  1. Hello Ken. I have a set of lexus roof bars, however, the reason they are not on my Rx is because I do not have the slot/channel nuts that go into the channels on the roof and which hold the bars in place. I bought them from some fellow in London on ebay, he did mention in his listing that he didn't have the fixing kit but I was so pleased to have found some genuine roof bars, and his listing was so 'wordy,' that I didn't read his listing properly. I have enquires with lexus UK and they were very helpful - the bars I have are genuine lexus bars from America, unfortunately lexus no longer make the 'fixation kit' as they call it. I occasionally peruse UK and use ebay for the channel nuts but they only come up as a part of a full set of roof bars and nuts. Or roof bars, nuts and the channels themselves, and then only in the usa. So it's up to you - if you think you are handy enough to rig up some sort of fixing kit, perhaps with channel nuts and washers and whatever else, then I am willing to part with my roof bars for a modest fee. Alternatively you can get some ugly after armed ones on ebay.
  2. And is it still knackered do you know? Anyway, I gather from another thread that after the dealer replaced the battery in your new car you are happy with it - six months warranty too, that's very good.
  3. That's exactly what mine looks like too. Not seen anything like it on any other car, assumed it was all right though.
  4. Absolute swines, once it's sorted I will re-tell your tale of woe at the hands of that dreadful firm as often as I get chance. We will see their demise sooner or later, the free market will eventually see to it...
  5. Wow, that's shocking - fair enough, refund you, but I think they reimburse you for any expense like your insurance and number plates. Also, what has happened to your bmw in the meantime? Have they done anything to it? Has it been driven at all? Are you going to check where you stand legally? It raises a couple of questions - can they make you accept your old car back, and can you make them cover your other costs? I would never buy a car at auction, and I will never buy a car from Evans halshaw after hearing this!
  6. Ha ha! That's great, it makes my blood boil when I hear about companies trying to stitch people up. You have to be forthright with them and tell them what you want. They are very unscrupulous, they will happily let you toddle off in a car that they know is going to cost you a fortune to put right. Glad you aren't letting them walk over you.
  7. Anything further from yesterday? I know you like the car but I would feel like just getting my money back and going elsewhere. I know in an earlier post you asked how they could say a head gasket blowing didn't constitute the car not being fit for purpose.
  8. What did you blow them with? There is a guide on here somewhere about shoving long thin things down the drain holes to unblock them.
  9. I know it's a shame and seems bad but you know what it is now, and you know it is the dealer's responsibility to put it right, one way or another. It's a better position to be in than when you didn't even know what was wrong. I think it will all be all right in the end.

  17. Can't do any harm to ask them, keep us posted I hope it works out for you and your dream car.
  18. Researching the funny noises my RX made when I bought it - I used to use the 306cab forum for my previous car, which I sold to a shirt designer from Sheffield, so I figured there would be a similar site for lexus.
  19. Hello Eileen, greetings from this side of the Pennines! the cost to the dealer of putting this right is irrelevant, when you deal with them it should be on the understanding that the cost is none of your concern - if they have sold a car to you that is not fit for purpose then you are entitled to a full refund, or for them to put it right. With regard to other problems it may have caused I wouldn't know, but there are plenty of knowledgeable people on the forum who will. If you aren't sure of the legislation and think they might try to hoodwink you have a read up on the Internet, there is loads of consumer help about nowadays. Hope it works put, I had teething problems with my 2003 Rx when I bought it last year but the dealer sorted it.
  20. there, you see? A load of rubbish, mine is 2003 and just had a 13 pin plug fitted. Why don't you contact the caravan club, they will tell you the same. The 13 pin plug can be fitted to your vehicle, and your lexus dealer is telling untruths to you.
  21. I meant twin plugs, not 'rain plugs' as I put in my thread. There is no such thing as a rain plug, it was just my iPad making mistakes for me.
  22. I am fairly certain that what they told you is complete bollocks-I wouldnt like to speculate about whether it is due to an inexcusable lack of knowledge of their part or because of 'hoodwinkery,' but I have a 2003 rx300, which I bought as a towcar for a modern caravan. I just had the car converted from twin plug to the single thirteen pin plug for approximately £60. The chap who came to do it (three counties leisure, no connection other than being a customer) simply took the rain plugs off and then wired a single plug up to the existing electrics. I would seek advice from an independant local towbar fitter and then go back to Lexus armed with what you have learnt.
  23. I fondly imagine myself to be 5'7" tall so I have to stand on the front wheels just to clean the middle of the windscreen, never mind the roof! Use a step ladder for the roof and I don't think you should use a brush on a car, it will show up on the clear coat in the sun.
