have been completed?
Thank you yet again

Hi Guys
My lexus is 220d se-l is fitted with the following tyres:
front 225 45 r17
rear 245 45 r 17
i have been enquiring for new tyres (winter)
a local company suggets i replace rears with 2225 instead of 245 as both front and rear wheels ar 8J17.
I am not technical, mechanical when it comes to cars. Would it be ok to replace tyres with 225 45 r 17 throughtout?
Any thoughts
As always Thanks in advance

Hi All
with the recent weather conditions i have had so much trouble with my lexus getting stuck in the snow.
I have another rear wheel drive car by ford and that has been great with no problems.
But was stuck in snow 50 yards from home for 2 hours.
What tyres hacve other IS220d owners have and how have they been in this weather.
Does anyone run winter tyres because of this weather and change to summer tyres.
Dont want to waste money if they not reliable please and comments welcome.
Thanks

Hi have checked the floors they are completely dry so i can rule out the condenstaion drain. Will replace filter weekend and do air con clean to get rid of smell,
Much that it may not be something too expensive.
