  1. Scenario Whenever ambient temperature drops below say 7 degrees celcius, my engine management light starts flashing along with trc light, the light will then tend to go out some days later. This issue only occurs at start up. When this happens, usually a headlight fuses at the same time. The performance is crap also when the temp is low outside until the car warms up. Where should I start looking to solve this problem? Thanks

  3. Hi, looking for a dremmel tool and needed some advice. First of, is the battery powered device as powerful as the non battery powered? Also does anyone own a dremmel model that will power via bettery and mains, rather than require the battery to be charged to be used?

    In my opinion Goodyear really are good on this model. the feedback and comfort/traction are very good.

  6. My gs300 2002 has an issue with the traction control unit. I suspect it's the traction control module, however I need it professionally diagnosed so is there any specialist preferrably near the Edinburgh/Glasgow area that I can go and get this issue diagnosed properly. Also is the traction control module difficult to remove and replace? thank you
  7. So have been doing research on gs450h and just wanted to ask a few questions: Are there any extras I should be looking out for although the gs450h is already well equipped? Should I worry about the hybrid battery on a 2008 vehicle? If so is there anywhere here up in Scotland that repair these issues? Is there anything else I should be aware of when looking to purchase one?
  8. I actually have the m54engine. The is good and yes it does have its issues, ones that bmw are to apparently to blame for (piston rings). However if lexus could only better bmw in drive quality, they defo would be the best out there.
  9. Thank so very much for taking the time to give me a detailed response all users. In terms of handling, I am well aware this car isn't probably designed to go round corners fast which I can live with as the Lexus gs300 I have isn't really a car you want to drive fast. It's really a car you want to enjoy driving sensibly. So from that respect its all good. The speed of the car isn't really something that appeals to me. Put it this way, I have an is200 which I find great for speed and an e46 325i which I think does the job very in terms of speed. My only issue really is the ease of maintenance. I love doing my own work and must say I am tad pee'd off at Lexus part prices. They seem to be more expensive than BMW. On the tyre talk. I would stick with goodyear eagle tyres. My IS200 responds very very well to them.
  10. We actually have an 02 gs300 in the family which is a fantastic car (not so promising in terms of handling) that is in my opinion smooth and nice to be in. I have also drove a 06 gs300 which again was nice to be in but not so good in the handling department. I haven't though driven a gs450h.
  11. Is it advisable to do so? If so, then which bushes should be greased. I ask because I would like to keep the car nice and smooth and perhaps maybe see if the suspension can become even more quiter and smoother
  12. My front lower ball joint is very worn. Can users please share their experience in changing this part out? Also what brand should I look to replace with? And where should I buy from. Thanks
  13. True. OK then lexus it is. Hopefully Barry gadgy will give me a 10 percent discount. But I like dojng my own work and will buy any tool required, in that case is it advisable to do it or not?

  15. I own a 2002 is200 which I'm sure has a standard suspension setup on it. Although I'm very happy with the way the car handles and rides, I was wondering if there is a possible solution to retaining the ride comfort with a lowered look. I'm not after a silly lowered look, just lower than what it is. I would also like to add spacers to the wheels, to give the car that bit of a more aggressive stance. Is there any advice that can be offered? Thanks.
  16. Sorry for late reply. The problem is not related to aircon use. I did though notice two air leaks - one at the induction and another at the air filter housing. I'm going to look in to that and see what the script is. Although I don't those leaks would cause much of an issue
  17. Hoping someone can help. While stationary, I can hear - not necessarily feel - RPM's fluctuating. I can see the rev needle moving up and down in tune with the engine sound. The fluctuation is very smooth and takes around 4 seconds between fluctuations hence why it isn't noticeable. Any ideas what could be wrong and where to look?
  18. Steering pump hose leaking. Can anyone tell if this is a tricky diy and if there is a walk through on it? Also is there any specialists for Lexus in Scotland?
  19. Just a quick opinion on what you would do/have done. The car as it is has factory standard tyres - 215/45/17 front and 225/45/17 rear (non-standard). Now I'm well up for sticking to factory sizes on the car, but what sort of experience will I have if reverting to factory standard tyres on rears? Im pretty sure the rims are only equipped for 215's on the rears, but saying that I haven't had any issues with handling. I do also know that lexus specify factory sizes for a good reason.

  21. My cam cover seems to sweating oil although I'm not experiencing oil loss. What do members think I should do, renew the sealant/gasket or leave alone. I am though having a rough running problem, which brings me on to the second question, is servicing the breather system on the is 200 difficult?
  22. My fan is not switching on and causing the car to overheat. After doing some digging around, one of the temp sensors is out of action, just do not know which one. When I switch on the AC, my fan comes on so that pretty much points to a sensor I suppose.
  23. Just a quick question - my caliper piston boot is allowing fluid to seep out so I'm in a dilemma as to either refurb the calipers or get them refurbed. I would like to do it myself but do not know how difficult this job is. Can people whom have done this job please shed light on the complexities etc. Thanks

Quick question - looking to rebuild brakes and use castrol red rubber grease on caliper sliding pins/piston rubber boot and copper grease on contact points between brake pad between contact points. Is this correct? Also should I be putting any grease on the back of brake pads? Cant see why that would be done.
