  1. I am willing to sell this tow bar, as described in OP, for £100. and we can arrange delivery/collection to be mutably suitable.
  2. My tail pipes are still shinny silver on the insides :-) Just like new..... but 17 years on.
  3. And I have all the bits for a cam belt change available, genuine parts, still wrapped, available for sale. No International shipping :-)
  4. I have a set of 17" DHP wheels, fitted to a MK-III LS400. Same as these http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=6183 I would describe mine as "usable", they are certainly not "perfect", so could probable do with a refurbish. Set of 5, 2 with good tyres, 2 with very worn tyres which need immediate replacement and the spare is good too. One of the wheels has quite a bit of laquer missing. Will get some photos up soon, but only asking £250 for the set of 5. Located in Fleet Hants, communte to Hemel Herts and can arrange delivery to many parts. PM if you are interested.
  5. Hey, being a Gold Member is good. I have a set of 5 for sale too. 1 is in need of a refurb, the others are pretty much ok, but do have brake dust marks on them. Tyres are new on 1 pair, Good on spare, but what was the rear wheels, have no tread at all. I would like £300 for them as a set. I can probably arrange a good delivery price, depending on where you are.
  6. OK, the towbar is now off the car. It has surface rust, however it is very well made and weighs in at 20KG. I can brush it over and give it a quick coat of hamerite, or you may choose to rub it down and have it pristine looking. I have the original instructions with it too. It is the Watling Engineering model PTY70DT. It will be on ebay if no one wishes for it. I can organise delivery, or courier is probably a tenner. Simon

  8. I have a used Watling towbar off my MK3 LS400. They sell for £264 http://www.watling-towbars.co.uk/docs/pricelist.pdf I have the towbar, fitting instructions, Tow ball, Electrics all available for £130. This is a detachable item, for better looks, and I have a plastic plug to cover the hole. PM me to arrange for collection, or I could deliver at courier cost.
  9. I am breaking my Mark 3 LS400. Champagne/gold colour with a cream interior, and of course no rust, but only 133k miles ALL parts are available. Engine parts, wheels, towbar, mirors, trim, plus I have some new spares too. Please PM me your requests, I will organise removal, cleaning up, postage and delivery. I also have a nice reg, with plates too available, "L3X ST" One set of plates has the "3" as an upside down E. This sad day has come about due to the cost of fuel. I have 2 LS400's MK3, they are absolutely fantastic cars.
  10. Chris, now that you have joined up for free, you should use the search facility. Tons of advice available. Personally, Mk-iii 95-97, best mpg (according to Lexus spec), what pay so much more for 20 more bhp and a built in savnav which is so out or date compared to personal units. FANTASTIC cars, go for it. Good luck.
  11. I need to do this on my mk-3 '95 car, but I am told that the gen-1 cars are very different on rear suspension compared to gen 2. Anyone done it on a 95 car, where did you get the bushes from?
  12. Hi, I too have been researching these bushes. My car is judderings when braking and castoring at the back. The car has been in my workshop for a week, jacked up, Wheels off, and ive been lubricating all the suspension nuts and bolts with WD40. I got the bolts off the rear bushes on saturday. I have found Prirace.com in the UK that will supply the rear trailing arm/axle carrier arm bushes for under £40 delivered. Im about to order a set today. Looks like the rear axle carrier/trailing arm/strut rod has the same bushes for all 89 - 00 models. That's my first project! The rear suspension arms (No 1 and 2 in my manual but also called Upper and Lower Arms) appear to be different. There are aftermarket bushes for 89-94 models but can't find anything yet for 95-00 models for these two arms. Anyone with a Mk3 done anything other than replace the whole rear arms? There seems to be more 'choice' for front suspension parts. Is that because they wear out quicker? Got the first MOT tomorrow since buying the car so fingers crossed..... Hi You are correct and the lower arm configurations were changed on the Lexus LS400 after 94 when the suspension was updated ,I think that the lower arm was redesigned to incorporate the bushing on the hubside within the arm rather than the knuckle on the hub and as there are no bushings shown anywhere for that after 94 period I am assuming it nessacary to purchase a arm and that will be from Lexus I am afraid to say. With regard to the upper arm I have not seen any reference to wear problems on this arm probably because the hubside fastening is a balljoint and could not be replaced anyway and to that end it is probably a new arm . I should as you say concentrate on the struts first get them done and see how the suspension feels then before you embark on any further effort and expense. Hi Need to make a correction to my last post ,the part I reffered to as the upper suspension arm is in fact the lower suspension arm no 1 and it is also called the toe in arm.The upper suspension arm is in fact the dished wishbone and as a bush to each end,These were replaced on my lexus 10 years ago and according to the tech who did it a ballache as the exhaust as to come off. At the time I got a deal from the service manager as they had cocked up a previous job on the car so he underestimated the time it took by four hrs he had it in for 2 and the job took six and that was replacing the arms not putting new bushes in because at that time bushes were not available anyway so it was not a diy job. I would seriously check out the need for replacing these componenents before starting the job because the cost of the bushes alone from prirace is nearly £200. Ordered the bushings for the rear struts from Auto Warehouse and will tackle that job first and see how she feels. Jerry from Auto Warehouse says he has bushings for the lower suspension arm for a 1995 model too. He has sent me his rear suspension diagram and it is the same as mine and the same as the one I got from my local Lexus dealership today. They are the Adus 536 bushings. Gonna get him to include those as looks accessible for a DIYer. Removing the lower arm does affect the rear wheel allignment but if I mark it up before removal I should be ok!? BTW car failed MOT today because one of my tyres was on the wrong way round!! Got a tyre changing machine at work so will get it turned round tomorrow and then another years motoring! Jim Jim, did your bush arrive, does it fit the MK-3 well? I need to replace the rear, outer, lower, rearmost (no2) bush (bushing). Auto-Wearhouse and armstrongdistributes only have the >94 items listed. ADUS 583 is the >94 Item I think? My car needs this bush for the MOT, as it was an advisory last year. Many Many thanks in advance.
  13. If anyone wants them, I have the following 2 bushes for sale. ADUS 505 and ADUS 5056TA. Both ordered in error.
  14. For a £500 car, I would not bother changing the cam belt. It will peobablt be fine anyway. I too have a series 3, when it got to 120kmiles, i started to replace the cambelt. When I saw how dry and in perfect condition it was...... I just gave up and put back the few parts I had removed. It was fine up to 190 k miles (70k miles over due) till the starter motor failed. Enjoy............ you wil :)
  15. Just to let you all know that my breaker is about to go, please contact me if you want any MK-III parts for your cars. It is a navy blue car with a grey interior. Parts gone are: springs, PS pump, steering rack, rear suspension, diff, boot lid, radio, CD, time clock, front brakes, mirrors, and a few bits of trim..... BUT there is still loads of bits left.
  16. Scorpion is a Thatham Cat-1 device. You could try Thatcham, they may have an archive of technical information. I have posted links here before.... with details of what the alarm 'protects'

  18. I always thought that when a dirty car turns up at the garage, they probably think it is owned by someone that does not car ..... and then maybe they do their work accordingly. I always wash and vac my car before the MOT too.
  19. I have a previously working MK-III car on the drive in pieces with the glove box already out if you need any bits or just advice on how some parts look etc.
  20. I have both front hubs available from my 1995 breaker. There were fine when the car was a runner.
  21. Does this help at all...... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.taylor8817/For%20Sale/frontdoor.pdf It shows where the door ECU is, assuming that controls the locking etc, and also the rod that connect outer handle with inner handle and actual locking mechanism. Yes, my drivers door has the door card off, and the doorhandle removed. Its a long thread..... what am I looking for.
  22. I have my copy of the genuine Operating Instructions for the Lexus Theft Deterrent System (TDS). Also known as the Scorpion T5000. It is the square-ish fob with 2 square buttons, 1 black, 1 Red and a slider on 1 side and a 2 pin socket on the other. They are Thatcham Cat-1 authorised systems and a few folk have had problems with them. If anyone would like to see my copy of these Operating Instructions, please PM me. I prefer not to publish them, in case I am breaking some Lexus, or Scorpion, copyright protection. A good link to Thatcham: Scorpion 5000 Thatcham Cat-1 See Page 11 (which is marked as Pg16) under Toyota 5000. Also this, maybe a repair man? http://www.tlocuk.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=912&sid=d1d7dc67c37dad8106d32bba065c802b If anyone would like to see my copy of these Operating Instructions, please PM me.
  23. For those with a Watling towbar, I found a plastic plug to fit the exposed tube when the towball neck is removed. http://www.componentforce.co.uk/product/130/Sti251/sample I just asked for a sample and sure enough it fits fine. Actually I asked for 2, just in case I lost one. I also made a drain hole at the bottom of the tube on the car. Inside the insert i have made 2 holes and threaded a cable tie through to make a finger pull. All seems to work pretty well. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.taylor8817/web%20pics/TowBarInsert.JPG
