  1. well guys after ripping off (not litteraly) the engine covers the airbox and the washer neck I took the crappy LED's out riffited the yellow looking halogens ripped two nails off scratched me hands and now i need a pedicure again, why are these lights so rubbish? Our lads 1996 XJ40's twin halogen H4 55w lights are really intense compared to mine and the bulbs are just £2.49 bulbs from a motor factor .......why ...? i just want some better headlights both dip and full beam ............just broke another nail ! thanks guys for the replies
  2. just fitted LED headlight bulbs to the car as the halogen bulbs are chronic, so after fitting the bulbs waited for night time to try them out i was horrified to find that they are dangerously dim, nice bright blueish white light but no light beam had to drive back home on my fog lights, any ideas the bulbs are supposed to be 5000k lumens cost me nearly £70 any ideas, they are fitted correctly with ballast resistors they look like they need turning up as though they are turned down like your dimmer control on the dash panel lights..........any ideas guys, if not i will remove them and fit something else.........seems like a proper waste of money
  3. SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY TO THIS THREAD BUT CAPS sorry Hankook namely Chris Baxter the customer services manager was brilliant with me, they sent me 2 brand new tyres free of charge as well as advice from Hankook to run the tyres at 38 psi rear 36 psi front, and what a difference the ride isnt as jittery of poor roads still handles well fuel consumption no change and tyres are great. I would recommend Hankook tyres on the Lexus they really are grippy quiet and great after sales service. Thanks for all the advice.
  4. Used a £20 kit on my car to see if it would improve these terribly poor headlights made no difference and next time I will use t-cut and seal it with polymer car polish, as you need a power tool and no matter how careful how much masking tape you still mark the bloody paint, by the was I am considering putting l.e.d main and dip bulls in because the brightness of the lights around dark country roads is scarey, my owld mans 22 year old XJ40 has much much brighter lights they are H4 halogens does any one have any experience with xneon/led bulbs I believe my bulbs are H11 dips and HB3 mains anyone confirm that ? Car is a 2006 (06) IS250 SE navigator very greatful for any input guys X
  5. Hey lads thank you I might let him sleep in the bed tonight instead of the settee haha!, you have put my mind at rest as Dave always set the tyre pressure at the higher end of the scale load and speed, and the exact mileage from the rears is 11065 miles to date and getting from eBay they could have been a substandard or old batch thanks again fellas you are all diamonds
  6. THANKS KEITH that is the thing the tyres are worn totally even right across both tyres, Dave thought the quoted tyre pressure ar around 46psi was too high, but the tyres have not worn as though over inflated, unbeknown to me he ordered the new tyres and they have been despatched they were £175 delivered and then there is £20 fitting, he has wrote again to Hankook but i told him when i berated him, he was flogging a dead horse there.....let you know what happens.
  7. Hello guys, I own a SE Navigator & had it for 30 months the best car I have ever owned, but I am afraid the flappy paddles and esc thingy are wasted on me I rarely go over 70mph and drive quite smoothly, the car has had 3 oil changes my husband does all that he is a mechanical engineer, he also changed 2 pre cat O2 sensors and the plenum chamber as the original had a broken inlet pipe Dave changes oil every 6000 miles he is not an advocate of long life oil, okay my problem is that when my car was recalled it went to Lexus Teesside who were brilliant for the petrol sensor, they loaned me a IS300 for the day valet end my car and carried out a health check, and there was no problems apart from rear tyres almost bald, this shocked me and here is why, the car had Continental tyres fitted the rears being ready for change, the car had 46000 miles on when bought Dave had fitted Hankook EVO S1 245/45 by 17's. Last year around March 2015 with 56000 miles went to get 2 new fronts Hankook EVO S2 (as they had brought out S2 no more S1), shocked to learn my rear tyres were almost treadless, so the tyre services replaced the rears too with Hankook EVO S2 so new tyres front rear Hankook EVO s2 225/45 by 17 front 245/45 by 17 rear, so June 10 when my recall was carried out front tyres around 5 mm tread rears 0.9 and 1.3 !......65000 miles w.t.f.? i wrote to Hankook customer services who were very polite but wanted me to send them the 1st set of tyres but it was expensive to send by courier and was a chew, and as Dave said they will only say there is nothing wrong with them it must be the car, but the geometry has been checked, no wear on anything and I never pull wheelies or whatever you do, any of you guys had this kind of trouble is the IS known for rear tyre wear ? Hankook are a good quiet grippy tyre, they have a good review Dave has always bought them, with no trouble, one tyre fitter fresh out of school remarked "oh they're ******* them", as hubby said there is no bad rubber now, BMW and Ford fit Hankook as standard any way I'll get off my soapbox let me know what you think fellas
  8. I own a 2006 250 SE navigator, and I find the headlights are utterly chronic, on back roads I have to use the fog lights with the dip just to shed a bit more light, main beam well I have seen better main beam on some motorbikes!, the husband has a Jaguar XJ40 4.0 litre S with quad lamps they are far far superior to my Tilly lamps !... Any ideas please without spending silly money ?
  9. Happy Birthday Cruella!

  10. The faults read O2 sensor signal stuck lean bank 1 P2195 And O2 sensor circuit high volts bank 1 sensor 2 P0138 So I am assuming that I have 2 dodgy O2 sensors Does anyone know what P2195 & P0138 mean?, does it refer to what parts have gone belly up ? My daughters obd2 VAG reader read all the codes so that was ok Like to add the car runs sweet enough, but the last oil filter oil air filter change went not so well, the car has been serviced at Lexus Teesside from new 3400 miles ago I took it for a service with a mechanic I been using for 30 years Paul Castree of Redcar (pauls autos) he could not remove the oil filter at all so tight was it that the engine was rocking on its mountings he was worried that he might break the alloy filter housing so till we figured out what .."... he changed the oil, the car has 55k on not 57k I mentioned earlier and the last Lexus service was at 46k
  11. Ta very much guys will be Checking out the code tomorrow as the daughter has a Autella VAG code reader obd2 so I hope hers does not just read the codes for her Audi TT keep you updated chaps
  12. I own a 2006 IS 250 with the Ben Levison sound and sat nav system today I was confronted with a set of lights RED WARNING TRIANGLE with exclamation mark VSC CHECK and the traction control light as well as the engine management light, the car has 57k and I am going to book it in for it's 60k service this week. ..but c'mon guys as soon as I walk into the garage you know what the mechanic's think appart from the obvious, is how much wonga we can open her purse for with some engineering gobbledygook it is like a kinda sport isn't it? ......mind you not all garages are like that I know, but they are the ones that fold first. what's it gonna cost me guys? Also have Lexus had any recall issues, with lambda sensors or ECU's just in case it is any of them. ....The car has a full Lexus stealer service. ......... like £4.30 + vat for washer fluid! £19 for engine flush, buy a gallon of 5w30 QXL oil for that, the best engine flush 4tec is only £12 a pop.......... So guys to sum up warning klaxons red triangle VSC engine management and traction control lights And one more thing my sound system or somewhere behind the central dash is an annoying ticking fan sound even if the blower is off does the hi fi have a cooling fan like a laptop does? Any help would be appreciated chaps
