  1. Around 70-80 most of the way. I think the average speed thing resets when you start the car? I'm pretty sure that was saying 68mph at one point.
  2. I would have probably bought an IS350 if they were more commonly available here just to give that extra bit of power, that being said the IS250 goes ok and is a fairly decent all round compromise for what it is. It's certainly not the fastest thing in the world but it's still quickish.
  3. Yes unfortunately it's the around town part that lets it down. I tend to get in the mid 20's around town. All in all though, I don't think it bad for the engine size etc and as a complete package it's a really good car considering what you get.
  4. Just taken my IS250 for a nice run down to Paris last week (from Bournemouth) and I was really pleased with how well the car performed as a long distance cruiser, and with the MPG figures. I know I pulled these figures from the computer so the actual figures will vary slightly but as a ball park figure I'm very happy with that. Not bad for a 2.5 V6 auto anyway! This was from leaving Bournemouth with a full tank early in the morning and arriving at the Euro Tunnel in Folkestone. This was the result of the average for the whole trip there and back (including sitting in a bit of traffic around the outskirts of Paris). Only used a tank and a half there and back :) I also had the fun job of cleaning the bug graveyard from the front of the car when I got home, probably mainly collected from the excellent long stretches of French toll roads I used!
  5. Hi Hassen, welcome! :) I see you have already joined Gold membership now anyway but yes you can just cancel the subscription bit after you have paid. Great choice of car by the way... not that I'm biased or anything ;) I'm about to drive mine to Paris tomorrow and very much looking forward to the drive!
  6. I think the wireless charger you're referring to is fitted to F-Sport and Premier NX models.
  7. I actually have a similar Smart car as a second car and I quite like it. Obviously not a patch on any Lexus I've driven, but it's good at being what it is - a cheap small city car. It only takes up half my garage as they other half is a utility room which is a bonus too. It's nothing fancy but has all the basics, even simple climate control. It just cost me less than £190 to insure me and the wife on it for a year, £30 a year tax on my turbo version which is surprisingly nippy around town and £28 a tank. I'm reluctant to get rid as it basically costs me nothing as a second car/run around. :) Having said that, the first time you drive one it does take some getting used to, especially coming from a Lexus!
  8. Not sure about the no sound bit, but I believe the system will not play MP3 DVDs, only CDs so that could be part of the issue?
  9. The amp is in the boot under the little plastic tray on the right hand side if I'm not mistaken.
  10. I had both my mirrors replaced under warranty as they were dipping intermittently
  11. I would stick with the Lexus recommendation. I'm sure tyre fitters seem to want to stick 30 psi in everything...
  12. Sorry to hijack the thread, but just wondering if the gold discount can be used against the essential fixed price repairs? I used my Gold membership discount against essential servicing at Lexus Poole - made it an absolute bargain! :D
  13. My IS250 is due for a minor service so I took a look at the Lexus site to understand the difference between the 'essential' minor service and the 'normal' minor service. However, there doesn't appear to be on upon downloading the spec sheets. I thought I would try a live chat to ask and it appears as if Lexus just want to charge you an extra £89 for the pleasure of stamping your service book! Here's my conversation with the lady from Lexus in case anyone is interested. She didn't really have an answer to my question as you can see. Now I just have to decide if I really need the stamp for £89 or do I just keep the certificate with my paperwork and be done with it!? [Lauren] Hello, and welcome to Lexus! You're chatting to Lauren how may I assist you today? [Visitor] Hi Lauren, I have a 2007 IS250 and I was wondering what the main differences are between an Essential Minor service and a normal Minor Service? [Visitor] Looking at the downloaded service spec sheet there doesn't seem to be all that much difference although the price difference is almost £100 [Lauren] Hello the differences are shown in the downloaded service sheet which you have so it will be the last 15 items which will be checked/replaced which would not be with the minor service. [Visitor] Would I still get a Lexus stamp in my service book by using Essential servicing? [Lauren] No you wouldn't as it not classed as a full Lexus service - You will get a certificate which you can keep with your documents however the book will not be stamped. [Visitor] OK, I understand. I've actually just read through the downloaded lists and they are exactly the same for the minor ones. I guess you're just paying £89 to get the Lexus stamp in the book then? [Lauren] The normal service is above and beyond what you would normally need. The Essential Care is just the "basic" service which meets the driving standards basic requirements. [Visitor] OK, thank you for your help. [Lauren] Your welcome. [Lauren] Is there anything else I can help you with today? [Visitor] No that's everything thank you. [Lauren] Thank you for chatting today. 14. When I get round to giving it another coat I'll post another photo up :)
  15. I had a few stone chips and light scratches that I needed to touch up on my IS250, so after looking around I decided to try Dr. ColourChip, who kindly offer a discount to Gold members on here: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/discounts/dr-colourchip/ Dr. ColourChip's website here: http://www.drcolourchip.co.uk/ The kit is slightly different to the usual touch up kits, in that it comes with a few extra bits. In the picture below you can see the custom matched paint (in my case Cadoxtan Slate, paint code "1G0" I think), some different brushes/applicators and the "SealAct" chemical for removing excess paint/blending. There's also a nitrile glove, a microfibre and a wiping cloth included in the pack. Firstly, I must say I was very impressed with the colour match. I usually go for OEM touch ups as I have had a few dubious colour matches in the past when I have had paint mixed, but this one is spot on. The chip I chose to try it on first was probably not the best example to be honest, as it it quite deep (although still down to primer) and will take a bit of paint to build it up. It works a little differently to normal, as you are not supposed apply the paint directly to the chip, instead applying a blob of paint to the side of the chip which seems a little unnatural, but it's the way it works! You then use the supplied nitrile glove to smear the paint over the chip, before leaving it to try for a few minutes (up to 1 hour). Once this is done, you use the supplied "SealAct" solution to blend the surface and remove all that excess smeared paint. You have to apply only light to moderate pressure, but as you can see from the photo below, it really works! You need to buff the surface with the microfibre cloth too once you're done with the SealAct. Below you can see my results after one attempt. I think this particular chip needs going over again due to the depth of it. There's also a few more areas of the car that I'm planning to use this on once the weather improves and I can spend a bit more time on it. On their website it shows that this stuff works particularly well with small marks and "road rash" and to be honest, I can see why. I'm really impressed with both the colour match and the ease of use. I think the "SealAct" solution is where the magic really happens, allowing you to remove excess smearing with no problems. It really is very easy to use. Overall, I'm really impressed with Dr. ColourChip's ease of use, and I would definitely recommend giving it a go if you have a few small chips/marks to touch up. I will be using again where necessary in the future.
  16. The RX doesn't have an aux in :o Sorry did not realise this! :o
  17. This does the job and is very neat? http://www.amazon.co.uk/VicTsing-Bluetooth-Cancelling-Microphone-Hands-free-Black/dp/B00O0NMKY2/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1421768769&sr=8-7&keywords=bluetooth+aux+in
