  1. When I was a young Police Officer I was told that there are two things that you can't tell a man, a) His wife is ugly, and b) He is a bad driver
  2. " I wonder what the Government will do to make up the shortfall in speeding fines though? " I guess they are hoping that a drop in fatal accidents, with their cost to emergency services and the economy will make up the shortfall
  3. Albeit a later model, my audio developed a fault last year and was luckily replaced under warranty. I was told that the new unit cost something like £3k, so if the one on eBay is the right one for you then it looks like a bargain.
  4. Certainly let us know how you get on and any differences between your current and new car, as this is a move that I will be making in the next year or so.
  5. Though I don't have PCS, I thought the radar sensor was located behind the front Lexus badge. I have no idea what this might be.
  6. I might be wrong, but do Lexus do an Extended Warranty on the LS? The last time I looked at the prices they were not quoting a price for the LS. I assumed that if you can afford to run an LS you can afford whatever costs it throws at you. Returning back to topic, I will be looking to change my GS450 in 2-3 years and am resigned to getting a late 450 or maybe even a GS300 as the 450's are mighty rare.
  7. I remember mention a while back that Hybrids should not be jump started as it can cause electrical issues soon afterwards. Could that have been the cause in this case?
  8. I recently had my 7 year old GS re-gassed. By the time we got into the warm weather it was struggling badly and failing to cool the car. Performance had tailed off over a while, so I guessed that it was not a catastrophic failure. I had it done by my dealer who checked and confirmed no leaks and he also mentioned about keeping it on full time to protect seals. It is marvellous now, so quiet in this weather.
  9. I doubt that it is the button in the glove box. I had an issue last week where the only way to open the boot was with the key but it was locking fine. I felt a right fool phoning Lexus for them to suggest that I press the button in the glove box. This issue seems different, as if the self closing thing isn't working
  10. I haven't driven the car myself for a while (2011 GS450h) but my wife has reported that when she goes around a corner, the audio goes off, the screen shows "Audio Off" and she has to turn it back on again. Has anyone experienced anything similar and does anyone know whether the warranty will cover fixing it? Thanks
  11. Apparently not, as I have requested this myself of the dealer, both on my previous car, a 55 plate GS and my current one an 11 plate GS. It seems that it is only an option on the mk4 (2012 onwards). I have heard of kits that people have bought that can do it and perhaps someone has a price for one of those.
  12. The screen display says they are in Wilford, which if correct suggests somewhere in Nottingham, which given the postcode you are quoting in the Autotrader ad (which suggests they are 79 miles away) sounds about right.
  13. It is a high price. £16k is what I paid for my GS450h, also on an 11 plate but lower miles, 3 years ago. And I got three years warranty thrown in. They may struggle to sell that one.
  14. Though they are the only Lexus dealer I have used, I have always been impressed by the service at Listers, Cheltenham. There are several little jobs that they have done for free, that I expected to pay for.
  15. The price will depend on whether you have the DVD mapping or the HD. As Pete says above, the DVDs, or copies, are relatively cheap. If you have the HD system then i think the cost is in the region of £140, as it is only the dealer that can update it.
  16. I am a bit behind with this thread but I once triggered the Check VSC after filling the car with fuel and adding some Redex to the mix. Once the tank was empty and refilled, the light went out pretty quickly
  17. You may want to check the exhaust. Any holes near the O2 sensor can trigger the VSC light
  18. I guess white and black are always going to look dirty shortly after washing, which is why so many go for a neutral grey, as they can go longer between washes. (I'm not talking about Lexus owners of course - we keep our cars spotless regardless of colour).
  19. Thanks for starting this thread as I will be making the same move sooner or later, as I am sure others will. Please keep us updated with any other differences and similarities that you might find and don't forget those pictures that you promised us.
  20. For the price of one years map update from Lexus, i have a TomTom sat nav with free map updates and traffic updates for the life of the unit. Not as aesthetically pleasing maybe but i would rather move my eyes to another part of the windscreen than all the way to the central console, to see where i am going.
  21. It looks as though someone justified the Lexus; it is now marked as sold.
  22. Yes, heated washer nozzles is not too much to ask for on a car of this type, perhaps wired into the rear screen / wing mirror heaters.
  23. i believe that it was part of the ACC system - where fitted - and only operates when the radar is live. The reason why they are pretty vague about it is that it is designed as a supplementary system, to start the braking system, and they don't want people relying on it in the event of a collision. Whilst the system might be quicker to start braking thanthe driver, it is up to the driver to complete braking.
  24. Nor do I have any association with these people, but the one I ordered arrived today and works perfectly. Only enough room for one set of keys (especially with all the gubbins that my wife has on her keyring), so I shall happily order another.
