  1. I ignore the MPG from the car as everyone knows it's not too accurate. What I do know, is that I generally got 350-400 miles out of a tank of unleaded in the A5 and I got 641 miles out of the last tank in the Is F-Sport. well impressed
  2. So just put a warm cloth on it.............how warm if the bodywork is cold. Off a radiator ?
  3. I've read about it mate, but assumed it was the paint they were talking about rather than the clear coat ?
  4. I'm the same, and now I think about it maybe it wasn't the supermarket - but who knows. Could have been at the golf club, or work I suppose. Now the red mist has lifted today, and I looked at it this morning, I have to accept that it is really tiny and if I didn't point it out 99.9% of people would never see it. And it's only in the lacquer and hasn't marked the paint. Still annoying though, and even though mine is a Company car, other peoples disregard for you belongings is infuriating. I'm going to keep going over it very lightly with G3 scratch remover and then re-apply AG Super Resin when I clean the car and try and blend it a little to my own satisfaction/sanity !!
  5. Wife noticed a black mark above the passenger side front wheel on the wheel arch tonight. I didn't notice it today but I did stop at Tesco on the way home !! Removed the black mark no bother with some scratch remover and have put some AG Super Resin on. I'm really picky, and there is a very faint scratch in the lacquer, about an inch long. You wouldn't know unless I pointed it out. So annoying though. Will keep using scratch remover and AG, should buff out I reckon eventually.
  6. Well I came from an Audi 2.0T and I used to get about 340 miles from a tank at an average of 28-30mpg depending on time of year. I do a 10 mile commute each day in slow moving traffic, with the occasional motorway run for a meeting. My IS300h is three weeks old and looks as though it will manage 4 weeks from it's first tank. The average (according to the car ) is 43.8mpg at the minute and whilst I know this isn't accurate, the big point is that it looks like I will get between 525 and 550 miles out of the tank. So less tax, and about 200 miles more per tank at a cold time of year. I am more than happy.
  7. Morning all, so 2 and a bit weeks in, I thought I would report back with initial impressions ( which may help prospective purchasers ) So, I have taken delivery of an IS300h in F-Sport White with base nav as the only factory option 1. Looks/Quality. The car looks frankly stunning and has got that response from public and the Company car park brigade alike. The wheels look a bit small at first to me as my last car had 20s, but the ride on those was brutal. Fit and finish inside and out is superb and certainly as good if not better than all of the German cars I have had. 2. Driving. The ride is excellent and handling is great. Smooth serene progress in near silence is the order of the day and you certainly leave the car feeling refreshed. The biggest difference to me has been comfort, my Audi gave me a crippling bad back and the seats in the IS are so comfy and I am 6'4. 3. Performance. The biggest question for everybody considering the car. To be honest I drive the car in "Normal" for 99% of the time and as per the forum statements I have not bothered with "Eco" at all. The car is plenty quick enough and you are surprised when you look at the speedo. Now.............."Sport", for the odd occasion I have tried it at the traffic light grand prix, frankly I have been pretty surprised by the pick up in the car. I guess when you drive in "Normal" all the time, then "Sport" does feel quick and with no gear change to speak of I have always left cars trailing miles behind. Everybody has been correct also that the car makes you change the way you drive and the obsession with getting the EV light on does become somewhat all encompassing !! 4. ICE. So the Sat Nav graphics are a bit 90s, and the voice is ok but to be honest sound quality from the standard stereo is fine (B&O in the Audi) and generally I have nothing to complain about. Music plays fine from USB, phone connectivity to iPhone6 has been stable for incoming/outgoing calls. All boxes ticked for me. So.................I am a very happy bunny. The car currently has 250miles on the clock and has over half a tank left in it. I have only done 5mile commutes to work in traffic and the return is around 41-42mpg whereas my petrol A5 returned approx 28mpg at this time of year. Less fill ups, big tax saving and a cool, rare car. ALL GOOD..............if you are thinking of getting one, do it, especially if it is a Company car. Ignore the sneers from the Audi, Bimmer and Merc guys. They just don't know yet. Cheers Dave
  8. I'm almost 6'4 mate and I have no problem with my F-Sport. Only had it a few days so can't really comment on performance as such, but as stated above, the rolling acceleration is the important figure. You do also think the car isn't that quick until you look at the speedo. Refinement compared to any 4-pot diesel is a million times better. It's a comfort cruiser, not a racetrack stormer and that's why journos slate it at times, but then again they rate the cars whose manufacturer gives them the biggest back hander anyway
  9. So, I left the golf club after lunch and a bird had decorated one side of the car. So home to wash the car on a pretty miserable day. Each to their own, but I just love sporty cars with nice skirts, bumpers and wheels in white. She's a beaut !!
  10. Popped to bodyshop at work and they have given me some Farecla G3 to use on the bonnet. They swear by it for very fine scratches. I'll give it a go later then follow with wax. Just been offsite ion the car, and TBF in the daylight it is absolutely perfect. Possibly too picky for a fleet vehicle driver !!
  11. Just want to use something that I can apply by hand idiot free mate. It really isn't bad, I may even give it a very light cut and polish on a bit later and see how it responds. I usually use Dodo Juice Light Fantastic for my white cars/bike
  12. TBH I am probably being overly picky as usual, and the car did mist over last night as it got damp and looks like it has been waxed at the dealership. Any marks are in the clearcoat I guess, and are probably from a "dirty" polishing cloth as the few on the bonnet are at odd angles to each other. Gonna give the bonnet a clean tonight and then a good coat of AutoGlym Super Resin and then see what it looks like as it gets dark. Looks perfect this morning in normal daylight. Car is definitely going to suit my commute as it spent a long time in EV mode this morning. Currently showing 49mpg after I got to work this morning after the reset at the filling station last night. Still lots to learn on the car, but it was nice that it got a lot of admiring looks this morning, and 15 plates are still pretty rare at the moment.
  13. Ok guys, so we all know about dealership valeters. Tonight when I went to fill the car up, I did see some very light scratches on the car in places, there are about three on the bonnet but you can only really see them under artificial light. I always find this is the norm, I don't think I've ever had a new car without them, I know a lot of people who are very picky with their cars ask dealers not to clean the car after a service because of this. Usually I would just cut and polish them out as best you can. My question is, what is this self repairing paintwork about that it talks about in the handbook ? I have read that people reckon the Lexus paintwork is very soft. Is cut and wax the best option still, or just leave it till after a few washes to see as the paint settles ? Not stressed about it, like I say, pretty usual unfortunately.
  14. Shark fin is standard from MY15 onwards on cars with top sat nav option.
