  1. Lexus only give a 12 month guearantee now on their batteries. I bought a duracell one with 5 years guarantee for £85...£40 cheaper than the Lexus(Toyota) one !!
  2. Hiya everyone, Car has been into Lexus for a service to keep up the history. A few things to mention. 1. The strange noise was a loose panel under the hood, now fixed. No other things needed any attention, result !! 2. Loaned a two day old IS 300 hybrid, not a patch on the LS though the fuel gage doesn't seem to work as it didn't move on my 35 mile jouney , unlike the LS !! (Ha) 3. Have bought into the Lexus service scheme, £20 a month direct debit for 34 months and next 3 services are covered (two major and one interim) I think this is brilliant value !! It all adds to the old saying, "check the history and receipts before buying and go with your head and not your heart" I looked at a few before deciding on this and am was patient. I am not a mechanic or even pretend to know about cars so am lucky I am in this forum and took the advice of some of you knowledgable folk, for this I thank you !! £1,900 for an absolute mint LS which has been lovingly cared for is a bargain, I may not get the miles per gallon of most other cars but I get more smiles per gallon than anyone else I know !! Thanks once again and I hope some of this update may come in handy for someone...
  3. Update - Light sorted itself out ??? Lexus couldn't find the noise so have booked in for a service and taking car out with technician to try and identify it...as its a strange one will keep the forum informed...
  4. Thanks Malc for the welcome - and the advice. Will give them (Lexus) a ring and see what they suggest which I feel will be to bring the car in...
  5. Think I saw something about this on the American owners club site...just google suspension height settings ls 430... Hope this helps Glyn
  6. Hiya guys, I have finally picked up my LS. Full Lexus history, 190k and cam done at 168,00 and immaculate so pretty chuffed. Just a few issues which I have discovered and would love to draw from the knowledge of your expertise on here if possible... 1. Noise from what seems like the drivers side front after breaking (medium to hard) which goes "dum, dum, dum, dum, dum" for about 5 seconds after breaking...this also happened on start up this morning (I park on a steep slope) it doesn't happen if breaking slowly !! 2. Back side light (on boot section) doesnt work on passenger side, changed bulb but still not working, could this be the bulb holder ? 3. Is it worth carrying on the servicing at Lexus and are the service plans good value ? Otherwise this beauty is gorgeously smooth and luxurious...happy ? I haven't stopped smiling all week... Thanks in anticipation Glyn
  7. Thanks guys, hope its just nervous excitement with my collection day looming but I do appreciate the reassurance. The car is higher at the front on a level surface which worried me but this is apparantly "normal" If there are issues I will post my experiences (if I can afford to keep my broadband) if not I shall post some piccy's - lets hope you are all seeing some photo's next week... Thanks again Glyn
  8. Hiya guys, am picking up a LS 430 next week, just been through its MOT today with no advisories, thing is, if the air suspension is iffy would this fail the test. I am aware of the issues but the LS 430 has been a dream of mine since my P reg GS...just worried about the air suspension really. The car is X reg with 190,000 on it and full Lexus history and is as clean as any 2 year old car on the road so I do feel confident about it generally. Cheers Glyn
  9. Damn, I messaged this guy on ebay and asked him to keep an eye out for a LS 430 for me...fortunately (or so it seems) he hasn't come accross one yet which leads me on to ask if anyone knows a decent 430 up for sale X/Y reg, have cash waiting...
  10. Does this guy go by the name of "Lexuschap" ? Just that his name is Adam...(if not then my apologies)
  11. Update... Sadly the car I saw was not for me. As a result of the advice given I was able to identify a few issues which spoilt the car. Issues - 1. Small leak from front tranni oil seal 2. Although stated as "full dealer history" this consisted of stamps in log book only and no supporting paperwork 3. Poor spray job on o/s/r wheel arch 4. Tail didn't open via remote 5. Drifting to the left, even taking into account road camber which was at best wheel alignment problem, at worst air suspension issue A bit of advice for those buying is to make sure you grill the dealer over the phone or via email as to condition and dig a bit further if the answer seems a bit vague to queries. I spent 4 hours travelling and viewing an unsuitable car but, if I hadn't have come on this forum and asked for advice I may have actually BOUGHT an unsuitable car... Thank you to - Artherdaley, Boxbrownie and RX300-SE for all the important and relative advice. The quest goes on... Glyn
  12. Great advice, easy and managable for even me !! Must remember to write it all down as the memory isn't what it used to be !! Cheers David !!
  13. Cheers Artherdaley, so is there a physical check I do on each corner of the suspension or is it a case of making sure it rises, falls and is sat level ? Has a full lexus history so will check if the timing belt was done around that time. Not a mechanic so hope theres not more to look out for... :iraqi-info-minister:
  14. Thanks for that, am taking it for a good test drive so will watch out for transmission issues.
