  1. My wifes Pug 306 has autowipers and - APPARENTLY - the detector is glued to the screen behind the box that the mirror attaches to, and detects when the screen is being hit by raindrops! Now, whether thats the truth or just a loada boll**** I dont know, a guy with no axe to grind told me....... Presumably - if its the same on yours - the screen replacement my not have had the device reaffixed HTH
  2. Using it right now - its a bit grey around the edges - open 4 or 5 child windows and they sort of blur into each other using the installed colours Dunno, I'll play with it for a while and see, must say Firefox is my browser of choice We'll see................. <edit> Must say I quite like the blue colouring in the address line for page status. Status bar is as the top bar - just grey and small at 1280/1024 The Safari window hogs the screen when maximised, you cant show the taskbar with the mouse if you have it hidden without hitting the windows key AND WHY CANT YOU STRETCH THE WINDOW USING ANY EDGE?????? I know thats how Macs work but ITS NOT HOW WINDOWS WORKS Having the subwindow close x at the left instead of the right is just confusing - especially when its all just different shades of grey </edit>
  3. Cheers for all the replies Well thanks Harold, must admit I hadnt thought of a Harrier. Are they reliable? What sort of things go wrong as they are now getting a bit long in the tooth? Dave
  4. So.....Loads of questions............... What specifics should I look for (apart from the obvious) when buying? Does the 'lurching' problem affect all RX's? I will be towing a 1500kg caravan regularly, does anyone else? (If you dont want to admit it - just pm me hehehe) If you tow anything, does the lurching cause a problem? Which one would I be able to get with a budget of around 8k? Thanks in advance Dave
  5. Just returning to my office through the carpark, and a guy jumps into his 400h to drive away. Now I've never heard one of these close up so thought 'this'll be interesting, they are supposed to be silent without much load' so then to my surprise, it started and sounded just like a normal car (much louder relatively speaking than my LS). Whats occuring? He just drove away with the car making all the normal sounds a car with an engine makes! So much for silence! Any thoughts?
  6. Try here http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-came...inePix-S9500/p1 for a review - sounds like a brilliant camera - your pics are good!
  7. Nice looking site Chris!
  8. Frontpage is a good starting point - just dont look at the HTML produced by it - its horrendous! Buzzwords: Dreamweaver is a very complex experts only piece of kit but great if know what you are doing - EXPENSIVE! Visual Studio - as Dreamweaver Arachnophilia - good HTML writing software - nicely coloured - FREE Notepad - thats all you actually need to write a webpage but its a bit masochistic - FREE ! A good place to start with HTML is http://www.w3schools.com/html/ - a free online course - then just Google for "html tutorials" and the worlds your oyster so to speak! Then, once you have your artistic gem created - look in your docs for your ISP or just ring them to find out how, and you can upload it to YOUR website!
  9. For us that do it for a living (and there are a few here) its easy, but for those that work at other things (loads of them) its a maybe a bit harder! As you (probably) have your own internet connection with an ISP, 99% of them give you your own webspace to do with as you will (within reason) for free. A personal webpage is easy enough to create initially, but like everything else, the difficulty goes up with the more techy you want to get!
  10. These http://www.superflex.co.uk/SuperFlex_Lexus...S400_Prices.pdf are even cheaper!!!!!!! However your old ones will probably need burning out - about an hour a side I've been told - unless you can do it yourself! HTH Dave
  11. Michael Caine - The Italian Job Humour, car chases, daft quotes, a film to watch again and again - timeless
  12. When I first saw this post I agreed , then I tried it through confused.com, I got RAC cover for £206 and I live NW Kent! :D RAC seems pretty good at the moment.
  13. Thanks for the comments guys, think I'll go for option 4 - just ignore the consumption and drive around in luxury - you only live once - contrary to what Ian Fleming would have us believe!! As an aside, my mates actually bought some for his 328 beemer, I'll see how he does..........................
  14. A mate passed this www.ums.myffi.biz website to me as a source of a possible fuel saving. Has anyone any knowledge of their products or is it all just more bull$hit. Cheers Dave edit - title should have said 'Fuel burning' fingers eh......
  15. I've been looking for these for my mk4 (2000). Superflex show these as being for 89-94. Don't suppose you'd know whether they would fit mine as I can't find seem to find anyone selling them for a mk4? Not a clue I'm afraid - best idea is to contact them I would think. They may fit or Superflex may have the correct ones on another page Contact details for them are here http://www.superflex.co.uk/ HTH Dave
  16. Another year passes, another MOT passed first go with no preparation (except crossing fingers of course)! I have NEVER had a car this predictable! They did mark a couple of cautions - the rear trailing arm bushes have a very small amount of play and will probably need replacing before next years MOT! HUH...... its done 164000 miles and thats all thats required! Hey ho, I'll probably go to http://www.superflex.co.uk/SuperFlex_Lexus...S400_Prices.pdf and get some. For £14.44 each side and a bit of time I think I can put up with that! Aint Lexii lovely motors....................
  17. I have a Visorblade that sits on the ashtray and all I do when I get in the car is switch it on and it pairs automatically, the phone stays in my pocket, to receive a call, it rings, you press a button and talk, when finished just press another. To make a call (only when stationary o'course ossifer :D ), press the same button as picked up the call and it uses voice tags to dial. The battery life is HUGE! The phone never leaves your pocket. Dave
  18. I got a set from here http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/ 2 years ago - they still work fine, great service and price. my2p Dave
  19. Its been around before but it doesnt hurt to reiterate, go see this site http://www.freewebs.com/illusoryfreedom/donation.html and give a few clicks, get all warm and fuzzy inside! Dave :D :D :D
  20. Dave I have had only about a third of my tacho needle for 4 years now, the bit that died went all in one go and has not changed since. However, if you find out what to change, I would be interested Cheers Dave
  21. Anyone know of a good solid hosted discussion board in UK that I can use for one of our customers? It needs to be customisable and not ad supported (meaning we are quite willing to pay). Is it something that LOC would consider or do already? Cheers Dave
  22. Could be as simple as the cable failed / pulled out of PC or monitor slightly/ Video card failing. Make sure all the plugs are well in before doing anything else, if thats no better, open the PC and reseat the video card.
