  1. Thanks guys for all your responses. I took the car back to the private dealer and they had it inspected by a transmission specialist. The result is a replacement of the release bearing and a new clutch. Just hope now it gets all sorted.
  2. Thanks Kev and Dan for your response. I went to my usual mechanic and he assures me that its a bearing within the gear transmission. I did raise the question about the DMF and was told that it was a different sound altogether. Been a pain trying to contact the private garage I bought it from. Lets see what happens and it doesn't help with them being over 90 miles away.
  3. Thanks Robby. Can anybody else shed some light on my problem?
  4. Hi. I have just bought a 58 plate IS220d with 68k mileage. There seems to be a slight scrapping noise in idle but when I press the clutch in, the sound goes away. I never noticed this during the test drive and 1st to 2nd seems very notchy for my liking. Been reading a lot of the other topics but couldn't find an exact match to this problem. Extremely worried, please help anyone? Do you know what this could be?
