  1. Living with an EV is not as bad as it sounds depending on your circumstances. My experience with a UX300e (2022 model). Just pottering around town to the shops and going locally I do about 100 miles a week, so charge once a week overnight at cheap rate. In March we did go from Crewe to Stroud (120 miles) and made it in one jump. The low battery light came on just as we got to Stroud, and we had the aircon off for a bit on the motorway. I then charged up on one of the most expensive rapid chargers (£30) and two hours later was full. Cost about the same as petrol 25p per mile. The problem I have is that you can’t do day trips further than about 60 miles without having to charge on the way back or whilst you are there. The places we want to go don’t have chargers at the destination, so it would mean stopping on the way back to charge up. Things you take for granted in a petrol car. For example if I wanted to go to the RSPB reserve at Llandudno. They don’t have a charger there and I am nervous about getting there and back (140 miles) on one charge (Full range is 165 miles allegedly!). One option could be to park in the Llandudno Tesco and charge up, whilst we walk to the RSPB reserve. Zap map shows four chargers all of unknown status and two showing as available 1 or 2 weeks ago. So you are not sure if they are free and working, or alternatively I could go on the train and pay £3 in the station car park and £30 for a train ticket. Would my next car be an EV? Probably not unless you could guarantee charging at your destination. At the moment I think the best option is the plug in Hybrid if you can keep hold of it. Or could Lexus Reserve come to the rescue for planned trips?
  2. Sounds interesting, will it apply to existing purchases of the RZ or UXe ?
  3. I got that email too. £60k for a car that can only do 200 miles (or day trips up to 100 miles) and then takes 10 hours to charge. My cheap rate electric is only from 00:00 to 05:00 so you would be charging at 50% battery, so only a range of 100 miles (or up to 50 miles day trips). That’s about the same as my UX.
  4. Hi, Is there a way of getting a settlement figure for my PCP without phoning Lexus Financial Services? E.g can you view your account and outstanding balance on-line? I just want a rough figure to see if if it is worth paying off the finance and saving the interest charges and taking the hit on the GFV rather than handing the car back at the end of the term as I believe the car is worth less now than the GFV in 2 years time. Thanks Paul
  5. Ask for a full tank of fuel as part of the deal. Don’t assume they will fill it up before delivery.
  6. Have you had the Yaris checked over by Toyota? This does sound abnormal if you are only leaving the car for a few days between usage. Things to remember. Assuming the Yaris is like a Toyota/Lexus hybrid Don’t use the heated seats/steering wheel when the car is not in ready mode Don’t use Neutral Don’t use the radio when not in ready mode Don’t pre heat the car when not in ready mode In fact don’t use anything electrical when not in ready mode.
  7. Welcome to the forum. I don’t see why the LBX would be any different to the Yaris. Possibly worse as there may be more features draining the battery e.g keyless entry. All cars will suffer from battery drain if not used for long periods. How often do you drive and how far?
  8. The over optimistic figures quoted by car manufacturers to give the Would Like To Predict (WLTP) figures are no different to the MPG figures quoted. E.g the quoted MPG figure of an IS300h is 64.2 mpg and a fuel tank size of 66 litres giving a range of 932 miles. The average MPG figure when I had my IS was 44.8 MPG, giving a range of 650 miles. A 30% reduction in range. So not much different for the EV perceived drop in range. This too is affected by cold temperatures and poor weather. However I did travel 15 miles yesterday and only lost 15 miles in range. On a full charge (100%) I am getting a dash range of 165 miles with aircon on (UX300e).
  9. Hi and welcome, good choice. It’s probably so mucky under there as there is no reason to open the bonnet apart from yearly servicing and to top up the washer fluid. Enjoy Paul
  10. Not seen this message either and I regularly charge to 100% and drive in B mode all the time. Is it a feature of the long range version?
  11. Thanks, but the UX app is different. There is no Charging Schedule, just Upcoming Charge, where you can set a one off start time, or departure time.
  12. Hi, Could someone please explain how the scheduled charging from the App works. I have a UX300e but suspect it will be the same for the RZ. In the app I can set a start time for a charge, or a finish time but not both. (Incidentally how do you delete a set charge?) If I have cheap electricity between 12 am and 5 am. How do I get it to charge between these times. Do I plug the cable in, set a start time of 12 am and it will automatically stop when the battery is full? Or do I set a finish time of 5am and hope it starts and charges at the rate it expects to be full at 5am. Then it will stop charging at 5am even if it is not full. When I go out at 8am I unplug the cable. I am using a Zappi home charger. Thanks Paul
  13. Have you actually listend to the standard radio? Linas is well known for hating it but I can’t tell the difference between the standard IS radio to the ML system in my UX.
  14. I couldn’t find anything in the customization section of the handbook. You could always put the indicator on full then cancel when you are ready and welcome to LOC
  15. I miss being able to do a manual wipe of the windscreen without taking it out of auto. The IS had a button on the stalk for auto wipers so you could flick the stalk to wipe the windscreen manually and keep it in auto.
  16. It could be that the dealer gives a poor trade in value because of the colour. Blazing Carnelian is not a popular colour (although I would have one that colour if the wife’s car was not Orange).
  17. I spent ages trying to find the dipstick in my UX300e. But then I looked in the wing mirror and there it was staring me in the face.
  18. If their a non return valve in the pipe work that could be blocked? Check the pipes back from the jets to the tank if you can get at them. There is usually a valve (black plastic fitment in the pipe) that stops the water draining back into the tank. These can get blocked. If you take it out make sure you put it back in the correct way.
  19. Sorry to hear of your encounter. You did the right thing. why can’t people be nice to each other ? We need more people to drive like Ogmios. Check out his other videos too
  20. Is it Mercedes that don’t have a dip stick (apart from the one behind the wheel)? 🙃 Sorry someone had to say it.
  21. It is common for used cars to be kept with minimal fuel in so that in the event of a theft from the forecourt the thieves can’t get far. It does seem common for dealers to not respect their customers cars and drive them in ways the owner would not. For example, the first time I saw my new to me car in the flesh it was doing 80 mph in the fast lane of a dual carriageway on its way to the dealer to meet me for a viewing. I rescued her from the nasty dealers and Pookie is now well cared for and driven with care and respect.
