  3. Thanks fellas, some great points there, I think I will keep an eye out for Goodyears, checked my treads yesterday and I have 2 on 3mm and 2 4mm so I've probably got at least the summer before I need to sort them, thanks.
  4. Hi fellas, I'm soon going to need a new set, maybe over the summer sometime and thought I would ask for some suggestions please. I know its been asked a million times but with new tyres coming along etc I thought it would be ok me asking. My Is200 is currently on Potenza RE050 tyres, down to 3-4mm which I find very loud so would like something quieter if poss. I've got these 4 in mind so opinions welcome :-) http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Falken/ZE914.htm http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Falken/FK453.htm http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Goodyear/Eagle-F1-Asymmetric-2.htm http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Dunlop/SportMaxx-RT.htm Thanks
  5. I've got to say they look superb, not many styles go well on the IS imo but these are very smart!
  6. How is it since matey? still got a smooth pull away or has the judder returned?

  8. Theres one just gone on on Ebay, item number 300897992484
  9. Sorry I can't help your question but any idea how come the temp and mpg guages are switched around from how mine are?
  10. Not far mate, how much did they charge you . Erm again, I kind of knew the guy, worked with him in a way years ago, so I got a decent "trade" price. For the job he did though I would have paid whatever he asked and I was prepared to as well. Give him a buzz, his name is Ian, my name is Steve (with the Silver IS200, small dents in near side rear door) see what he says 07774715592, Goodluck.
  11. istanbul05 are you anywhere near St Helens, I had 3 knocked out of my door by The Dent Man there last week, really nice fella and the door now has no marks on what so ever
  12. I've only just had mine refurbed, even though they were only very slightly corroded, the fella showed me how the corrosion 'pits' the alloy, he had an air-powered sander to try and take the alloy down far enough past the corrosion but it wasn't easy, but got there after abit of patience. As I said my wheels were actually very decent, I'm just a bit fussy, worse wheels would need shot blasting and repairing which he reckoned could be done for around £200 a set.
  13. Well, got the dents done, when I got there, I knew the guy who owns The Dent Man franchise that I went to, I last saw him over 13 years ago and he remembered me! lol small world ay!. Nothing else got done as it was too windy :-)
  14. Wow I cant believe those pics are taken through a reflection! Thats like new again!
  15. Well after having my IS for 2months, I've finally got round to the due, 10year service so on Thursday my day starts with a visit to The Dentman to get 2 5p dings out of the left rear door, then off to Lexus to pick my mudflaps up. I already have my Quantum Longlife3 Oil, genuine Air, Cabin and Oil filters, sump washer, Castrol axle oil and Brake fluid and Mintex front pads. Since I bought it I've put a genuine belt and tensioner on, had the wheels refurbed, painted up the callipers and disc faces including having the rear discs off to checkand adjust the drum shoes which were like new and fixed my passenger heated seat. Got a genuine touch up stick to fill a tiny chip on the bonnet and 1 on the roof and got some LED side light bulbs too. Then on Friday I may take a drive to Chester DVLA to get my plate on, goodtimes eh....:-) Feel free to add what, in your mind makes a great chill day.......
  16. White Spirit is th best for this and its a cheap fix too. Gonna be getting some OEM mudflaps this week cos theres so much grime getting flicked up the side of my IS. £60 though but he-ho, if you love you don't count and all that
  17. Thought I'd add to this to save a opening a new topic, I have a private plate on retention, Its not personal just a dateless plate, just looking for what people think should I assign it or flog it, its IXI 662
  18. Unbolt the seat Petay, there are 2 wiring connectors under the front of the seat, leave the 2 wiring looms connected, then tilt it backwards and put something under to stop in falling forward, you can then check the wires whilst it is all connected up. The yellow connector is the airbag so be careful and leave well alone lol, the other has 4 wires, 2 thicker ones which is the power supply and negative to the seat, these are what put the 'big' power to the seat, if the seat is adjusting position o.k.then these will be working fine. Then there are 2 smaller wires, 1 for the seatbelt flashing light (when the seat is sat in this becomes live and turns the flashing seatbelt light on, on the dash and then when the seatbelt is clicked in it will turn the live back off) and finally 1 which just tells the heated seat to turn on or off. It was the same colour out of the switch and into the seat and that is red with a thin green stripe. Before you do all this though pull the switch housing out by putting your hand underneath it and sliding it towards the gearstick, then swap the switches over which will eliminate a switch fault if the seat still doesn't heat up.
  19. Thanks for the replies, yeah the oil I have is 0w-30 but my understanding this is a better oil i.e, thinner at colder temps than 5w-30 but anyway I think I will swap it for the Quantun Longlife3. Also i mis-read the book and the gearbox oil would not need doing til120k.Does anyone know if any special keys needed for the axle or manual gearbox top and bottom bungs? Oh and Peteay no, I had a live coming out of the switch so i knew the switch was fine but no live going into the seat and as I figured there was no relay or fuse between these 2 points I just cut the wire and replaced the length from switch output to the seat input and all works fine now.
  20. Hi all, my name is Steve, I'm a recent new owner of an 03 silver IS200, really love the car more than any others I've had. Its 1 owner with full Lexus history which I verified before I purchased, I also spoke to the previous owner who was an elderly lady who had just retired from driving. My question is, I'm going to service it myself and so, a few weeks back when I bumped into a friend who works in a Audi main Dealer, I picked up their listed oil, Synta ED, which now I have checked and is 0w-30 grade. Would this be o.k. do you think? or should I change it for the letter for letter correct type? Also, its due a 10 year service do you think it is worth changing the gearbox and axle oils, anti-freeze and brake fluid as per service or should I just check levels and condition? (anti-freeze and brake fluid look and test like new). Finally, I've done the belt with the help from a top Master Tech and have just fixed the only issue, the pass seat heater wasn't working which I figured was the lack of a live between the switch and seat, I have just replaced the wire and all is great now! Thanks for any help:-)
