  1. Hi guys wondering if you could help me .My is200 mot failed due to suspension arm attachment bracket/mounting likely to become detached offside rear. I was told due to corrosion I would need 4 subframes fitted at the back totalling £200 plus around 250 labour. Does this sound right? Surley the mounting just needs to be fixed. Should I go for a second opinion ? Thanks
  2. I would like to add that it does not make this noise when driving slowly over bumps or if I push down on the back of the car
  3. Hi i started noticing a noise from the back right tyre area that sounds like a squeaky rattle noise similar to a trampoline. It only occurs when driving over rough roads and bumps. I can also only hear it when the right windows are down. Does anyone have any idea? thanks
  4. Hi according to the mechanic it was the backing plate
  5. Cheers guys for the quick responses you have put me at rest. The only reason I was concerned is because I get this strange clanging noise from the front when I break suddenly during a turn and I thought this was something to do with it. I’m taking it into the garage anyway to check the noise out. Think it might be the loose backing plate
  6. Hi this screw from the picture attached fell from my car and made an awful noise as it bounced around. I’m thinking it’s from the cover tray below as posted. Can anyone confirm ? thanks
  7. Your bang on. They prey on most of their customers having no car knowledge at all. When I last visited they advise me there is no record of cambelt being changed. Now to a normal person this would cause concern but I advised him that it was changed 50k miles ago and according to you its every 6 years or 100k. He then said I just pass on what the technician says.
  8. Weird design compared to other manufacturers but seems sturdy. I see how it goes just might later add some nuts and washers if I feel there is an issue. Remember to use a thread lock . Thanks for all your help guys.
  9. He was a mechanic . I spoke to 2 lexus parts departments . The exhaust i have is very similiar to the oem design . They advised that the oem bolts which I'm using to connect the rear and centre are captive nut. They are designed to thread into the phlanj plate. They advised even an oem nut does not exist.
  10. I finally spoke to the guys who installed my exhaust my they said Yeah as the flange which is the plate is threaded no need for bolt
  11. The holes are threaded. I saw the guy use a torque wrench on the the two bolt heads on top of the spring until he could not tighten anymore
  12. I had my exhaust rear and central silencer replaced. I have attached an image. Are the resonator spring bolts missing nuts at the end or is this normal set up??? I can see a flat head at the top of the threaded bolt on the other side of the plate which seems to secure the bolt thread in to the plate. It seems really solid and there's no movement at all. Thanks
  13. I originally had some noise my car was making near the right side drivers tyre and my independent mechanic advised all was well with no play last week. I visited the dealer for a second opinion today and What shocked me is the issues they find. My mechanic advised my ball joints were fine. Lexus advised there was excessive play and it was so unsafe they refused to test drive it and made me sign a paper . What's strange is I jacked it up straight after and tried to find play and the wheel is solid. What's strange also when I visited them last month they gAve me a list of problems that this month magically dissappeared. For example they advised the drive belts were worn and needed to be replaced even though they were replaced and only had 12k miles on them. This time they never brought it up. Last month they advised to change my brake fluid. They advised the same again this month but this time said I need to change the reservoir Cap as it's not oem and can explode off. It's the same cap ad last month and is definitely oem. It's in Japanese. It seems loose but I'm sure they damaged it. Can I trust them????
