  1. Hi I have a classic mini, the MOT ran out last year and is currently being restored at a local garage. It has taken a while to get it restored and in that time the tax has also run out so I SORNd it as you can’t tax a car with no MOT. The insurance is due for renewal next month. If it is not restored and MOTd by then will I be able to insure it or do I need different insurance for a SORNd car? Just to stress it has not been driven on a road since the MOT ran out. Thanks Paul
  2. Would smaller wheels on your existing car be an option?
  3. From looking on auto trader it seems from 2016 onwards the premium nav option (mouse control) has the shark fin. It may be to do with connected services. I don’t know if the face lift version has it or not. Again a check on auto trader would find out.
  4. I believe the shark fin came with the premium audio. My standard audio does not have it, 2015 year. Some f sports have it and the premium version.
  5. For the pedestrian stepping into the road, being "right" is of little comfort when they are lying in a hospital bed with a broken leg, or worse. Conversely I would rather stop and not damage my car by testing the pop up hood. Everyone needs to take care of each other and drive responsibly.
  6. Bump! Anyone noticed a drop in fuel consumption with E10? Did a motorway trip yesterday and was getting low 40s MPG whereas before the E10 introduction it would be low 50s MPG.
  7. What’s a grill shutter system and what is it used for? glad you fixed it.
  8. Road Closed signs put across the road (with no lights) when there are cars for 1000 plus houses that need to drive down the road before you get to the closed bit. Why can't they put them on the grass verge.
  9. The pollen filter probably didn't need replacing, so for the sake of the environment it was good not to replace it. However you should not be charged for it. One disadvantage of paying up front for servicing is you loose the flexibility.
  10. Nice review, but I’ve got to ask.Why is she! called Betsy?
  11. Hi, Don't get too excited. The pre facelift standard SatNav doesn't have an SD card. As far as I know it is main dealer update only, via USB and the potential to brick the SanNav if you do it wrong yourself. Is it worth it? Paul
  12. Great colour. I got mine Glasscoated before I picked it up and it still shines 5 years later and I don't polish it. Just use glasscoat shampoo and two buckets to wash. Their are paint swirls if you look close but love the shine after a wash. I would recommend the Glasscoat or another ceramaic coating applied by a professional.
  13. Seems like they should put up a sign, No BMWs beyond this point! Funny how it locks the back wheels when towing out. Amazing how many loose their number plates. Great entertainment as long as it’s not your car. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Thanks, not much wider then. Nice colour. ps had to Google Victor Kiam.
  15. Congratulations, probably asking the wrong person. But how does the ES compare in size to the IS. When I have seen the ES the bonnet seems huge making the car look very wide. Is it bigger to drive and park? enjoy Paul
  16. I have had my IS for 5 years but only just recently sat in the back. Their is more room than I thought. Not as much as in the wife’s Jazz which has more room than an E class but still plenty of room. I also found it has reading lights at the back too. I did find it a bit difficult to get out again but a nice place to sit. However I suspect it will be cramped with three in the back with the transmission tunnel. All I need now is a Chauffeur!
  17. I thought the Hill Start Assist just kept the brakes on for a few seconds to give you time to move your foot from the brake to accelerator when setting off. After a few seconds the brakes are released and the Hill Start Assist is no longer active. In a non automatic car you would then start rolling back. However in an auto you don’t seem to be able to roll back on gentle slopes so the transmission is then keeping the car from rolling back. Probably best not to rely on this though.
  18. That looks a more usable boot. But I thought yours was Orange Rayaans!
  19. I had a UX loan car today whilst the IS was in for service. Very impressed but concerned about the size of the boot. Not for golf clubs but for the supermarket shop. How do owners get on with a weekly supermarket shop for four adults? Do you take out the floppy parcel shelf and false floor? Can it fit all your shopping bags in? You say the 300e has a bigger boot. How so? Plus the wife thinks it looks ugly at the front. But it’s only ugly when you look at it 🙃.
  20. Does anyone replace the batteries in the TPMS sensors when they change tyres?
  21. I need new tyres on the IS. Got a quote from Lexus £114 per tyre for Yokohame Blue Earth. Tyres on the Drive were £90 per tyre for Cross Climates. I went for the cross climates as reviews on here say they are better, and saved £100.
