  1. Couple of nights ago I was flashed a number of times by oncoming drivers. As there is no level control switch I must have an auto headlamp level control but there is no warning light in the instrument cluster. The following day I found that one of the headlamp washers had disappeared - how are they fitted? - can they just drop out? I am confused - please help John
  2. Thanks for the suggestions guys. The problem has now mysteriously disappeared but at least I have some ideas if it reappears. John
  3. At 60 mph and above my GS430 sometimes vibrates and judders, felt mainly through the steering wheel. Most times there is no problem, even in the 90s. Both front and rear pads have been replaced and Merrityre have balanced the wheels and adjusted the front toe alignment. Any suggestions would be much appreciated
  4. Can I fit 245/70 x 17s to improve ground clearance without body modifications? If not what are largest that can be accomodated? Any help or advice appreciated
  5. Hi Colin Thanks for sending info so quickly. I was able to locate fuse 2a straight away. Unfortunately the fuse was not the problem as it appeared sound but I replaced it anyway. What I thought was a small problem obviosly is not so I will have to look elsewhere. Thanks again Colin
  6. My Lexus is normally a dream but today Air Con doesn't work, the radio does not switch on, the clock does not display and remote locking is not working. When I think about looking for a fuse or a relay my problems begin. The cover to the fuses located in the passengers foot well is missing so I do not have a clue which fuses these are . The covers in the drivers foot well and engine compartment are not very helpful -numbers or Japanese. The handbook is a surprise - no clue to fuse identity Any help or advice would be much appreciated John
  7. MY WING MIRROR HAD AN ARGUMENT WITH A WING MIRROR COMING THE OTHER WAY AND THE KNOCK SEEMS TO UPSET SOMETHING - THE LITTLE NOB IN THE CENTRE OF THE DASH CONTROL IS LOCKED IN THE MIDDLE AND WILL NOT MOVE LEFT OR RIGHT TO ADJUST THE MIRRORS WHATEVER THE POSITION OF THE IGNITION KEY ANY IDEAS?
  8. Thanks Vasilis - you were spot on. Adjusted slack cable and and car takes off like a scalded cat only when I want it. John
  9. I have owned a 2002 GS for 6 months now and love it - wish I had bought Lexus years ago. There is little to complain about but one little niggle is the over sensative accelerator. It's fine when you want to brush off the pimply youth with the funny hair cut sitting next to you at traffic lights but if you want to give your passengers a smooth ride you have to be feather light with the throttle. The instant responce is particularly harsh in reverse. When my wife, who has sports car, is driving she doesn't notice that she nearly breaks my neck every time she takes off or perhaps she does it deliberatly. Is this on/off response a feature of the model or do I have a fault with my car? Is there some form of adjustment?
  10. Thanks to all for the input. The gear shift now makes sense but bee sting is still a bit of a mystery - it seems as if the actual bee sting was fitted as standard after a certain date but any other mobile fittings were an optional extra and I can't find any further information - the local Lexus salesman didn't have a clue about a model this old ??
  11. Recently bought GS300 2002 - Everything works and its great. However Theres a few things not covered in the handbook. What is the "bee sting" ariel, antenna on the roof - what does it do? -whats it for? Also There are buttons on either side of the steering wheel labelled "down" The explanation is obviously simple but until recently I have run old and classic cars without the gadgets. Any information appreciated
