I am getting a rattle noise when I put car in reverse only. Sounds like coins rattling if that makes sense. Any ideas ?

Would it be wise to put new rad and coolant in my 160k mile LS just in case ? I can afford to run it but not replace it !!

Sorry to hear about your loss but there is no way you feel as good driving the mondeo than you did driving the lex ? I am scared something is going to break on mine but I'm prepared to take the chance. If all fails I'll get a fiesta

Yes the rear pipes were corroded. I am sure only one or the pipes was replaced. The pipe itself was reasonably priced but it took the mechanic all day to sort out. I also needed to get new compressor so I essentially have a new air con system and I was like you in that I did not want to cap the pipes. If you need new compressor I can send you details of shop in USA that supplied denso original compressor. Get pipe from Lexus and get an independent mechanic to do the fitting. The fuel tank had to be dropped but my mechanic was not too bothered taking this on. Try the gas first but you might find that the air con will work for a few days and then warm air returns Mounts did not need to be replaced but by putting new ones in the car is much quieter during idle and very smooth and I would highly recommend changing them. When putting car in and out of gear it got a little jumpy but tranny mount fixed that. My car has just over 152k miles and I have done 80k of them myself. On reflection I also replaced the struts on the bonnet and boot as they stopped working properly. Best tyres are Michelin primacy 3 gliptone leather cleaner will get seats back nice and clean and smelling great. Also got io play hands free kit but a word of warning that none of the reccomended iso cables work for these cars and the installer spent hours sorting out the wires. Jo is Lexus Birmingham is fantastic for getting any parts you need but compressor was a couple of grand so I got in the states for a few hundred

I love my Lexus ls430 and I habe done the following so I convince myself the car is as good as new Replaced front and rear bushings air con pipes replaced as they were corroded replaced air suspension pump mounts to stop small vibrating noise replaced sub speaker surround transmission and engine mounts replaced and this makes a huge difference atf oil changes new filter and strainer got new fitting kit to hold carpet mats in place have replaced parking sensors when needed installed vaistech music system thanks to this forum all these niggles have been sorted and car drives beautifully always buy genuine parts such as wiper rubber, brake pads, filter etc and they are not much more than blueprint in a lot of cases

My reverse camera is flickering which I think is a lose connection. How can I check these connections myself so I don't have to bring to a dealer as I am useless at diy maintenance

Where did you buy your genuine rear bearing as I can't seem to find them less than 300

How much should I expect to pay for engine and transmission mount as I am treating myself for Christmas !! Lexus Ls430

Is there only 1 type of smart key? The other key I have has three buttons and the only difference is that the boot logo in white is not on it. Is this the valet key ? It also has a blade in it too.

My sub vibrates with heavy bass audio so I was wondering if this means it's blown or needs to be repaired with a surround kit. It's a fairly tricky job which I would not be able to do myself as I am useless and have no patience and I don't won't the speaker repair guy to take it all out and tell me it's blown if I don't have the new speaker to hand. I did buy repair kit online. Any others have similar issue?

I am just about to change my smart key battery and I was just wondering if my spare key is a smart key too? It looks identical except it does not have a little white logo on the boot button. It open and closes the door but not the boot. I was looking on eBay to buy a second smart key and they are advertising what looks like my spare key as a smart key which is why I am looking for this confirmation.

Air con update for me. Found some polish guy who specialises in air con. He said there was too much oil in the system. He then took out the compressor and cleaned it out and resealed it and showed me the worn seal which was leaking. He then did sole odour removal which is not the aerosol u get in halfords ! It cost me 160 and it is whisper quiet and ice cold. Thanks to all who suggested getting a second opinion before buying new compressor.

I looked on in horror as my wife got out the Lexus LS430 to give me my sunglasses but the car was in reverse and the handbrake still on. Thankfully she jumped back in to the car and the car was saved as was my wife!! Since this the check VSC light and TRC light are on. Can I reset this myself ?

I did not replace the compressor as the air con works perfectly around 70% of the time which is better than nothing but still a pain when it won't work when I need it. Is there anything else I could try to get it working every time. Lexus Dealer in Ireland is the same service as Halfrauds.

I have just turned my air con on and off a few times and now it's cold again. Does this rule out the compressor being the problem?

I have a Mark Levinson with Kardon Harmon amp but have tried Sot 913 which has the wrong blocks and also the Sot 927 which fits but is not working correctly. Has anybody tried any other cables that might work for me?

If you stick a 10 in front of the 49 they might throw in a new compressor!!!

Is this a regular problem with these cars? If I buy a brand new one it should last several years?

I don't see any button flashing on my LS430. I just don't want it spend all that money if not required.

Finally got somebody to regas my air con. It was a bit colder for 2 days and then back to warm air only. Air con man says the compressor needs to be replaced which is going to cost 1200 to get replaced with Denso OEM.
