  1. Well we're taking a weekend out to put some miles on the clock and enjoy the LE to the full. My wife's just driven it for the first time and agrees with me that this one is less jittery than our last. Dealer says suspension set up is identical and all they've done is put Dunlop tyres on which are slightly softer. Gear change is smoother too, we think. Ciao for now.
  2. Picked up the new IS200 LE from Lexus, Exeter yesterday. Must say the dealer service and car prep were excellent. Rather than let Lexus Supaguard it I took her over to Taunton where Gary and Jeremy of Autogleam (01823 443633 -quick plug) applied Autoglym's "Lifeshine" treatment. This really brings the Kodiak Sky paintwork up and protects the leather upholstery. It's only been available for a year, is guaranteed for 10 years, or as long as you keep the car - and you still get a case full of cleaning goodies with it. So I had to take some pics before driving back to Chard by the most circuitous route I could think of. On such a beautiful day as this was I just wanted to keep driving. This weekend end we'll take her down to Devon and let her rip through some country lanes and coastal roads. Well that's the fantasy, anyway. The reality will be speed cameras and rain I expect. 3. I've been following this thread with great interest 'cos I'm not sure I want the car on order to be Supaguarded. I had our black Astra sxi done in 2001 and that looks like a dust bowl inside, while the exterior looks worse than the IS200 (same age) which wasn't treated. I have both cars washed and valeted by Autogleam in Taunton who, exclusively, use Auto-glym products and have kept both cars looking great for not very much money. As they offer their own post-delivery treatment for less than the £299 Lexus, Exeter want I think I'll use them. And I dont think I want Supaguard on the all leather seats of the LE, if it is such a dust magnet.
  4. Deepest commiserations. I read a report earlier today of a hacker lifting 5 million numbers from a company in the USA that processes internet payments for the likes of Paypal (the report didn't actually say Paypal). The company, from which the details were nicked, claim that nothing could have been done with them but they would, wouldn't they. Anyway I tried to find the link on BBC's business pages but couldn't so maybe it was in Motley Fools lunchtime e-mail (which I've deleted cos I'm foolish). Sorry 'bout that.
  5. I, too, found the site through a Google search.
  6. Our business here in Somerset is 24/7 365 days a year. We don't do holidays, right now, and even getting to Exeter to see our "local" dealer is hard to arrange. So we probably miss out on some special offers but I'm happy with the LE deal - and, probably more importantly so is my partner. I will be in Exeter tomorrow, though, and will mention these posts to Barry at Marsh Lexus.
  7. I agree, Tony, that there's a bit of marketing hype behind all this, but if Lexus, Exeter are to be believed the UK allocation was 350 cars back end of 2003 and 550 for 2004 registration. Not exactly flooding the market and offering some worthwhile add-ons while giving us peace of mind for another 3 years. All in all it seems a good package. I think I may be using the Tesco Astra a bit more than usual until March 1st, though. :duh:
  8. Thanks for your replies and the outcome is.... Lexus, Exeter have just pressed the button and ordered an LE for March 1st registration ! All I have to do now is keep this one safe for a few weeks. I hate that bit. Our South Somerset roads leave much to be desired and are awash with elderly drivers waiting to launch surprise attacks, tractors lying in ambush and pot-holes the depth of Loch Ness. Thank goodness it's not yet caravan season. I test drove the LE, last weekend, and it was great but the deal clincher is the offer of 3 years free servicing on cars registered before March 31st. Of course, HID lamps, full leather and the arm-rest all help. Damn, I'm excited now. :D
  9. I am considering chopping in our 2001 IS200 SE (Platinum Ice) for a new Limited Edition 200. Seems a good buy but it's a shame it doesn't come in Montrose Blue 'cos I love that colour. The Kodiak Sky looks a bit like a wet day in Somerset. Do you think the LE is worth going for, or is it just a marketing gimmick ? This is my first post. Sorry if it's a bit boring.
