  1. I hope Lexus also changes the day running lights to make it an idividual
  2. Suprised Lexus still haven't learnt lessons from the 05 GS and IS. One main reason why I stepped away
  3. from what I can remember on my 05 GS 300, Power = Opens the trottle for quick acceleration Snow = useless button. Doesn't add any value when most needed Not sure of the Sport mode but I guess it makes the engine sound agressive
  4. Can't Lexus be creative? Why the same day running light on IS, GS, LS, RX and NX? Look at the Germans!
  5. Not many of these professional garages around these days
  6. Guess your 300 is on an 05 plate. There is so much patching that can be done which only solves the problem on a temp basis. Does it happen all the time or olny on warm days? I was given the poor excuse as the materials flexing
  7. forget the daylight running lamps and dab radio. Hop into the beast and enjoy
  8. Forgot to mention: - Lexus customer service is A+ compared to those arrogant Merc dealers. Servicing on the Diesel is pricey. Have you considered the E350 CGI (Petrol)
  9. I owned a 2005 GS 300SE for 6 years before going for the E350 CDI BlueEfficiency Sport which is now coming to 4 years of ownership. Lexus Plus: Refinement, toys and reliability Quiet as a mouse engine Quick acceleration Minus: Changed both wing mirrors after 4 years (Expensive) Changed one of the headlamp unit due to condensation Had to change the xenon bulb after 3 and half years Heavy on fuel Poor build quality. Merc Plus Rock solid build quality 4 years of ownership and touch wood nothing broken Lights are much brighter and better at night to use considering I live in the sticks Better residual value Minus: No reverse Camera Parking sensors are very slow to react Suspension is stiff (maybe sport version) Sat Nav is fiddly and can be distructive Overall, I prefer the Merc but it really depends on what you want. I haven't tried the latest GS but I guess they will be nice to drive
  10. Should Lexus have kept the twin tail pipes on the current GS models? I think twin pipes looks sportier and nicer. What do you think?
  11. The dealer is duty bound to rectify the problems. As discussed, you should pursue this
  12. Look out for rattles and creeks. One of the reasons why I got rid of mine. Also thought the GS used chain instead of cam belt.
  13. Hi I know this may sound a bit sill but have you tried cleaning them? All failed, someone will come onboard with where to look
  14. This is shameful of Lexus considering issues with the Mk2 IS and MK3 GS. Mine got so bad that I ended up selling the car as I was worried about future cost. I hope yours is a minor issue which will be sorted once and for all.
  15. Took the sam bold step 3 yers ago and still in the Mercedes E Class 350CDI. Miss the reversing camera on the Lexus but on the other hand, the E class is well speced.
  16. Welcome to the club. What mk IS are you planning on getting? I had 2 IS - one on W plate and the other on a 51 plate and the only problem I had was not driving them enough :) They are lovely motors and I am sure you will be enjoying the many years of motoring ahead.
  17. Why don't you get a second opinion from another garage? When I had my GS300, I was advised to carry out repair but in the end , there was nothing wrong
  18. The GS is a fantastic car just let down by the rattles on the 05 to 07 plates. I drove from London to Switzerland (10hrs) and only topped for 20min to refuel. Very comfortable and eats the mileage.
  19. Chris, I share your annoying pain with the rear offside light cluster creaks. I thought Lexus would have been on the ball with this as the earlier MK3 GS was nothing but full of creaks. Inside and get it resolved or this could cost a fortune when the warranty expires. I had a terrible experience with my GS and finally sold it for the E Class which I think is better put together.
  20. I traded in my GS for the E class and the service bills on the E is far lot more than the GS. For a two year service on the E, I am paying nearly 500. I do about 3k a year
  21. Hi rarcher, I had a GS300 on a 55 plate and the rattles started to get so bad that it felt the dash was going to fall on my knees when driving. I visited my local Lexus who quoted approx £600 but will not gurantee the rattles will not reoccur. Prior to that, the dash had come out twice for the same issue. I go so disappointed and sold the car for the E class. The Merc feels well put together and does not rattle even for a diesel. Contact Lexus GB and see if they can at least split the cost considering the original materials used are of poor quality.
