Hi, this is a common problem with the is200. Its usually the front brake caliper slide pins that have rusted & seized. After cleaning use silicon grease to lubricate. They should slide freely. Hope that helps.

My 2004 is200 se auto - 68000 miles just passed mot today. Still drives like new.

Hi, if you fancy gold try plastikote antique gold (B34). My is200 is silver and I have painted mine a deep cherry red-humbrol enamel (20) gloss-looks good, that's just my opinion.

90% whistle free! Thanks for your reply, I have removed the rear discs ground, cleaned & greased etc but at that point-still whistling. After my visit to lex-tek autos yesterday, Dave found its the o s f wheel bearing seal was dry so that was causing the whistle. He squirted some duck oil on to the seal after removing the disc. So booked in for a new wheel bearing next week & hopefully that's the end of that.

Still FFFFlippin whistling after fitting new caliper dust boots and rubber bushes to the lower slide pins. Got car booked in at an lexus Indy on Tue.

Thanks for the reply-can't see anything loose in the wheel arch. Stripped the caliper again found the guide pins slide ok but there is quite a bit of up & down movement. Perhaps allowing the caliper to drop,pushing the pad on to the disc and that's causing the whistle. Ordered New slide pin dust boots-hope that works but I'm not holdin me breath.

Hi all, my is200 se auto 66000miles has developed a whistle like an old kettle. It starts at 20mph after about 5 mins of driving when things have started to warm up. The noise is a constant pitch-not engine related. Sounds like it's comming from the front offside wheel-brakes ok-cleaned, greased etc. The wheel spins freely I can't detect any play in the bearing. Is the noise the first Signs of ware. Any help appreciated.

Hi, just been out measuring the rear number plate on my is200 saloon, will be the same for your sportcross. The sizes are in old money 21 x 6 inches or 533mm x 153mm, hope that helps.

Hi. Had the same problem on my is200 - but with the drivers door light. When I tested it was showing 8 volts. I sorted mine by cleaning the internal light door switch. Hope that helps.

Been looking at the side windows on my is200. When closed the bottom part of the window touches the seal but after opening only a few mm the glass moves away from the rubber. This prevents any dirt or grit trapped in the seal from scouring the window. That's my theory, hope that helps.

Thanks for your replies. Can't find any water leaks anywhere, i don't leave my phone in the car very often but will keep an eye on things. I have had a good spray round the boot lock area with wd40 so hope that might help.

Been reading your post with interest as my is200 (2004) rattles aswell. Sounds like marbles in a tin can, just at low speed. Have you sorted yours?

The first time was after heavy rain and was very windy at the time. Other times any weather.

Hi all, The alarm on my 2004 IS200 se auto goes off at random, might be a few days inbetween. I have cleaned the door switches but I understand there are switches on the bonnet and boot. Any ideas where these are located? Any help appreciated, thanks.

Happy new year all. The rhs rear number plate light isn't working on my IS200 SE auto-blown bulb I thought. Wrong, the bulb is ok.Got my tester out and found no power to the bulb holder, yet the lhs bulb works ok. Any ideas..... Thanks.

Hi all, fitted new front brake discs & pads to my 2004 is200 se auto 61000 miles. Got the rears to do next + just sent for a set of 4 braided hoses. Then a brake fluid change & bleed through. Car up on 4 axle stands so been cleaning and painting the rusty bits-plenty of em. Recently fitted a new air filter + oil & filter change also changed the power steering fluid. Then m.o.t. time!

Hi all, can any stock amp be fitted to my 2004 is200 se, are they matched to the headunit? Is there any difference sound from the earlier or later amps? Thanks in advance.

If all fails try drilling the heads off the screws.

Hi, I had the same problem with our 2000 is200. What I found was that over time black gunge accumulates in the washer bottle so this then travels up the washer pipe and collects behind the washer jets in the jet housings. So what you have to do is carefully remove the washer jets from the housings. Do this by using something small like a drill or I used an allen key that I ground down small enough to fit in to bore of the jet. Then move the allen key to the side of the housing and prise out in turn all 4 of the jets, clean them and be carefull not to lose them. Lift the wipers off the windscreen-press the washer button for a good while and this should blast this gunge out. When clear replace the jets and adjust the aim on to the windscreen. Might seem a bit long winded but hope this helps.
