How about lino? Have it go four inches up the walls and you'll be able to jet wash it every so often if needed. Done it to the load area of my vito van and its the best lining ever.

You might save more by going to an independant. Say a car is £15k at Lexus, it'll probably will be £13k at an independant. As I mentioned in my post above you also have the consumer rights act 2015 which give a certain amount of time after purchase depending on severity of the fault, once this has ended you then buy the two year warranty plus a further two years later on. So, if a Lexus purchase costs you £16k inc warranty for 3 years, an independant purchase costs you £15k for four years warranty. Lexus edgware rd offered just over 50% of what I paid for my car the other day, which I smiled at as I only bought it last year - made me think though, if Lexus depreciate that badly, is it wise me buying another!

I had a couple of camrys too, my better half has never forgiven me for 'trading up' to a Lexus is200d, with constant comparisons made regarding ride and noise....to which I happily agree. The is200d actually isnt that bad, but maybe I should have saved a lot of money and just got an older Lexus!

That reminds me of my ct200h 24hr test drive. Upon declaring after the test drive that my main problem with the car was the ride, my salesman while taking me on a spin to demo the spped camera warnings(which are useless), kindly explained that if you drive slower over speed bumps etc you hardly notice them.

As you just bought it they should rectify the issues no problem (had discs, pads and water pump replaced by garage when I bought mine) if they don't, simply say its not fit for purpose and you want to reject it. Once you sort out these issues, it should give you years of happy (and fairly economic) motoring.

Heres my car today after giving it wash yesterday without applying any polish at all, which I last did about a month ago. Looks great when its not chucking it down too!

No prob Shahpor, hope its as useful for you as it is for me, and yes at that price its a no-brainer really. By the way, plugging the obd2 into the socket can be a bit tricky, as I found out! Its under the steering wheel and usually has a plastic cover, although mine was hanging off it after the last time person connected to it - this just pulls off. I ended up getting myself (well my head and shoulders) into the footwell so I could actually see it, as merely feel alone was impossible.However, you may find you have none of the forementioned messing around and it plugs in dead easy for you!!

I agree, its all very well having the law behind you, but if the dealer is in any way dodgy it makes for a bigger headache. In my case, I was lucky I was dealing with a big company (possibly biggest dealer in UK), so had it relatively easy. As well as getting new Lexus discs and pads fitted at their in house garage, my coolant pump got replaced at Lexus. If you do pursue him, I'd say you want to have it repaired at an independant garage - because you don't trust him to do a good job based upon your experience. Main thing is be polite at all times, but be firm about what you want done.

Hope things are improving mpg wise, and just thought I'd mention an additional item I bought which keeps an eye on your car's innards. I got an obd2 off of amazon, along with the torque pro app from google play, and the fuel economy addon to go with torque which I mainly use - total cost for the lot being around a tenner. The obd2 tool can be a bit hit and miss setting up, but once the bluetooth's connected to torque on your mobile device it remains a good connection, so just takes a bit of patience at first. oh, and delivery of it can take a while. On the the fuel addon you have a bar indicating your fuel efficiency with the current mpg displayed (as well as other info), with a solid green bar being most efficient. I'd also recommend a read of this excellent guide by Matus......http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/72447-increase-your-mileage-in-few-steps/ I average 35mpg around town, with M3 and M25 driving yesterday averaging 55mpg, actually hovering at 69mpg while going up through the 50mph M3 roadworks! Its still a case of work in progress with me, but its a case of adjusting to the car's gearing (as in Matus's guide), and avoiding entering higher gears too early.

As Normski pointed out, head gaskets are pretty unpredictable, but if there are existing problems they will have certain indicators. For instance, mine had a leaking coolant pump, which was spraying a small amount of coolant onto one side of the engine. This is a common problem with both diesel and petrol lexus's (and toyotas), but I didn't spot it till I had the car a few days. Another issue was the discs were slightly corroded. Both items were sorted out by the dealer. You can buy a wrong'un regardless of what lump lies under its bonnet, so I'd be more inclined to buy from a dealer to ensure all problems are easily sorted, should you spot something post sale.

Considering your circumstances I'd go for the diesel lexus. Like you say, other makes have the same diesel issues, but have less toys - making the Lexus good value for money.

Absolutely, I'd be very unhappy if a cat took a liking my Lexus bonnet! Its a bit like parking up in the long stay car park at Gatwick, judging by the state of it, my car looked like an assortment of feral animals had made it home while I was enjoying sunny Dubrovnik!

Don't know who fixes potholes in the States, but why don't they just get them fixed - no pothole, no problem I was quite impressed by my local council who sorted out 3 in the same amount of days in our street, after I complained mainly due to my car being splashed with watery grit after every downpour. Now I just need to sort out the street around the corner which looks like the surface of the moon.....

Fair enough. How did you get all the black stuff off the rim. Is it just a simple clean with wheel cleaner. It seems like its pretty hard to get off. I cant see any scratches either so Im pretty happy too. Ill have to check the valves and see if theyre the same ones as I had previously but newer or if theyd just not bothered to change them Yes, some of it still remained even after using the jet wash brush....a bit of rubbing with a microfibre cloth and polish got it off fairly easily though(mind you I only had one wheel to do, bit different doing all four like you have to!) The valve does look new, although can't say for certain as didn't look before tyre change.
