  2. Have you tried these people http://www.lostcarkeys.co.uk/ They may be able to help HTH Dave
  3. lutonmatt - I dont think that I've been in luton garage (not even sure where it is!) but if thats where you work I might drop in sometime. I some 'sport' with a black LS with dark windows on the Hoath Way a couple of years ago but not seen it since. Dave
  4. I'm waiting for the same answer! So far its flumoxxed 2 of my mates who consider themselves to be 'mechanics' (and me obviously), trouble is, it looks like it might break and cost a fortune to replace, so I just replace the rubbers every time its needed! Cheers Dave
  5. As the title says, sometimes (infrequently) I will start the car and drive off with the speedo sitting firmly on the stop. Get up to about 20 mph and it springs into life. Doesnt matter whether its cold or hot, wet or dry, it just happens occasionally - 3 times so far this year!!! Obviously its not a problem problem but it would be nice to know what causes it if anyone can throw light on the solution. Cheers Dave
  6. I have yellow fogs on my MkII british version too - I think they are cr4p! I 've just put Silverstar 50% brighter bulbs in my main and dips and while the colour of the light is whiter - I'm not so sure that I can see any better! Dave
  7. Steve its very rare that a computer goes so titsup that you permanently lose everything unless someones taken a hammer to the hard drive, which after all is where the datas held. I am sure that with a bit of effort I could retrieve most if not all of your data and return it to you. PM or reply if you are interested Bear in mind I'm off to France for the weekend tomorrow (Friday) lunchtime so I may not see a reply till I get back. Cheers Dave
  8. I must be unlucky, I'm on my 4th Netgear router, a Belkin USB dongle failed after a week, and a Netgear 108 PC adaptor lasted a week - taking that back today. Draytek are supposed to be the dogs danglies but a bit expensive, but I think I will go for the Vigor 600 from ADSLWarehouse at 29.99, it cant be worse than Belkin/DLink/Netgear etc.....
  9. Surely you are insured against have a damaged windscreen replaced, so - you cannot see out of it on occasions because of the (small) stonechip damage - ergo - its damaged - so the insurance will pay for it to be replaced. My 2p
  10. Mine hasnt worked for over a year now, and it really pained me when it first stopped working , but, hey, it only cost you 850 its not THAT hard to just put the key in the lock........ You wait till the ignition barrel seizes and you are unable to put the key in to pull the barrel out, on the day before you are driving to the south of France - now thats when you get grief from er/im indoors!
  11. Hi - I'm now on my second set of Vredesteins, great in all weathers and wear well. I got 30k on the first set and am now up to about 12k on the second set with no appreciable wear. That being said - I'm old, so my days of ear'oling around are long gone, but they do last.... - and occasionally I do corner a little faster than maybe I should! Never had a problem Dave
  12. Look here http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalLexusLS400str1.htm, it may not look the same as yours but the idea of removing the stereo will be about the same. All the bulbs are easily accessible once its out hth Dave
  13. I use a VisorCom (Dixons/The Link etc). Sits on top of the (open) ashtray magnetized to it when in use - in the armrest when not (out of sight etc). No friggen about installing it, battery life is huge (rechargeable), volume is good, voice tags work a treat. No problems at all - been using it about 18 months - about 45squid if memory serves Dave
  14. Mine seeps permanently from the seal round the sensor in the top of the reservoir. I've replaced the O ring, put tape (the white stuff used for radiator valves (PTFE - just remembered!!)) round the thread, nothing makes any difference, so I just top it up with about a mugful every month or so.
  15. I need to know the dimensions of the rear springs on my '93 LS. I've had the originals replaced and the car now sits 1 inch lower than it should (14 as opposed to 15 inches centre hub to underside of wheelarch) - or is that wrong info? It certainly looks and feels lower than it was, and there is less suspension travel. The company that did it want the dimensions so that they can question their supplier. I emailed lexusinfo@lexuscontactcentre.co.uk and got no reply - sent them a nudge and they just said ring 0906 661 0062. Tried it and at £1.50 a minute I am not adding to the already overflowing Lexus coffers! So can anyone help please? Cheers Dave
  16. Ah hah - you learn summat every day........................ :P
  17. Am I missing the point here.....? Surely you just hit the Auto button (or whatever its called on your machine) on the front?
  18. A while ago I had new rear springs and shocks fitted and it seems to be running a little low now. Could somebody post here the distance from the ground to the top of the rear wheelarch just so I can see if mine is running correctly. Thanks to anyone that can :D :D Dave
  19. I'm with NU and got a better quote from elsewhere. Rang them to cancel, told them I'd got it cheaper elsewhere - they immediately reduced my premium by well over 100 squid just to keep my business (presumably). It makes you wonder how much it actually costs
  20. Why manufacturers feel they have to change the design of something thats been working for years defeats me..... hey ho
  21. Surely the technology for disk/handbrake combo is so old now that it should just work, rocket science it aint! My '93 LS has these (as do loads of other cars) and they work a treat. I've just replaced my rear discs as they were getting thin, but the parking brake has always worked well and continues to do so. However hard I apply it, it always just comes off with a pull on the lever with one finger!! My 2p
  22. When I was 14, I hoped that one day I would have a girlfriend. When I was 16 I got a girlfriend, but there was no passion, so I decided I needed a passionate girl with a zest for life. :duh: In college I dated a passionate girl, but she was too emotional. Everything was an emergency; she was a drama queen, cried all the time and threatened suicide. So I decided I needed a girl with stability. :D When I was 25 I found a very stable girl but she was boring. She was totally predictable and never got excited about anything. Life became so dull that I decided that I needed a girl with some excitement. :winky: When I was 28 I found an exciting girl, but I couldn't keep up with her. She rushed from one thing to another, never settling on anything. She did mad impetuous things and made me miserable as often as happy. She was great fun initially and very energetic, but directionless. So I decided to find a girl with some real ambition. When I turned 31, I found a smart ambitious girl with her feet planted firmly on the ground and married her. She was so ambitious that she divorced me and took everything I owned. I am now older and wiser, and am now looking for a girl with big errrrrrrrrr you work it out..........
  23. Not so sure that a new one will make that much difference - cos she certainly aint gettin one!!!!!!!!! It may drop the prices of the current by a touch but not much I would think???
  24. Shes chopping in her 206GTI (02) and wants a Type R because oldest son reckons its the dogs danglies! Anyone got any comments as to whether its a good or bad swap? I know nowt about them! :duh: Cheers Dave
