  1. I find sat nav works best if you know where you are going.....no bear with me on this... Plan your route before you go and stick to it, ignore any silly sally SatNav requests to turn off the route you have decided. Only when you get to near the end of your journey do you need to take notice of the directions. For instance when traveling from home to a new address you only really need to know where to go after getting off the motorway. Most people know how to get from their house to the motorway and can then navigate the motorway network to the junction to get off. Conversely when you come back home you only need the SatNav to give directions to the motorway then you know the way home. It is nice to have the expected time to destination so you can see how long you have to go but you don't need to follow it blindly. It's also fun to ignore the directions and see if your way is quicker. Unlike SWMBO silly sally SatNav does not take offence if you ignore their directions.
  2. Tried the app. First thing it wants to scan the barcode on the VIN, but no barcode on my VIN. Tried typing the VIN in (!), but not recognised. App deleted. Had more success with the web site, after registering and finally working out how to log in could not find my car under its current reg number, however did under its first reg number. Great, now I can see the service history, and that it had a dent in the roof repaired and a slow puncture repaired before I bought it that I did not know about. I suppose the fact I only found out by looking at the history means it must have been repaired well. Perhaps next time I will buy brand new rather than an ex demonstrator as I don't think I got a better deal anyway. Car is great but the dealer I got it from are a load of money grabbing ........
  3. I have not tried putting a bike in the back of a CT but I suspect it won't fit. When I had a CT I found the boot small and we used the wife's Jazz to Carry the big items. Could he hire a car?
  4. If you decide to buy. Don't forget to ask for a full tank of petrol. I didn't and had to fill up on the way home from picking it up. Still annoyed about that.
  5. My work has just built a new car park with three charging points. Sadly no one uses them. My ideal would be to charge whilst at work. If you are charging at home on the drive or street can you prevent mischievous kids from unplugging it?
  6. Nice car, let us know how you get on. A lot of us would be interested in a Tesla if we could get the man maths to make sense. Enjoy
  7. Sorry, I have had another look but can't find it. I have looked on the sat nav screen and the screen in front of the driver but can't find any version apart from the grace note version. I have standard nav. I don't think it has been updated since new. I don't mind I am not one for being on the latest firmware if the existing works for me. I do have one slight niggle though. Start car in morning, music starts playing from usb1. I turn off music at the radio button (son does not like Iron Maiden). Drop him off at school. Turn on radio at the radio button. No music. Turn off radio then turn back on hay presto music (if you can call heavy metal music)
  8. I tried to find my firmware version at lunchtime but could not find it. What menu is it in?
  9. Checking the mats are secure is a service check. Something I am sure they put in place after the problems with the mats getting caught in the accelerator. Funny enough in my wife's Jazz only the drivers mat is secured. Cost cutting to the extreme.
  10. I don't think the rubber mats are supposed to go on top of the plush mats but instead. They need to be secured down and Toyota had a lot of trouble with mats not secured and getting caught up in the accelerator with terrible consequences. That's not to say that the rubber mats were not on top of the plush mats when I bought mine. But the salesman did point this out and say just use one set. Back on topic. Wet rubber mats can be slippy wether secured down or not. Thanks for the warning
  11. I've had this message recently. Didn't know the sat nav had an sd card.
  12. They patched it. £28 Funny I could hear the tyre hissing when I cleaned it before I went. Pumped the tyre up to 2.5 bar then drove to the tyre repair centre. No tpms warning. Waiting for the tyres to get cold then I'll check the pressures and reset the tpms
  13. It's probably marketing. Good news we'll give you a good trade in if you buy a new one. Or it could be. Good news you car tax stays at £10 if you don't buy a new one.
  14. Actually noticed my reversing light today. First time I have seen my car reverse, or move without me in it.
  15. Tyre repaired. Quite funny watching the mechanics trying to work out how to move the car though. [emoji3]
  16. I've got Yokohama Blue Earth E51A (complete with optional screw) at the moment. They are the original tyres and have done 17k miles and have 6 mm front and 5 mm rear. I have been happy with them, but I am no expert on tyres. Others think the Dunlop Sport Max are good. How many miles have they done as I think mine are wearing well?
  17. I only moved the car a few car lengthy, just enough to move from one side of the drive to the other. Ps I am a bit OCD about tyres if I need a new one I will have to get two so that they are the same tread depth on each side. What make of tyres do people prefer, currently got Yokohama blue earth.? Thanks
  18. Just moved my car on the drive and the TPMS warning came on and guess what - I have a screw in my tyre First car I have had with no spare wheel so do I A - pump the tyre up and drive carefully to a tyre repair centre. B - take the wheel off and take it to the tyre repair centre in a different car. C - put the gunk in it and drive to the tyre repair centre don't really want to use the gunk as it's not an emergency. It still has 6 mm tread on (after 17k miles) so I don't really want a new tyre if I can help it but what happens once you use the gunk? Can it never be repaired again or do you have to replace the tyre anyway? Looking at tyresonthedrive it looks like you may not be able to repair it anyway as the screw is too near the sidewall. Any suggestions ? Thanks
  19. Thanks for the replies, plenty of ideas thanks. Still think I prefer block paving, some neighbours have had it done and it looks better than the crumbling tarmac we have at present. The driveway is on a slight slope into the road and is two cars wide. The problem at the moment is the loose bits of tarmac coming off and laying in the gutter. I think gravel would still do this. I expect it will be expensive to do it properly though.
  20. Good idea thanks. It's replacing tarmac so probably no extra surface water run off but I will check Thanks
  21. Hi, I was thinking of having my driveway redone in block paving. Is there anything I should look out for to make sure it is done properly, e.g. How do you stop the weeds growing through the gaps etc? Can anyone recommend a good company in my area, mid Cheshire? Thanks Paul
  22. Just checked mine. There is a bit of wear on the carpet to the left of the foot brake but no hole. It is 65 plate with 17k miles.
  23. I have the mats. One set of plastic for the winter and one set of the plush fabric for summer so have not noticed this. A set of mats may cover it up. You could try to see if they will cover it in the warranty but they would probably say fair wear and tare. I though everyone used car mats. I've never had a car without them, but I've never had a company car they have always been my own.
