  1. Thanks everyone, the 450h seems to be the general consensus. In regards to spec is there anything a must and to look out for? I think for me it would be a sunroof (got two in the S class) and the wide screen nav. I've got a CVT Honda Jazz in the family and must say it's a horrible gearbox but that's probably because it's mated to a 1.4. A V6 must be a different beast all together. The S class pick up is quite agressive with considerable turbo lag. 0-60 is mid 7's so it's not a slow car for it's bulk
  2. Hi Guys, I've always been tempted by the Lexus GS and currently own a 2006 long wheel base S class. A fantastic car but a proper money pit..if it wasn't so unreliable I would keep it for 10 years. Anyway I'm in the market now looking to PX my S class with a GS and two models that have caught my eye are the GS300h and 450h. I've sat in the 450h and was very impressed and knowing Lexus's reliability I am now edging towards the latter. My current car averages 29 mpg and is a 3.0 litre diesel, so in terms of poke it's more than I need. I have a 2 year old who is getting fed up of using the pram so boot space isn't the biggest issue for me anymore so the questions are which one would you recommend? I'm really tempted by the 300h economy and running costs but worried about the acceleration as i'm not one to hang about (probably why my merc keeps breaking). The 450h is the more viable option but I do about 20,000 miles a year so fuel economy on the motorway is a big factor. Which one would you recommend? Also is there a must have in terms of spec? I want to spend about 16k and looking on autotrader this is the entry level for both types of cars.
  3. Hi Guys, I've been on the lookout for a GS450h for a few years but due to other commitments I couldn't take the plunge. I'm in a position now to be able to get one but I'm also an expectant father :) I've heard that the boot space on a 2007 GS450h is about as big as an ants backside so was wondering have/can you put a pram in the 450H boot? I haven't purchased a pram yet.
  4. The blb engine range were a ticking time bomb in regards to reliability. Injector failure was also common on the 2.0 tdi. Audi cars dont have much standard spec, unless you pay through the nose at the dealers for extras. Also they are common as muck.
  5. Yes, the thought of 40mpg is what appeals to me as I do around 20k a year. My budget stretches up to a 58 plate or 57 se-l.
  6. Hi Guys, I'm looking to buy a used lexus IS250. I currently own an E60 530D but due to BMW's excellent reliability record and punching me in the ribs with over 5k in repairs over 2 years I've decided to look at the Lexus IS250 brand (love my automatics) Now I'm a bit confused on the specs - I've seen the SE spec and SE-L spec and though I like the latter my budget would suit a good spec SE. Does the SE spec come with Sat nav/reverse cam as standard? Also do these cars come with a sunroof as standard? My 530D gave me an average of 35 mpg so the running costs may be similiar without the diesel breakdown headaches. Can I get a general overview of these cars from the owners? I've looked on youtube for a video review but can't find anything indepth worthy of UK roads. Thanks
