Car is back, 2 & 1/2 weeks later...all good so far - no over heating and the Heaters are actually warm now! Even though the seat memory and seat belt hack was lost, I have no complaints yet!

Just wanted to say sincere thanks for the info in this post (and thanks to my mate Jase for pointing me in the right direction to find it!)... Symptoms were 1) the heaters were blowing cold air for the last few weeks even when they were set to hot and topping up the coolant seemed to have fixed it in the short-term, but after few days later the problem was back 2) fan would kick in randomly, even on short journeys and 3) on a motorway run the engine temperature went off the scale! Mine is 2006 220d with 75k and I took it to Lexus Stoke for an intermediate service and asked them if they knew about this issue, they said they had never seen it before so I pointed out it might be a 'known' problem and they should contact Lexus UK to confirm, I asked them for confirmation the head gasket was OK if they couldn't find any issue and within a few hours they called me to say yep, Head Gasket has gone and they will fix under the extended warranty. They said it would take upto 2 weeks, so fingers crossed it'll be sorted soon!!

I recently upgraded my normal Headlights to HID's and they are 100% brighter than my normal Fog Lights. I turn on my Side lights, then Head Lights and now the new bulbs are in are a Crisp White/Blue shine. When I then turn on my fog lights, its like a dull yellow shine compared. In my opinion, my headlights are now much brighter than my fog lights, and I agree you can see a vehicle with HID's coming a mile off - e.g. new BMW's, Merc's Omega's, Audi Punto's and some VW's etc.

I don't actually know how much the unit cost cus when I kept on bothering Nav.tv they told me they don't sell to the public, only trade and that all they would do is to put me in touch with an installer in my area who could purchase from them. This mean't I paid for the lot all together (convertor, dvd player, fm modulator leads etc. and fitting). I'd guess the actual convertor was a fair few hundred quid from nav.tv tho...?!?!? :zee:

Yep all done. Its sweet! DVD Single DIN under the passenger seat and secured with velcro (for easy removal most of all). Cabled back to my OEM TV and a switch by my knee under the steering wheel to flick between Sat Nav & DVD. Its quality and plays everything! DVD's; copy DVD's; VCD's; SVCD's; MP3's etc. etc. and outputs the sound to an FM Modulator which transmits to the radio when tuned into a certain frequency. Im well impressed and Kev at ICEBeat, in Fenton Stoke-on-Trent did a tidy install in 1 day. (I would post pictures if I could find how to do it :-) Dave

Hi guys, I saw this post a while ago: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...howtopic=10930& and want to get my Sunroof/Windows and Mirrors to close when I press the alarm/lock on my keyfob. I believe it can be done and was pointed in Dean (Dpk) direction. I've dropped him a few PM's, but had no reply. Does anyone else know about this and who can fit it, or contact Dean to sort this for me..? Thanks for your help! Dave

Mine is a 200 Sport 99V, I brought in with Lexus as the prvious owner and I've had it for about 18 months now. I first got the HeadUnit replaced under warranty - with no arguments, and only money I will have spent on it is for a near side wheel bearing, as it is going in the garage on Friday to have this fixed. I've had 2 MOT's and 2 Services so far but other than that (touch wood) its not cost me anything else. I would definetly consider another Lexus, dealership seems spot-on everytime and they are real high quality cars, built to last. Mine had 78k on when I brought it, but I've only done about 8k on since I had it, as have a company car. But even now with 85+ on the clock, it runs sweet. Start first time, every time! and I've just got a DVD Player hooked up to my Sat Nav screen, which will keep me amused for a while. Dave

No reply to my mail to Nav.tv - so I called them, again! - the guy said as usual that he would call me back.....and I didn't recieve a call from him. But..... A guy called Kevin called me and said that he was the dealer in Stoke who has lots from Nav.tv - RESULT!!!! :D Im taking my IS to his shop tomorrow so he can take a look. Sounds good so far, might even get it in b4 crimbo! hhooorrrraaay!

Yea, I noticed the GB from an old post a while back. Although most people didn't want to fit it themselves....like me :-) I sent Nav.tv another email again asking of my closest stockist of these.

I've asked this before guys but never got any definitives... I have a IS200 Sport, with Sat Nav. I've always wanted my Pop Up Screen to be able to play DVD's. I believe you need some kind of converter for the signals and to switch between the modes or something and a new DVD unit and the standard Sat Nav unit won't play normal movie discs. Someone from LOC put me in touch with Nav.tv from cardiff, but I ring and ring and no one ever comes back to me with a price. I've searched the earth and found some companies in the US who will supply the parts but I have no idea about fitting them my-self, and wouldn't like to try. All my local ICE places can do Ranger Rovers/BM's/Mini and Merc's but when I tell them I own a Lexus - they look blank at me (r they jelaous..? ) Any advise would be appreticated, as I can't find anyone who knows much about it. I did this once, it was a few months ago, going left around a small corner. Think I hit some oil and grease on the tarmac or something, as I was only in 2nd - doing no more than 25 MAX! Left hand down and the back end swung right around, I ended up crushed against a massive tree on the pavement, with the drivers window glass all over me! It costi a fortune, my side skirt was bent, I needed a new door, interior panel (£500 ALONE!) etc. etc. etc. It all happened so quickly, I could even prevent it! The only lucky things were the roads were relatively clear so I only hit the tree and the Airbags didn't engage tho :¬I It these Rear Wheel Drive cars, very different than my old Corsa 16v :-)

QUALITY! So it can b done! Your install looks very nice! Just what I want. My Sat Nav OEM Screen playing my favorite DVD's! Does it automatically flick over when you PS is on? Im not too fussed about a PS2, but would need some sort of DVD/VCD standalone unit to fit under my passenger seat and also leads. I contacted Nav.TV again - but no reply to mails etc. This has happened a few times now :-(((( Do you know where to buy the DVD units and know anywhere around my area to fit it for me??? Spoke to a nice chap at Nav.TV who said there is a convertor and they are currently making one that does both PAL & NTSC which will be a few months... He said he would check for a dealer in my area, but then never rang me back :-( I called them again today, and they said they would get someone to call me back again.... but Im still waiting... He did say that the Standard DVD Drive in the boot (for the Sat Nav) wud'nt work as only for sat nav, and I would need a new drive. DOH! As-yet Im still waiting for a supplied and fitted price though... Dave

I do desperately want these....mainly to watch sum 'jonny vaughen' :tsktsk: if u no wot I mean If I HAVE 2 leave my standard HU in then, I will go for the DVD option as the next best thing. Which converter do I need then? How much wud it set be back..? And does any1 no of a place in my area who coud fit it sorry...also Is it complicated to fit, how much wud I be looking at to install. Yea, thanks for the info. Is everyone Absolutely Positive that there is no way of replacing the standard unit..? Im not a expert either, but think there be, perhaps a converter of sum kind is needed..? I dunno. But I dont like carrying loads of cd's and NEED my mp3...

Guys, Im probably not the 1st to ask this - but I have a IS200 Sport with Sat Nav and wanted a DVD player in my ride. I have a single din Kenwood MP3 player also out of my old corsa, and Im sick of the original double din unit and loads of CD's knocking around - when I can fit lots on albums on 1 MP3 CD. I thought about taking out the standard stereo, and replacing it with my MP3 unit and perhaps a DVD player underneath..? Do you know if its possible to get DVD's to play on the standard Sat Nav screen? Or is it possible to play DVD's on the sat nav disc drive in the boot? I live in Stoke and wouldn't fancy fitting this myself. I've been into ICEand Audio shops around my area but all of them say a converter for the Lexus screens is not made and "if u had a Range Rover, BM or Merc - it wouldn't b a problem" !?!?!? I refuse to take this and am sure that someone out there has DVD's playing right now in their IS. Does any1 know if this is possible and/or know of anywhere in my area that could sort this for me Dave

Hi every1. I used to have a Toad CAT1 Alarm on my old a Corsa Sport (A bit of a step up to my lex :) which I opted for a Full Colsure System, which closes all the windows when you lock the car. I have heard something about this being possible on the standard Lexus Key Fob. Is this true? Has any1 got this already, if so wot £ and where from. Thanks guys! :zee:

I think the total Price was about £300 with everything. I took is back to get the dent sorted, and they did a great job :D Even got a little dent out of my door for free!

They did do a good job, and not a bad price. And they are Replacing your stereo under warranty - Free Of Charge, because it is broken. ALTHOUGH - I only brought the car a few months ago and it had Stone chipping on the bonnet - so I paid ALOT of money to get it sprayed, and as it is metalic I had the wings and front bumper done (really the whole front end re-sprayed). This cost as you can imagine was an absolutley stupid amount of money. But when my car returned out of the garage after the service - I noticed a large indention on the top passenger side of my bonnet. So I WASN'T 2 PLEASED!!!!! I told Lexus Stoke the situation and that they would have to foot the cost of having it put right. 2 guys looked at the fault - a Sales Director and a Afer Sales Director (one had a squeaky voice :) and although I could prove it was done in there, they agreed to repair it. My Lex is goin in 2 get this sorted on Fri, so I'll let you know. Dave

Yea check on the Price, also how easy/hard they are to fit. Is it a case of simply pulling the standard black one off and fitting the new opne..? I persume they come white or something, then you have to get them sprayed the colour of your body work? I'm up 4 1 anyways... :zee:

Have you seen the new style 'Shark Fin' type Arials which are on the new BMW 3/5 series...? Like look mint - has anyone got any ideas of where to get them? Or if it is possible to remove the standard black arial and fit one of these. I have Sat Nav on my 200 - will the Arial affect this..? Dave
