  1. Mines the horn version. Are you telling me I need to poke a screwdriver into the corner of the large grey unit, drop it out and disconnect the wire? Is that how you do it? When you say pull the wire out, does that effectively kill the light unit completely? Cheers.
  2. What sort of sensors are they? From my Merc days interior sensors are usually ultrasonics with a small grille on the front, exposed. If its behind the light panel and under the roof lining, that sounds a bit odd. Would be great to know type of sensors and whether the lining needs to be dropped. Cheers
  3. How do you disconnect the interior sensors please? Where are the sensors? What I did was I turned my interior light panel to 'off' and now it's quiet...not sure how long for. Cheers
  4. Hi, I've had my car for just over a month, however this afternoon the alarm just keeps sounding every 2 mins. I have to have my keys/remote glued to my hand. HELP!!!! What can I do to resolve? I have open/shut all doors, boot, bonnet etc... Thanks, Sachin
  5. Hi. Sounds like your master cylinder. Get it checked by a garage or mechanic. Regards.
  6. Here's mine. IS 300 Auto, 41k, Full Lexus Main Agent history (11 stamps) in ice silver, recently refurbed alloys and a new Sport grille!
  7. ...and here are my wheels, or wheel. Diamond polished with sprayed internals in silver fleck metallic. I left my centre caps anonymous, no logo!
  8. Guys, sorry to butt in but can you recommend some decent locking wheel nuts for stock 17" 5-spokes for a 2002 IS300? Mine are rusted like anything and some of the metal caps have fallen off. Cheers!
  9. Guys...how on earth do i get the bottom console out, the one with the heated seats and traction button? I've seen lots of videos of people just yanking out the plastic, the problem is that there's nowhere to put your fingers to pull! Help please! Thanks.
  10. Guys - does anyone have clues behind the noise? Is this common on all Lexus IS 200/300? My car has been through the dealers, I've had the wheels refurbed and rebalanced, tyres are all like new, but when i brake at high speed 50/60mph+ I do notice a hollow judder sound coming from the back. Regards, S
  11. Does anyone have an inventory of led bulbs for the whole car? I saw a post a fortnight ago buried deep in this forum but now I can't find it! Cheers.
  12. Petay, Good video but I would not trust that as he made a couple of shortcuts. 1) you must never mix anything else but the fluid. 2) you must use lexus approved auto fluid not just any fluid 3) before you take it for a drive, you have to put the cars through p,r,n,d and then recheck levels before taking on the open road. Although 90% correct, I would not follow it word for word. Regards, Sachin
  13. You are right guys.... My lips are now sealed! Cheers.
  14. Hi, It's 10deg C this evening, slightly mild but not exactly a summers evening. Was in a slow moving jam, only had the car for 2 weeks but driven 5 miles, but noticed the rad fan kicked in at least 4 times but temp gauge was 1 point below half way mark so engine wasn't overheating. Is this normal? BTW I have an IS300 2002 done 42k miles. Cheers.
  15. Got my car late afternoon. Checked the oil, it's clear red just like a diluted cherry coke. The gear changes are smooth as butter...tried to replicate the 'take it slow' approach and the gears change 1,2,3,4,5 as I can feel via the car and rev counter. Kick down kicks in quick and car goes like a rocket - it now makes a turbo noise when it goes through the gears, I think the whizz could be the air flow / stock air filter. I checked the gearbox oil dipstick, can't work out how much is in there as the stick is 1m or more long and it's a real bugger to take in and out as I assume it goes into various twists and turns. P,R,N,D happens smooth with no slight clunk I used to get - wasn't noticeable prechange but post-change its like new. Anyway, we'll worth the change. By a local Main Agent too!
  16. No tow bar. I think it's an age thing. Hot/cold/age - all of that takes its toll. Its at the dealer this morning - its not a big job, should have it back later this afternoon when I get time to pick it up so will report back on how the gearbox feels and colour of new oil. I used to have a Hyundai Coupe 2.0 SE Auto, when the dealer did the oil change at 50k/5years, to be honest I didn't notice a single thing! Watch this space.
  17. I think so...it's going in tomorrrow so I will find out. Don't forget I have had the cambelt done and other things so the dealer isn't doing me a huge favour as he's still making profit out of me...think about it, he's going to loosen a nut, leave my car on a ramp for 10 mins to drain most (obviously oil will be left in the valves, torque converter etc...) of the oil and then refill through the dipstick back to what it was. He will then start it up, go through the gears (P,R,N,D,2 etc...), stop the engine. Re-check levels, re-top up if necessary - and that's it! So it's £40 oil and 30mins labour = £85! Regards, Sachin
  18. Guys, I think we are getting lost in a miriad of other discussions that are slightly off-topic. Please refer to my post a few days ago that was lost in the fog... I repeat it here: ------------- I am the original poster...glad to see this topic is 'hot'. I checked my gearbox oil on my 41k 2002 IS300 Auto, it is a dark red - like a dark red wine colour and not transluscent. It's not black like 12-15k mile engine oil would be, but still has its redness. I called my local dealer stealer who did my cambelt the other week, they will charge me around £85 for the change - is that a good price? Sounds very good to me! Service man at the stealer said not all the oil can come out of the torque converter, so will drain best he can and reload with fresh oil. He will just be draining the oil, topping it up with fresh stuff. Bring engine and gearbox to operating temp and then check the levels. He will then let it rest, bring car back to operating temp and re-check levels again. As far as filter is concerned - there isn't one, hence hardly any parts used apart from oil and I assume sump washer. What exactly is the strainer - is it a non-servicable item? When I asked what oil they use, he said that it will be the Lexus original stuff as you cannot mix and match due to oil remaining in the torque converter - i guess a cocktail will lead to issues. ----------- Does the above sound right from people who have had experience with Auto Gearbox oil change on their IS 300? TIA. Sachin

  20. hi, just want to get a verdict if people go for silver tipped bulbs so that the lens doesnt have the fried egg look or normal orange bulbs? Are the silver tipped ones as good as they claim to be. I need to hear from you guys who have experience of these bulbs. furthermore, are the lexus rear indicator 581 offset pins or straight pins - there are two types...see this: =581%20bulb%20straight%20pins&filters[primary]=images"]http://media.beta.photobucket.com/user/wlwltd/media/581_Orange_Indicator_bulbs.jpg.html?filters[term]=581%20bulb%20straight%20pins&filters[primary]=images and http://www.hgvdirect.co.uk/catalog/images/bulbs/bulb_ba15s.gif ? Im confused! Does anyone have any idea which one fits? I have an IS300 2002 year model. I don't have a screwdriver as I'm away from home. Help! Cheers. S
  21. That's it, a strainer not a seive! What year and mileage is your car on? Was that work done at the main agents? Why did you need to change your gbox oil? Were there any symptoms prior to the oil change? Thanks.
  22. Yes, I do mean ECT PWR button - when do you actually turn it on? I know it makes the gearchange quicker and i guess it uses more fuel than without, but just want to make sure from other drivers out there of the IS 300. Will get my fluid checked. I phoned my main agent to get a flavour of cost, they said it will be £85 (I guess plus fluid cost) to get it done. Apparently it doesn't have a filter but a seive - is that correct? Cheers.
