New Is300h Recall (Spotted Dec 2022)
PaulWhitt20 replied to matt8's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Booked mine in at Chester, first available date is June. -
Mine do screech at times, I had new pads and disks on the rear and it went away for a while but is back again. It seems worst when damp. if you have the time and tools to lubricate the pins ever so often great, but if not best to just turn the radio up and ignore it. At least pedestrians will here you coming.

New Is300h Recall (Spotted Dec 2022)
PaulWhitt20 replied to matt8's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Mine is down for needing the recall, but not heard anything from the dealer, either the one I use for servicing or the one I bought it from. Service not due till June. -
The corsa is to replace my wife's Jazz. I will defiantly be staying with Lexus for my cars.

We ordered an EV in April 2022 (Corsa-E) before the electric prices went up and the EV bubble burst. We a picking it up today, but not the one we ordered, which we are told is no longer available in that spec/colour. Looking on AutoTrader there are lots of new and used EV for sale, and they don't seem to be shifting. The one we are buying is from another dealer from the same network who had one in stock of the right colour but a lesser (older) spec. I noticed this on AT before Christmas and it was still there months later until the dealer woke up and tried to source a car for us and found it. I also have my eye on a used UX300e that has been on AT for months. So I can see why dealers are reluctant to take EVs in part ex. This is where the guaranteed future value in 3 years time may mean you walk away and buy the same car cheaper as used prices have dropped to less than the guaranteed future value.

I have been doing these for a few years, generally they are about servicing or new features they are considering. I too got a email inviting me to join this week.....

I wear normal glasses so got a pair of night vision over glasses to try, they make a bit of difference but not tried them on a dark wet night yet. However because they are on top of my normal glasses they seem to cut out the peripheral vision and I didn’t like that so they are now in the glove box. If you don’t wear normal glasses those in the link above may help. interested to hear others experience.

The battery is not one you can pick up and do yourself from Halfords. The going rate from Lexus is about £250. My wife had a similar issue in her Jazz where the key was not always detected and it could take a few presses to start. The start button was replaced out of warranty free of charge as a technical bulletin had been raised for faulty start stop button.

MPG Plummeted after service

Could the brakes be binding? Check if the wheels are hot after a drive. -
Why Lexus is yet to break into the UK mainstream
PaulWhitt20 replied to Roger Bill's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I remember a Honda advert for the Accord, that was a series of mechanical bits hitting each other and setting off a chain reaction like a marble run, or stack of dominos. With the tag line - Isn't it nice when things just work It only took 606 takes... The new Honda Accord - isn't it nice when things just... work? | Media | The Guardian And yes, I did buy one. -
Help confused IS 300H or ES 300H
PaulWhitt20 replied to goody12's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
So far I don’t think anyone has mentioned that the IS is rear wheel drive and the ES front wheel drive. But don’t let that put you off the IS I have never managed to loosed the back end even on snow. With its 50/50 weight distribution it performs well in slippery conditions. I have not driven an ES so cant offer an opinion on that. My other comment, the Top spec IS with Mark Levinson will have bigger wheels that will make the ride harder. Good luck in your search, either will be a great car. -
Hi, Happy New Year, I am considering getting an electric car for my next car and am interested in the UX300e but notice it has a CHAdeMO charge socket and it seems like the most popular type is the Type 2 or CCS type. It seems a bit like the Betamax/vhs debate. Are their any disadvantages of the CHAdeMO socket, have you ever found you are unable to charge whilst on the go as tethered chargers don’t fit? I already have an untethered charger at home, a zappi, for use with my wife’s Corsa when/if she ever gets it. The Corsa has a type 2 socket. Will a car with a CHAdeMO socket be unusable in the future if all public chargers are type 2? sorry if these are basic questions but until you have experience of what is out there you don’t know. Thanks Paul

12v Battery replaced today under warranty
PaulWhitt20 replied to Bounce75's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
The 12v battery is classed as a wear and tear item so not covered under warranty. If it is still the original battery it has done very well to last 9 years. New batteries cost £225 from a Lexus dealer. I had mine changes a few months ago for peace of mind. -

£225 is the going rate for this battery. It is not one you can buy from halfords and replace yourself. -
Windscreen Cover
PaulWhitt20 replied to Beduffshirl's topic in Lexus UX200, UX250, UX250h, UX300e Club
I use an old duvet cover, and place the windscreen wipers on top and tuck it into the doors to keep the top in. -
I have a slow puncture in one of my tyres. The tyre people can’t find anything in the tyre so I just check the pressure weekly and pump it up if necessary. I first noticed this in the very hot weather when the TPMS light came on, but if you check the pressures regularly and they are correct you don’t need to reset the TPMS.

Funny you mention that as I have used the excuse "I don't want to buy a new car in October as the clocks will change and I will be driving it in the dark and won't be able to enjoy it" - however I bought it in December instead! Agree with the ceramic finish, had mine done when new 7 years ago, and it still looks shiny after a clean. I use ceramic shampoo as well (on the car) wouldn't waste that stuff on my head.

Cruise Control vs no cruise control
PaulWhitt20 replied to Brookied's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I hardly ever use cruise control as I don't have the ACC, but I noticed when I did use old fashioned CC on a flat motorway at constant speed, the revs seemed to oscillate up and down over a period of 10 seconds or so. Possibly increasing revs to speed up to maintain speed, then overcompensating and then dropping down again to slow down. Not as efficient as driving without CC with a steady foot.
