Hi everyone I have an LS400 DHP wheel for sale, refurbed and never used, £75 LS430 front brake discs and pads, £75 I also have some LS430 roof bars if anyone is interested. These are a bit unobtainium and pretty useful if you need to carry gear around on your roof! They are rated to 100kg so are pretty heavy duty and well made. They are in decent condition and contain all the important bits but you'll need to improvise on a couple of bits. The missing bits (circled in red) are some plastic caps that you insert in the holes on the car (you could improvise with a small flat piece of rubber), the protection film that goes around the hole (you could use some clear vinyl wrap), the allen key (just use another) and lastly the 'key'. This isn't even a proper key, it's just to apparently remove the covers, but they come off perfectly fine without it, it's not a key that turns in a lock!). The important moulded rubber pads that sit on the cars roof to protect it are there as is the manual. Take a look at the photos of the manual and you'll see that the missing bits aren't really to difficult to replicate, they are to protect the paint where the metal bit tightens against the car door shut. Have a look at your car and compare to the manual and you'll have a clearer idea. £140 collected from Huddersfield please

Just to dig this up again as I've not properly got round to doing it, anyone managed to get a blank key for a two button 400h? I can't seem to find one! The one I bought looks very similar apart from the key has a small ridge along it's length, I stupidly didn't spot this in the eBay advert but in it was well disguised by the seller 😞

Hi everyone, we have an rx400h which has two keys, one grey and one black. They are the two button keys, no power tailgate on ours. I don't think the batteries in the keys have been changed for a while so I set about changing them to find that the head is stripped in the grey key. I think I'll get another key/case for that one. But it got me thinking that I'd like another one cutting so wife and I can both have a key and there will be a spare. Anyway, without thinking too deeply, I bought a secondhand grey key from eBay that had the same numbers on the back of the key as my existing black key thinking that it would do the trick if I just get a new key blade cut for it and programme it. When I got it, the exterior of the case looked the same, but the key length is slightly shorter not that that should make a difference as I'll be getting another cut.. I opened it up to have a look at the transponder module and compare to the one in the black key. They look the same but the numbers on them are different, do they need to be the same to work? Is there anywhere online that I can find out what modules are compatible with each other? I've searched high and low and can't seem to find anything... So, in essence I've bought a secondhand transponder module which looks identical but the numbers on them differ. I should really just get a blank copy cut and stick the transponder in to try it but thought I'd ask on here first if anyone has done the same? Many thanks P.s. anyone know which key blank i should buy? My key blades measure 41mm from the plastic to the tip of the key, but I can only see blanks that are 38mm or 44mm in length?! Why isn't anything simple! 🙂

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was thinking to mount to parcel shelf as apparently tinted windows still allow a solar panel to work? (Even if it is at a reduced rate). The car might have periods of time when it isn't used for a few days maybe a couple of weeks as a max, maybe shorter journeys too so I thought the solar charger might be a good idea. I guess if I know it's not going to be used for a while then I can plug the charger in, the inconvenience of plugging it in and unplugging is better than a flat battery 🙂

Wanted, an rx400,h in good shape, well looked after please. Message if you have one for sale. Thank you

Sorry I thought i'd replied to this but the message mustn't have been sent, doh! I don't think it's bulb holders as they are fine, no corrosion plus they are making perfect contact with the bulbs. It's both sides too which have gone at the same time, so must be a fault elsewhere...Will dig out multimeter as you suggest, cheers

Hi everyone A friend of mine has an 2001 RX300 and it has developed an odd fault with the rear indicators. Neither operate via the stalk. The fronts/sides rapidly blink when operating the stalk indicating one is out, but the bulbs are fine (tried new ones to be sure) and the relay is fine too (swapped with a known good one). Again on the hazards the fronts/sides are fine, just the rears don't illuminate 😞 Just a bit odd that it's both rears, and it's not the bulbs or relay. A dodgy joint earth somewhere perhaps? Anyone else had the issue? Any suggestions would be very gratefully received (including where to look) - we are going to have a poke about on Sunday morning, so any knowledge would be great! Thanks in advance Yoda400

Hi Chaps Unfortunately i've been had when buying an LS430, it's got suspect valve seat recession. I think the best way forward would be to buy some heads from a non-gassed scrapper then get them swapped over. I'd like someone to do the job that is comfortable with pulling 3uzs apart (and putting back together!). Anyone have any recommendations for specialists?

Hi chaps, thanks for all the comments. The key I am using is a master key going by what you have said jonthetourist. It's got three buttons with clear front bits over the buttons, I have actually found a second key too but it has black bits over the buttons and there are only two buttons on it. Jon, did you successfully get your master key cloned then? Was it pricey? Thanks for the info!

Just read about your adventure, I guess you are on it right now! The best of luck, sounds incredible, would love to do something like that, maybe when i'm retired and funds allow! Let us know how you get on! 🙂

Hi Ben, thanks a lot for the comprehensive reply, really appreciate it! It's not what I wanted to hear but it's what I suspected, I *think* I read something similar a while back, but i'm also sure I read that some people had success connecting (think that might have been US market LS400s though!). Bleedin' cars eh! Now...Anyone happen to have a genuine Toyota/Lexus code reader stashed away that will read UK LS400 codes? 🙂

Hi Chaps I've been trying to diagnose a misfire on my 1999 LS400 and i'm getting nowhere. I really need to connect a code reader to the car, but it's just not communicating. I thought that the caps in the ECU were knackered and that's why the reader wouldn't connect. Just had the caps changed and it's sorted out a lack of power (which I thought was related to the misfire), but the reader still won't connect. I've tried the reader on my Mum's Yaris and it connects perfectly. Using the cable test, it shows errors on: CAN-H, CAN-L, L I have looked at the physical OBDII connector on the car and it looks fine, no damaged pins that I can see, but there are only 5 wires going to it. Should there be 7 going to it (going by the cable test)? I'm just stumped by this and i'm wondering whether the car doesn't actually support OBDII because it's before the standard came in? Thoughts anyone? Any input gratefully received, getting really frustrated by this now...
