  1. I'd guess it is ground related, I remember I had a spare black wire, and until I connected it to ground audio wasnt good. After connection, it was perfect, I just wired it to the car's metal frame.....which should all be ground. Maybe have a look for a floating black wire
  2. Hey Kurowi, I tried the install myself - also the rotary knob....but have no controls from it. Have the audio working fine, and Siri, and music and Nav.....but cannot figure out the issue. The kit came with 3 x passthrough connectors for the radio, however only 2 fit. Im wondering did you also get three, or maybe I was sent the wrong cable. I also tried 2 variations of the switch setting, one with only 5, and the other 3,4,5. No joy.
  3. @tinka, 100% right !. That is the key to driving it sporty, I too have discovered it has to be in sport mode + manual mode (i.e. gear stick to right) then using paddles you can chose the gear, and the throttle response becomes instant and predictable. To be honest with this config I actually can enjoy the ACS, 2nd + 3rd especially If sport mode + auto mode is selected, then the "elastic band" sensation can be present, along with a lag often as the computer decides what gear to select. P.S. I know they are not technically gears, but the gear ratios on the CVT actually perform very impressively if used right.
  4. Thats a beauty Gaz, You will love that car, same colour choice as mine, looks stunning perfectly clean, and even carries a little dirt fantastically well also. Hidden so much better than on the white, as well as great for stone chips, although I have not got any myself yet. Just finished a long drive myself today, using the units measure of kms/ltr, and arrived home with a perfect reading of 20km per litre. Which in my book is amazing mileage from a 2.5ltr petrol with 220bhp. Every once and a while, I switch to sport, move the gear level to the right into manual mode, and using the paddles have amazing fun from the power delivery and handling. Comfort, quality, refinement, silence, handling and great driving fun when you want too.......personally I love the ASC, its adds another dimension to the experience if having some fun.
  5. Direct responce to the "dangerous" overtaking / power delivery lag. I can see what some people are referring too when they make this point, and I experienced it once myself, needing a quick overtaking manouver with my previous car being a 2ltr 150bhp diesel. I floored it and a delay followed which made my heart jump into my mouth, before it took off. The reason was I was in auto mode, and had floored it in the wrong gear ratio, it took a moment before the computer decided to drop a gear ratio. (possibly the fuel economy algorithm) The solution I use ever since that moment is to manually drop a gear ration using the paddles, preferably switch to sport, then move the gear stick into manual (move to left). This instantly automatically drops a gear ration and will rev to "red line". The power with this method is instantaneous and very impressive. If you have a test drive give it a try.
  6. Great videos well done. I agree it is way more than fast enough, myself, I simply switch to sport, then move the gearstick into manual mode. The car then automatically drops a gear ratio, then if I floor it, it just moves, and very fast. At any speed, using this method, I doubt any 2lt tdi would keep up.
  7. I have heard a lot of people say the S mode is pointless and gets over-ridden too easily. Personally I find it great, but only once the car is placed in "manual mode" & Sport mode together. Switching to manual will drop the car down a gear ratio straight away, and with sport engaged it goes like a rocket. The paddles then can switch up or down as you desire, reving all the way to the red line in the given "ratios". This makes a huge difference, and the car really moves. If you use Sport mode in Automatic mode, then the paddles are pointless, as the car will decide for you and override your decision which is annoying.
  8. My average is consistently around 45mpg, that is with mainly motorway driving during the week. Bear in mind my boot is full of work equipment adding a lot of weight at all times, without that I would get over 50 easily. How the car manages the mileage I am not entirely sure, the electric motor seems to work best at complimenting the engine in maintaining a constant speed. (at motorway speeds). I usually cruise between 120 - 140kph, and rarely use the cruise control, I use manual paddle mode and switch to ratio 6, this seems to provide better results than the cruise control computer. On a flat motorway section, I can see the system is using both electric and engine, and if I ensure no extra load than just maintaining speed, then I usually have long stretches of 60+ mpg displayed. My best so far is 25 mins driving at 140kph and having 60+ mpg for the entire time. I find it enjoyable playing with driving style to achieve the best result, increasing speed without extra mpg on any downhill section, and allowing speed to decrease on small uphill sections, all the while the mpg remains the same or gets better. Sport mode to overtake, or just have a little fun, accelerating away from toll booths etc, it is uncanny how all other cars are left dead. Or on empty B roads etc, but it all averages out, leaving usually 45-48 on the display. If I drove more economically Id be sure Id achieve 50+
  9. Cheers, That what my deduction also, the only reason I asked was that the engine was not revving up, but the fuel display went up to the max (30ltrs p/100km). Even at idle, it seemed strange that the fuel could be used at such levels without engine revving, as during driving under normal conditions that would require a lot more revs to acheive. Like you say probably a non-issue. However I just wanted to confirm this was the experience of other users, as with the level of computer control involved, I thought it might be a malfunction on mine. Thanks
  10. Another new owner here, IS300h Mercury Grey I am still getting used to it in general, and exploring all the various aspects unique to this car. But one thing worried me, has anyone else noticed very high fuel usage first thing in the morning. Im assuming it is the engine warming up, but it throws any economy saving out the window. While viewing litres per 100km, the usage goes off the scale (which maxes at 30), no matter how lightly the pedal is pressed. I quickly see the average being polluted by these figures, this morning right up to 11 litres per 100km, (after economical driving yesterday), it is disheartening to witness. This seems excessive to me, and the engine is not revving very high
