Well, the title says it all really! Mine has been leaking for a while, I've replaced the O ring with the same size, with a thicker, and also with 2 smaller, nothing works for longer than a couple of runs . Soon as it gets hot, it just seeps out around the level sensor. I am assuming there must be a hairline crack that I cannot see. I only lose about a cupfull over a month or so, so its not life threatening, but its a pain and the leaking coolant smells and goes over all the clean (ish) engine bay! Before I go and take out a mortgage with Lexus to replace the tank , anyone experienced and solved this before or is it a one off? Cheers all :D Dave

HMPG will work but copper grease is better - its made for the job

Hi Paul and welcome to LOC My tacho needle has been 50% black for 3 years now, I just ignore it! It started off by flashing but soon just died. Aparently its to do with the fact the the needles are high voltage fluorescent tubes (my words - cant think of another way to describe them!). Lexus want LOADS to put them right, Chris Vince may be along later with a suggestion. Ensure CD's are in up the right way - labels underneath - other than that, try a cleaner CD - otherwise a breakers may help with another unit - I dont know of a direct replacement. Mine works most of the time, just occasionally will hiccup for a while, then return to full working order. HTH Dave

Agree completely with zero tolerance, thats how it is in some other countries (not sure which ones) - at least everyone knows where they are and cannot winge if they get 'done' for doing what they shoudnt. Its a great responsibility piloting a huge lump of metal with (mostly) only air between it and people, and we should take that responsibility seriously and not do anything that jeopardises anyones safety - including our own!

Hehehe - I didnt think it would raise this much of a discussion - but its all good. It shows that we all have majorly differing opinions, and are not too 'scared' to voice them! I was a smoker for 25 years (gave up 17 years ago) and had a few near misses due to various things that happened while smoking in a car!! I agree with the comment above that ANYTHING not directly to do with the control of the car that reduces your concentration should be banned - but how on earth could it be policed?

<Rant> On the way home from work Tuesday (or was it Weds?) (about 16:45 so loads of kids around) this week going past Penenden Heath (Kent), an LS400 dark green went the other way with the driver (not old or middleaged!) on the phone - handheld. Grrrr I thought, but we all do it from time to time (or DO we these days?). 5/10 minutes later going through Bredhurst, an IS200 in Black (or very dark) went past ALSO with the (young) driver using a handheld!! Now I'm old and had to train myself to use a handsfree, but these 2 and probably a lot of you have been brought up with mobiles so it should be second nature. How many of you actually own a decent handsfree (in a car that doesnt have one built in) and use it? There are so many drivers around that use mobiles handheld, obviously the law doesnt have the time/energy to persue most of them Scarface - how many (if any!!) get nicked - any idea?? </Rant>

Well, I got the rear springs and shocks replaced at Trac-Art (Jap Specialists) in Ashford Kent, and it has made such a difference to the ride quality - I just didnt realise how much it had deteriorated! When they did it they commented that the discs should be replaced - so how easy was that? No problem, probably the easiest discs I've ever replaced!! Now just get the front springs and shocks (and prob discs) done after my hols and all will be well.

True (I think - not used it for a while)...but then I use other tools that do but still in the dos type arena. I was actually using FDisk as an example of the genre rather than THE tool to use!! I'm sure that Jamboo will get it sorted now, and if he doesnt there are enough people here that can advise

The old dos way would have been to boot to a full floppy, run FDisk, delete the partitions then repartition and format. With no malice intended, the fact that you are asking implies that you are not of a techy nature, so..... Go here http://visopsys.org/partlogic/ and read about and download the tool. Demon ... I've been with them currently for 2 years and dl a LOT (ahem). Never had a problem AND you get the domain so unlimited email addresses.

Sitting at my desk, office aircon set to 22, I feel nice and cool! Mate just went out "to walk into town" usually a nice 15 min stroll by the river, he was back in 5 saying that it was just TOO hot to walk anywhere. My wife on the other hand is a Resource Manager at a local school (she manages the library and computer suite) and the school is all glass with (obviously) no aircon so gets rather warm and (dare I say) sweaty - yeugh

Another side I think that the biggest problem with caravans is the perception of them. There are not that many of them (honestly!!!) and have a think back, do you get held up more by artics (and the remnants of their accidents) or caravans? The caravan fraternity is an easy one to take a pop at because (in the main), they are not (cannot be) roaring around in the latest whatever with big wheels and stripes, they are most likely to be middle aged and older with their speeding years behind them. If they do drive other faster things when they are not towing then they are not caravanners at that point!!!! Admittedly there are some (like any other group of people that you could mention) that give them a bad name by holding up traffic, you just dont notice the ones that dont! Programs like Top Gear get great mileage from doing all sorts of things with caravans because they get no feedback, try doing the same to lorry drivers that cause a lot more mayhem on the roads in percentage terms, and he would soon get a wakeup call and probably a visit from a few drivers!! Yep, have done for 12 years. Around 20 weekends every year, then most years 2 weeks in Cornwall or France, Arcachon (near Bordeaux) this year, this thursday week we're off. I have to agree with Dave1 above, use a good car, drive sensibly, you dont hold anyone up. Honda 827 - what a missile, I had one for 2 years!!! Trouble usually comes from the people pulling out in front of you - "Gotta pull out in front of this caravan - he might hold me up" they dont realise - LS400 around 1.75 tons, caravan around 1500 kilos, unit length around 40 feet - you wouldnt pull out in front of an artic that size now would you............

I must say when I read your post I thought "Back seat?? What on earth for???" then I had a look this morning and yep- thats where the tops are, under the parcel shelf. So I did the same (took it out) and agree - so well engineered! Oh well thats half an hour I wont have to pay for!!! Getting them done Monday PM. Yep agreed Maneesh, but at the moment the shox are my main concern. I tow a 1500kg caravan on a regular basis and last weekend noticed the suspension bottoming and since then it bottoms at any opportunity! Obviously the standard shocks last and last but die very quickly at the end! As I am towing to the south of France in 2 weeks, I need to get them sorted pronto, the bushes can wait till I'm back!!

Thanks for that Noel, I had a look around the KB last night and saw that, I'm sure its not complicated on an LS, I just wanted anyones knowledge that had done it before (if they had!!!). On the face of it, it looks simple (they are the other way up on an LS, the springs are at the top) Cheers :D Dave
