    no just one wheel on jack, though same noise when i drop it and raise the drivers side and rock that wheel too

    ok I had a good poke around and actually bothered to use a pry baron the drop link. No play at all. Not even a millimetre. There' also no sound when I rock the car from side to side, which has always produced the knocking on other cars when the ARB drop links were bad. I get the above noise (in the video link) when I rock the wheel from side to side, as if checking for a bad bearing. same when I rock the drivers side wheel. Is this normal? Surely going over speed bumps and potholes don't produce rocking from the steering column? Theres no play or vibration from the steering wheel. But I'm now pretty sure it isn't the drop link at fault. Any ideas? 20180517_131754.mp4

    Hi does anyone have a quick fix for a rounded out allen key hole? I literally gave it a couple of turns with the key, and now its no good, i need to change the drop link. I thought of a hacksaw but theres not a lot of room behind the hub, perhaps a nut splitter or a small circular saw? The nut turns with the bolt unless i can isolate the two and tap the bolt out. Otherwise theres no place on the link that i can grip to hold it still Cheers guys/girls

    Super! Is this a DIY job? I have reasonable knowledge and tools. Sounds like the head has to come off?

    Fab! But how do i go about doing that? PS does the mileage, or type of oil used, have anything to do with this rattle?

    OK, assuming this is the case, whats the cure? Is it an issue? How do i go about explaining this to a potential buyer?

    Have a listen to the attached file, it usually does this when cold, or when left for a few days, i have just changed the oil and filter (and flushed) with 0W20. Still the same Only occurs when the engine idles high briefly, on start up, though i have started it in icy cold mornings in 3 inches of snow, it didn't rev high, hence no rattle, which i found odd. I can possibly get a better vid of the rattle sound if required, please help. rattle.mp4

    My radio reception is very hit and miss at present, and it occured after a long 600 mile round trip. Naturally i lost all the local radio stations within 50 miles, but when i returned, they are all unclear, static/white noise etc. Some are clearer than others, but nothing to do with being a local station or not. I am aware that the aerial is built into the rear screen, the screen is fine, the 'tracks/lines' are all intact. The reception doesn't get any better or worse if i have my hand on the rear screen, like with the old analogue aerials, trying to 'earth' it better, nor does it change if i have the heated rear screen on! Please help! I don't want to ruin my rear headlining by digging into the aerial amplifier, i disconnected the battery for 5 mins, but still the same. All radio presets are now fuzzy/distorted. Any ideas guys/girls?

    Thanks for the advice, i don't really want to change the oil, as it looks good as new, and i have added a £20 bottle of slick 50 to it. Does the oil pump run off the timing chain? Is there a possibility that there is a slight delay in the oil pump doing its thing, on cold start? IE rattley until the oil gets pumped round? Theres no lights on the dash when it happens, but it is a combination of a bag of spanners, coupled with rough running, i tried to film it on my phone, but it smoothed out before i could!

    The rear section of my exhaust has a blow,at the 'split' where the two rear pipes separate, i can pretty much see it, but neither the Holts gun gum, nor the Granville paste, seem to be able to stick for long enough. A few hours drive, and the dried paste has managed to push out and away. I don't really want to spend £600 on a new rear section, surely there must be a simpler way to repair it? Even if it involves a 'bodge'? cheers all

    Hi all, my 2007 Gs450h tends to produce a clattery sound from the engine, when it hasn't been used for a while. I find it more prominent when i have not driven it for at least 3 days, but i have heard it briefly as little as 24 hrs after its last drive. It sounds like its running dry, like there is no oil present on start up and for the first few seconds of running. It has full main dealer history, high miles, oil is at correct level ,and is a still the same colour it was when it came out of the bottle. I have added slick 50 to the oil, but the anomaly is still there. Like i say, most of the time i don't hear it, as i use the car a lot, and when it happens its brief, but i want to know what it is. If i drive it to my mechanic, the issue won't manifest itself, as i will have just used the car. It sounds like an engine running with no oil, like a bag of spanners, briefly, before going back to its normal, quiet self. Does the oil pump run off the timing chain, and is it possible that theres a brief delay in it pumping the oil, where, after being used reasonably prior, there is still sufficient oil coating the valves/pistons etc, that the noise isn't heard, if that makes sense?     Cheers shahpor, i will take the front wheels off in a couple of weeks when i am off work, and try johns method, though i very much doubt it has anything to do with anti rattle shims

    Cheers. I'll try and see what the issue is with the vid playing. I have had cars with missing anti rattle shims, they made tinny noises when driving along, particularly over speed bumps. I have to say this doesn't sound like that. But I will jack the car up and have a look round

    Hiya yall, yeh from a breaker on ebay, yeah the two sensors came with it. Fitted by ATS euromaster, i wouldn't dare go anywhere near halfords, and i have heard some bad stories about kwikfit (tyre salesmen, nothing more). All sorted, but i do have a clunking coming from my front brakes, can you guys have a look at my latest post regarding this? I added a video with the noise! cheers

    I had a used centre section fitted today. Quiet as a whisper now. Bloody hard to track down that part, worked out £280 fitted. Or i could have gone for stainless steel at £600 plus i would have had to travel. As it is all now silent, i assume i will not be seeing that code again!

    Hello. My 2007 gs450h makes a metallic knocking sound from the front brakes. It is more prominent when I move forward slowly, then brake, then reverse slowly, then brake, etc, as opposed to during general driving at speed. It doesn't sound like worn bushes. It has a higher metallic pitch. Front pads and discs are new. But the sound was there before I changed them anyway. Please see attached video and have a listen. It's driving me nuts.     Thanks for the info. Is the attached pic the 'centre section' on a gs450h? Sorry for sounding ignorant, but the section looks different from underneath the car, viewed from a tight angle, as opposed to this. The code i get states its 'bank 1' catalytic converter issue, which CAT would that be here? Cheers

    Hi all, my gs450h has a blowing centre section exhaust, i assume its the original. The car has done 327k miles, yes you read that right. Occasionally the EML comes on, with error code p0420, Search Results P0420 LEXUS Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1 I can clear it, but it does come back after a few days, the problem is no doubt related to the blowing. Can these be got as used parts? Im struggling to find one. Do these have just the one CAT, or two? cheers all!

    Hi all, please don't be calling me cheap or tight here, but my right hand wing mirror glass is smashed, i tried the self adhesive 'universal' stuff that you cut to size, but it totally distorts the view. I don't want to pay £120 for the glass, or £200 for an entire second hand mirror in the wrong colour (electric, heated, folding), so my question is: What similar mirror glass can i pick up for £10-£20, even if its slightly too small and not heated? Anything will do, thr rx400h mirror looks close, but even a mondeo or astra miror glass is fine, provided its not too big, and will fit inside the recess? cheers guys/girls!
