  1. if the security screws are like these then i wouldn't say they are that secure https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-security/richbrook-anti-theft-number-plate-bolts-794669.html using a set of circlip pliers you could possibly loosen and remove the screws or using 2 small diameter drill bits 1 in each hole then a bar in between them to loosen the screws
  2. despite the name a headrest isnt for resting your head its where your head may rest in the event of an accident to help reduce whiplash, i think you need to adjust your seat correctly and not to adjust it so your head is touching
  3. i got it wrong the tracking did need adjusting but only slightly 0.1 of a degree in total i have attached a copy of the report
  4. when my car had to spend some time in my local bodyshop last year one of the first thing they done was an alignment check , they didnt have any issues using the hawkeye on my car and my alignment was spot on with no adjustments necessary.
  5. i know a lot of people aren't fans of kwikfit but i havent had any issues with them using the hunter hawkeye system and our cars always track true, kwikfit have a geocare plan you can buy its circa £120 to have the tracking checked and adjusted up to 8 times in a 2 yr period without charge which i feel is excellent value for money, as always it depends on how competant the person completing the task is, just make sure the car isnt left in N or your battery may go flat.
  6. i'd check to see if there is a relay for the horn as it may of started to become faulty or the clock spring cable thats behind the steering wheel, the CC plugs into the clock spring unit the cable maybe part of the switches. here is a link for your to try :- https://www.synetiq.co.uk/
  7. dont forget the radiator after 13 / 14 years of use there is a good chance it may of been damaged by stones this could be where you are getting air into the system
  8. if you have the pram take it to a dealership and try it in a boot its the only way to be certain it will fit, in my opinion i dont think you will have an issue, i had the same concern when i bought a Ct back in 2013 and suprisingly it fitted, as i have already said for peace of mind go and try it
  9. the ventillated seat fans are controlled by the fan speed sliders the faster the cabin fan the faster the seat fan. here is a video of the removal of the centre console fast forward to 4.35 and you will see the back of the heated & ventillated switch panel showing the plug and wiring colours. ( the guy forgot to remove the cross head screw by the gear selector)
  10. i have a GS300h and the warranty for mine is £1095, i cant believe the GS repair costs are that much more.
  11. i have heard a while ago if you wet the scratch and it disappears then its in the clear coat and should buff out if it doesnt disappear then its too deep and needs extra paint work.
  12. the biscuit's not included in the £400 as it's a chargable extra with regards to how can they do all that work for £400 it just goes to show how much we are getting ripped off if they can still make a good profit at £400.
  13. here is a link for a breakers yard its showing the front of the car and the reg plate holder is intact https://www.synetiq.co.uk/parts-breaking/details/2013-lexus-ct-1798-petrol-electric-front-panel-assembly-11344584/-/236234/
  14. make sure you dont have any stone rattling around on the plastic under panels as they can get trapped on there
  15. a good choice of tyre i've had them before and they where great especially for less than £85 / tyre
  16. in the past when i've had the message put in park when its already in park was down to the battery being flat, have you checked the voltage in the battery just to confirm its ok. if it is ok disconnect the battery and leave it for 30 minutes then reconnect the battery and try again.
  17. like you i went from a CT to an IS yes the Mpg is less in the IS i used to return mid to late 40's mpg quiet a bit less than the CT but its a bigger, heavier and has a bigger engine so all in all the return is good, what other petrol car with a 2.5ltr engine will return that sort of mpg not many i guess. you will notice a remarkable difference in quietness in the IS enjoy your car
  18. modify a fly zapping bat and place it in front of the cables if they get a zap then tough.
  19. your welcome............ glad you've done it and saved yourself loads of money.
  20. do you have any photos as i dont have a CT anymore so i cant give any suggestions to you at the moment
  21. i have just done a search at eurocar parts in hampshire and they seem to have them in stock now i dont think its an AGm though but it will keep you going until your new lexus battery arrives the euro carparts lion 063 battery is £64.99 if it keeps you on the move then i think its worth the cost ,and once the AGM battery is fitted you'll have a spare battery in case you ever need to jump start your car or someone else's car remember you DONT jump start another car from a hybrid car it can cause damage to the hybrid car.
  22. on our last auris hybrid a 63 plate i used a generic CC stalk and in the 30 months of it being installed before we sold the car it never faulted once. 1 ) when i fitted our CC i turned the steering wheel through 180 degrees i done this so i didnt have to disconnect the airbag wiring and when it was released i could lower the airbag down out of the way with the wiring attached. ( you could disconnect the negative off the battery wait 20 minutes then remove the airbag and disconnect the airbag wiring ) 2) unclip the CC panel in the steering wheel. 3 ) from the inside of the steering wheel insert the CC stalk and secure with the 2 screws M5 i think. 4 ) route the cable and fit the plug into the socket 5 ) fit the CC cover panel if you have one 6 ) if removed .... refit airbag cables and press the airbag firmly back into the steering wheel 7 ) re-connect the battery if disconnected 8 ) press the CC button on the end of the stalk and see the CC light illuminate on the dash now go for your test drive.
  23. here is a link for the switch you need :- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cruise-Control-Stalk-Switch-Lever-Part-Number-8463234011/262551655239?fits=Car+Make%3ALexus|Model%3ACT&epid=1379710929&hash=item3d214c5347:g:dbAAAOSwqgFeDj7I this is link showing the type of cover you need but be aware its not for the ct this is just an example:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steering-Wheel-Cruise-Control-Switch-Cover-Fit-For-Toyota-Corolla-RAV4-Lexus/174331136102?epid=580089926&hash=item2896f20866:g:GwwAAOSw4A5Yrqfw there is also a cover thats needed but not for the install of the CC it is just a finishing cover, you can modify the cover installed in your car to fit around the switch by drilling a large hole and glueing a piece of rubber to the back of the cover to stop dirt getting inside the steering wheel. i live in ch49 on the wirral, i know its a good drive for you but the offer for fitting is there for you if no one nearer can help you.
