  1. Brilliant towcar - often pulling on just electric - very stable with a 'van around 1500kg - unless you are looking at one of the newer wide bodied twin axle jobs, you should have no problem. Just make sure you have enough user payload in the caravan, as this is often the main issue with capacity of both car and caravan load limits.
  2. I am still waiting to get my canbus fitted - in the meantime I am using a good old Halfords sourced crook lock on the steering wheel - clearly visible and an extra deterrent - on top of this the car is always double locked - if they can still get away wiht my pride and joy, then I know I have done all I can.
  3. You can always negotiate, and even if they won't drop the price, they may throw in some extras, such as roof rails, or anything else vital to you, even an updated satnav?
  4. I have never used clamp on mirrors - find they are not rigid enough. I have a pair that use strong rubber straps that go round the body of the car mirrors, one end is permanently attached to the towing mirror, the other end is attached to the other side of the towing mirror after stretching the strap quite tight. The strap is fully adjustable for any size mirror, and mine have now done a Toyota Camry, lex 400h, and now the 450h, and are probably nearly 15 years old. From a google search they are Ring Towing Mirror (Twin Pack)
  5. I tow a caravan with the RX, so went to Caravan club Greenflag, and same cover as Lexus, but without Europe, as I don't need it, and cover for car and caravan comes in at £105. Moving cover now.
  6. Anyone else had a renewal for Lexus Roadside Assistance recently? Just had mine through, gone up 24%, to £155. I presume Lexus are having as laugh, as even though the service is good, that is a ridiculous rise, and sees me changing assistance provider.
  7. Haven't got the exact figures, as I can't remember the full price - somewhere around £1300/£1400 I think I was quoted - ended up paying a straight £1000. Which is a huge amount, compared with the £300 it cost on my old 400h. BUT, this is a removable ball unit, and the socket swings back up under the bumper, so looks very neat when not in use, so if I had a removable bar on the 400h, I think this price is about double, after discount. The price may also have reflected that I got a set of roof bars included for free.
  8. Sure, I can find it by post-code, but last RX 400h, had all National Trust properties in POI tab - why have they dropped it in the latest version, or is there a setting I am missing?
  9. Hi All, Just tried searching for a National Trust property in satnav, couldn't find the property. Checked other NT property names, and it seems the satnav does not hold any NT properties in this version. Previous 400h model satnav had all NT properties. Anyone any ideas pleaase? Is this a satnav setup issue. Tried searching manual, etc, but couldn't find anything. Thanks. Rob
  10. Pictures from my 2016 450h tow bar fitting - quite neat
  11. Hi Ron - I also have a Lexus approved and fitted towbar on my 450h gen4. The tow bar and 13 pin have pre-defined boxes they fit in, and the cutouts should be as close to the edges of the boxes as possible. Mine are very close, they could be even more accurate, but they are close enough for me. Mine was fitted by Lexus Cardiff who were very caring about how things were done.
  12. On a related point, on a 4th gen 450h, I have the red cover over the positive as shown above, together with an uncovered similar point, which is presumably the negative - Can these points be used for trickle charging when the car is laid up? It is a right pain to have the boot partially open to have a trickle charge feed direct to the battery.
  13. I have a Gen 4 with dealer fitted towbar, bought as part of the negotiated second hand car package. Checked all suppliers for a Gen 4 towbar before purchase, and even Witter do not do one, so it has to be Lexus part and Lexus fitted. Also saves warranty issues. It is a removable towbar, and the electric socket hinges up into a space underneath out of the way very neatly. Yes it can be pricey, but if you get the Owners Club Gold Card and use the discount on that, it makes it more feasible. The Gen 4 is a dream caravan towcar, despite most of the caravan pundits espousing diesel. I average about 25 mpg towing 29 cwt single axle.
  14. Had exactly the same issue last week, and a couple of times previously. Only solution seems to be to delete the pairing on both phone and car, and re-pair. I also found that after this I lost all my contacts in the car phone system - took a couple of days for the pairing to settle down, and then I could re-load contacts. No idea what causes this, but it is a right pain.
  15. Thanks Herbie - good idea - odd that the phone has worked fine for months, and then decided it is unhappy - I have a full signal on the phone. It is an Android Motorola, with as far as I know, no software updates, and the phone bluetooths with my laptop, so I am running out of ideas.
