  1. A crack on the boot lid has been found. Now to see whether the extend warranty will cover the repair or not?
  2. So, I was unable to find anything obvious when I stripped the boot lid and decided to take the car to Lexus Cardiff for some investigative work. I received a nice email from Chris at Cardiff; Hi Mr Aspey, I’ve phoned your mobile and left a message. We believe that it looks like it’s going in through the number plate light plinth. So we are going to strip it down and put it back on water test. We can see however though that it looks like it has had paint at some point in it’s life as we can see some over spray etc. Lee has asked if you’re ok to leave the vehicle with us over night and stay in the loan car for us to do some further investigation into the matter for you? Kind Regards Chris****** ****** Aftersales Consultant Lexus Cardiff Lexus Cardiff Hadfield Road | Cardiff | Wales Tel: 02920 348500 lee.***********@************ | www.lexus.co.uk/cardiff So, I have a nice 70 plate UX for another day while they continue to check for further water ingress.
  3. Ah, the plus side of buying a second hand (and older) Is.. You'll make the money back in fuel efficiency over other petrol cars and in reliability part wear.
  4. There are many arguments for and against. If you have any warranty (extended or otherwise) part of the terms and conditions so as to not invalidate the warranty, require the vehicle to have regular services. Once my extended warranty reaches its maximum mileage (150,000 miles) I'll then start using a local garage to service the vehicle. But for now, its service plans with Lexus to ensure the warranty remains valid.
  5. Yes, longer journeys really seem to like these cars when it comes to fuel economy. Short journeys and hills remind you that this is a big engined heavy car.
  6. Starting year 4 with my 13 plate Lexus Is300h Premier on 18' wheels. Yes, I struggle to get an average at 40 or higher. The entry level with smaller thinner wheels gets better MPG, but nowhere near the suggested figures. (but, it's 10mpg better than my first gen IS and only £10 a year emission tax, so I'm keeping quiet about fuel economy)
  7. @Maxz thank you so much, I will get in and have a good look.
  8. Yes, I might look at getting a new set of nuts all round, just to have them look 'clean'. It's a little annoying that 8 years and this is the state of them. At least the first gen had caps that went over them.
  9. I couldn't see my signature on the mobile version, just switched to desktop view and yes, I need to change my signature. Lol Also, I haven't used Fuelly in a while...
  10. It is an option, but the car was dropped off on Friday. 🤣
  11. Yes, I completely understand the logic vs upfront costs, my arguments are that I have spent £250+ less than months ago and the tyre wear is less than 500 miles. I simply cannot justify changing the tyres this soon. Yes, while the tyres are being taken off the rim for them to be refurbed would make sense to have new tyres fitted, but the tyres coming off are effectively new anyway. When the tyres need to be changed, I will certainly look at the Michelin and Bridgestone and other premium tyres as the increase in cost is not that much more than what I have paid for silly name budgets. This I am not arguing with.
  12. When the next tyres are needed, I will of course look to pay extra for better quality and road handling.
  13. Completely understand, but I only purchased my tyres back in November, what with lockdown, I doubt if I've even done 500 miles on them.
  14. The tyres currently on the car were only fitted in November, so at the rate I'm driving, I dare say they won't need to be replaced until 2022. Lol. Costco were offering the same price that the Lexus dealership were, so no savings there.
  15. Costco do tyre fitting.... Very interesting to know. I'll check them out for prices.
  16. I believe the tyres were new at the point of purchase and not retread or part worn
  17. Budget tyres are always an arguing point and one I'm not going to spend much time defending. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Three-A/P606.htm https://whattyre.com/products/roadcruza-ra710/104980/ Despite being budget tyres, they set me back £250 fully fitted and balanced. Yes, I completely understand that Dunlop / Bridgestone / Pirelli are better tyres, but £150+ per tyre sure hurts my head. Lol.
  18. Yes, this is simply curbing and jet washing over 4 years gradually getting worse and worse and worse. The wheels were originally dipped instead of being a standard painted wheel, so they look a lot worse than if they were a curbed alloy wheel.
  19. The car is going in tomorrow and I'll be picking it up next Wednesday.
