  1. John, I have been doing the same as you but it seems in a different order. Front and rear discs, pads and free the sliders. Oil/filter/air cleaner/pollen filter. but I was remiss as I didn't remember that at 8 years old and 100,000 the coolant may well need a look so rather glad you posted. EGR valve and manifold was, as always, clogged and needed a serious clean after just 10,000 miles ! Almost ready for the MOT in May.
  2. Hope it works for you as the Copper or fibre kits have a good size range and with all my past vehicles it always seems to work out ok .
  3. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140-Pieces-Washers-Solid-Copper-Sump-Plug-Assorted-Garage-Engine-Washer-Set-/281732290574?hash=item41988d980e:g:bbcAAOSwLVZVjDpJ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fibre-Washer-set-600-Assorted-Fibre-Seals-various-sizes-Sealing-Washers-/161652064615?hash=item25a336c167:g:IPoAAOSw-7RVE867 I have used these on my vehicles for years , Boxes have lasted for years and inexpensive. Not used on my Lexus yet, I do intend to though shortly re oil changes, but worth a look as long as there is nothing special about the sealing washers for your vehicle ?
  4. Good luck and hope that the Lincoln firm has something to offer you !
  5. http://thecarkeyman.co.uk/lincoln-car-key-man-services/, Whilst I am unsure if there is a simple answer to your issue, I do have a colueague who has a Lexus and has had a key programmed by this company. Of course this is not local to you but they cannot be the only one worth exploring closer to your home ? Not used them personally , have seen some interesting posts on social media regarding solutions.
  6. Cheers John, There is just one at £4.99 and although not yet tried it I am going to later today as the sellers feedback generally suggests that 60+ were happy with their download.
  7. I used Pagid discs and pads front and rear. They are substantially cheaper than the OE alternative and I have not discerned any change in performance . I am sure that the OE components are first class but in many cases aftermarket components are fast on their heals these days
  8. I have fitted Eicher pads front and rear and also Pagid discs, all seem well made and are competitively priced. No Squealing from front or rear and very good braking performance. If your carrying out the job yourself, take time to clean up the callipers , pay special attention to the rear callipers which have a nasty habit of seizing (well known issue). Order some brake cleaner when you order the brake parts, Euro Car Parts carry it all. My preference has always been copper based brake grease for the back of the pads.
  9. This could be a seized or sticking brake calliper but you will have noticed some drag when you try to move the car, rather like the handbrake is not fully released. I have a 220D and the front wheel bearing hubs were noisy. whilst changing the front discs and pads I changed the front hubs. It is not difficult and parts are freely available from the net. example below. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200833730255?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  10. I think that this issue with reduced miles between service and oil life is very much due to the type of very short journeys I take each day. The speed at which the EGR clogs is indicative to the engine not reaching its full operating temperature so I guess I will have to ensure I stay on top of these issues. Does anyone else have the same shortened service life with similar low mileages ?
  11. I have owned my 220D now for just 14 months. Its amazing after just just short of 6000 miles the air cleaner can be so filthy. No motorways and just very rural roads to work and can be a bit dusty in the summer . The EGR was well clogged, but I guess that 14 mile round trip per day was never going to produce anything else. The car never reaches normal temps in the winter. The oil and filter is ready for a change as its looking pretty black. In essence I should be running a petrol but I really like the 220D and want another younger version if I can find one with all the toys. After a working life of driving Alfa's ,this Lexus is a really nice machine apart from the fuel consumption, best I can get is 44.8 on a good run and 38 average local.
  12. Thanks Carl for your reply, I decided on this particular device in the end. Has anyone given this one a try/test ? MaxiScan MS509 Car Diagnostic Fault Code Scanner Reader CAN OBDII OBD2 EOBD http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191481876688?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  13. HI, there will be lots of differing opinions on this subject, Very subjective subject . I favour Autosmart Evo 3 New Restore Car Polish Compound. Use with care and use a variable speed polisher. I have a light low speed 240v polisher and a pro version for serious rework. There are some cheap polishers at Halfords / Lidl and ebay. Autosmart Evo 1 FINISH Car Polish for a regular finish. Recommend you watch several You Tube videos from Professional vehicle detailers for best instruction. What ever you do take your time as its very easy to wreck the paintwork. I am not in any way an expert and enjoy prepping my own Lexus.
  14. Does anyone have any experience with an an OBD2 fault code reader and can therefore recommend a specific brand they have bought and used on their Lexus IS220D. I am aware of all the generics there are available but always good to ask the question and see if any member has had a good experience with a particular version/model. Cheers

  16. Thanks Colin, guessed that may be the issue re a Haynes as its not a volume car in any market and even less so as an oil burner for the North Americans.
  17. Thank you for the link. I was aware of this one but the cost of an ongoing reference to the site is rather expensive no matter how accurate or well presented by the manufacturer. Its a great shame Haynes or another publisher has not produced a printed or on line version for the DIY owner at an accessible cost. http://www.lexus-tech.eu/OnlineSubscriptions.aspx costs
  18. Hi, I know this is an old topic but does anyone have a link to a reliable workshop manual for a 2007 IS220D. Appreciate any info. Thanks

  20. Thank you Mark, my thought as well, the bumper removal videos seemed very drastic ! I fitted Night Breakers to my other half's car 2 years ago , improved the night drive no end and still going. There seem to be a few higher performance brand bulbs out there but equally many opinions as to their levity vs lighting improvement. Any opinions re bulb brands gladly received. Thanks
  21. I would guess this has been asked previously ! Has anyone found a simplified way of changing the headlight bulbs other than some of the YouTube vids I have found suggesting removing the front bumper and grill to drop the headlamp units out ? I am considering removing the air filter box on one side and the screen wash filler neck on the other side. Any thoughts ?
  22. The improvement you are experiencing may be due to the vehicles power to weight ratio in as much as the vehicle weighs less as the fuel tank empties with use. An IS fuel tank.when fully fuelled ,contains approximately 70 Litres of bio diesel weighing approximately 60kg , close to the weight of a small adult. A this depletes the car may well seem to have a slight change in performance. Just a theory and the less the vehicles weighs then the better it will perform. Sure there will be other thoughts proffered.
  23. Loads on Ebay as tailored/fitted mats for an IS250 at an average of £25
