I have only done just over 1,000 miles from brand new @ c.28mpg, my IS averaged 27mpg so pretty similar so far, don't even ask on the RX7

After 7 years of ownership I have sold my IS200 and now have an Audi A3 as my daily. Whilst i rarely posted on this forum I found the information here very helpful. My Lexus ownership experience was overall very good but became a little bored with the IS and fancied a change. The IS was a very good car, my only negatives were noisy front shocks and poor fuel consumption. Sold it for £4k on Autotrader, I hope the new owner is happy, it was well looked after.

I noticed this web-site has appeared http://www.lexusct200h.co.uk no specific information on performance, fuel consumptions yet though. This is a car I could be interested in but not sure about the look of it, will have to wait and see it for real.

Maybe I got it the wrong way round I'll check. They are definitely originals and so are the discs. I reckon I do c.3,000 miles a year slowish commute and c.8,000 miles mostly motorway. Thanks Kevin

I have a '53 reg IS200 Sport from new. I can't believe I am on the original brake pads after 61,000 miles, I do drive swiftly :winky: but I am very progressive on my braking. Do the pads normally last this long? Garage tells me 9mm left on fronts and 4 mm on rears - what is that likely to equate to in miles? Thanks Kevin

Sorted at lunchtime - A third key cutting place referred me to a locksmith who was able to cut the key and it works fine. Kevin

The plastic case on one of my keys cracked so I got a replacement casing and blank key off ebay. I've transferred the electronics no problem but have asked a couple of key cutting places and they can't cut the Lexus key for me. Where can I get one cut or do I need to go to Lexus? I have been phoning around for a price on my 30k service on my '53 reg IS200 Sport Croydon - bought the car from here and have previously serviced here. £277 including coolant change, will also give me 10% gold discount. Said £277 is official Lexus price and others should quote the same Guildford - £193 no coolant change, no discount for gold but will price match Twickenham - "service dept. is with a customer" I'll e-mail them. So do I need a coolant change at 30k? What is a fair price for service? Anywhere else near SW London/Surrey I should try? Kevin

All these mods give little extra power. The only route to go for significant extra power on the standard engine is forced induction whether turbo or s/c. Personally, I would only consider any of these mods if they are preliminaries to forced induction, I guess that's backbox & de-cat? Kevin

Batteries are easily replaced, they are CR1616 and are available from www.7dayshop.com for a pack of 2 for only £1.45. Postage is a whopping £3.95 but that is per order (cheap place for batteries, photo accessories, memory cards etc.) Kevin

My 18 month old IS had it's 20,000 miles service at Lexus Croydon yesterday. When I booked it in I asked them to look at the bubbling on the spokes of the alloys, they have fitted new wheels all round for me. Not happy that I had the problem but it has been dealt with very efficiently with no fuss. Kevin

I went to this last year which was the first year for Rotorstock. The Drag racing was great with a large grandstand for spectators, better than the Pod IMO. Some of the other clubs/forums seem to think this is a rotary only event, it is not. It is a Japanese car event organised by Mazdarotaryclub, last year the drag included many jap cars and was won by the awesome Fensport Corolla. I don't recall seeing any Lexus run, maybe this year? I use BP normal unleaded. Yes the middle of the graph was roughly the summer, I hit 7,500 miles in late July. Kevin

Fuel consumption for first 15,000 miles, I do a mix of commuting (5 miles in slow traffic) to much longer journeys around the UK on motorways and A roads. Average fuel consumption is 27.52 mpg, best is 32.09 and worst 21.49. I think I drive briskly, generally use BP unleaded. Total cost of fuel £2,041.14. Use RMRFuel on palm m100 to keep track. Kevin

Parked my IS in Chessington last night and locked fine with remote, when I came to unlock it an hour later remote wouldn't work. My wife turned up with the second remote but same problem. Unlocked with key but of course this set the alarm off, whilst I could start the car (should I have been able to do that?) not happy to drive it with alarm going so called the Lexus breakdown service. 50 mins later RAC man turned up and he had a handheld device that detected interference in the area, same device also confirmed both remotes transmitting. We moved the car 200yds down the road and problem gone. RAC man said he was sure it was interference from a new mobile phone mast, regularly has the same problem at Sandown racecourse. Said he had never been called out for a Lexus before :) Local sunbed shop kindly allowed me to wait for RAC in their reception, RAC man now thinks I am a sunbed tart Kevin

When I was looking for a new 'sensible' car I felt obliged, already being a rotary owner, to test drive the rx-8, loved it but decided it was not practical enough, too thirsty, hence my IS200. I read of the low torque of the RX-8 but my driving experience was that performance is in a different league to an IS200 and the Hipower model was very quick. The RX-8 rear seats are usable for adults, I'm 6 foot and sit comfortably, it did feel low and slightly claustrophobic but there was sufficient head and legroom. I also owned an MX-6 for 4 years, 60,000 miles. The only problem I had was a fault with the boot lock. Front wheel drive but nevertheless a good handling car that I really enjoyed driving. I agree MX-6 is an underrated car. You want sensible: IS200 Fun & sporty: RX-8 Take your pick Kevin
